My Besties Cards DIY

My Besties Stamps by Sherri Baldy

Today I'm sharing some sweet cards featuring My Besties stamps by Sherri Baldy.  I was introduced to My Besties a few years ago at the 2014 Winter CHA .  I was working in a vendor booth and Sherri was our neighbor for a week.  I was totally enchanted - with each charming character more darling than the next.

Today I'm excited to get a chance to showcase my style.  I realize that each Bestie stamp is brimming with adorable details perfect for markers, colored pencils and ink.  That's probably how most of you are used to seeing these stamps.  Unfortunately I have no talent using markers so I do what I know - and that is paper piecing.  If you scroll down, I'll share my process with you.

This card was created using "Bestie Party Ever" (MYB-902) stamp and Sherri's 8x8 paper pad called "The Blue Rose Garden (Aqua)".

Here is my process:

Step 1.  Stamp all the images and cut them out.  I stamped the body onto cardstock but the dress and balloons were stamped onto patterned paper.

Step 2.  I like to give all my paper pieces some definition by inking the edges. I stamped and cut an extra ruffle from the skirt because I will be layering them.
Step 3.  You can see in the image below,  I glued the paper pieces onto my background doll stamp.   As for the skirt, I created movement and dimension by tucking an extra layer of ruffles.
Step 4.  I picked out some background papers for layering and cut them to fit my card.  I also inked the edges of the paper before gluing to the card.
Step 5.  Once the background papers were glued down, I stamped a fresh image onto the card to complete the strings on the balloons.  I also punched a decorative border  and inked that with Distress ink.
Step 6.   Decorate as desired.  I added the sweet cupcake from the set and paper pieced that out using the same technique as the clothing. I added a few flowers, some gingham trim and some pink pearls to complete her.

.  Thanks so much for stopping by and thanks to Sherri Baldy for her imagination and artistic vision.
