Patriotic Cards - Stamps and Chipboard from Creative Embellishments

Happy Memorial Day America!  This is a day to celebrate our freedom, our patriotism and our wonderful country.

I am celebrating American pride with just a few of the many patriotic themed products from Creative Embellishments.  They have stamps, stencils, shaker sets, shaker pieces, home decor and chipboard accents to help celebrate your love of America.

Creative Embellishments - Eagle in Flag Rubber Stamp is the featured focal point of both cards today, accented with Creative Embellishments - Stars and Stripes Balloon chipboard andCreative Embellishments 4th of July ATC Coin set.

The chipboard pieces have all been heat embossed using Stampendous Aged Ivory embossing powder.  After embossing, I backed each of the chipboard pieces with cardstock to make them pop from the page.

The Creative Embellishments - Eagle in Flag Rubber Stamp was stamped and then colored using Distress Inks.   Nothing too fancy because I wanted the stamped image to be the star of the show.  I am also giving the cards to men so I needed to tone down the glitz and focus on the message/intent of the card.  My son really doesn't need a ribbon or florals on the card, no matter how much I want to add them..oh and I really wanted to keep on gussying.

Simple fact - cards don't always need a lot of embellishing.

Additional Information

The Eagle in Flag was stamped on to watercolor paper ( Neenah Classic Crest 80 LB SMOOTH SOLAR WHITE Paper Pack 25 Sheets) using the MISTI 12 x 12 - Most Incredible Stamp Tool Invented stamping platform and colored using Distress Inks  (shown below) and  Blending brushes from Picket Fence Studios .

I like the Neenah watercolor paper because it has absolutely no texture allowing for a perfectly stamped image when used with the MISTI stamp platform for stamping.  While the MISTI is a bit pricey, nothing beats perfection when stamping.  I eliminated wasted paper because I can get a perfect image every time.  It makes the whole stamping experience more enjoyable.

Dream Catcher Shaker Cards

Hello crafty friends. Today I am sharing some colorful shaker cards made by transforming Creative Embellishments chipboard Dream Catcher pieces into shakers.

The dreamcatcher is a protective talisman that is used to protect people from nightmares and bad dreams. The charm was usually used for young children and hung above their cradles or beds. My youngest son used to love to sleep with his dreamcatcher over his bed.

Here are the images of the chipboard pieces used today: Creative Embellishments Dream Catcher 1 - chipboard and Creative Embellishments ATC Coin Rings with acrylic sheets

The Dream Catcher 1 - chipboard pieces were quite easy to turn into shakers because the ATC Coin Rings fit perfectly.

I painted all the pieces with acrylic paint, then inked the feathers with various Distress Inks (Crackling Campfire , Picked RaspberrySqueezed Lemonade) to match the Little Birdie  patterned paper.  Once dry, I assembled the layers of the shaker and filled with shaker mix from Buttons Galore. Scroll down for more information on the shaker mix used.

The first card has the dream catcher as the top layer over the rings.  I added foam under the feathers to provide extra support for the chipboard pieces.

Shaker Mixes Used Today
I always say a fun shaker card needs fabulous shaker mix.  The mix helped create the magic of the shaker.  I believe Buttons Galore has the very best selection of shaker mixes with so many varieties to adore.  Today's selections are from the Doo Dadz collection and from the Shaker Mix Cube collection.

The first card comes to life with Buttons Galore's Shaker Mix in a Cube- Spring Blooms.
The Cube mixes have an assortment of buttons, sequins, beads, and gems - perfect for inside a shaker project and as an embellishment around the card.  In the image above, the finishing accent pieces on the card areclear sequins from the mix.

The second card today is filled with Buttons Galore's Marmalade Doo Dadz.
What are Doo Dadz?  Buttons Galore says it best,
"Art & Crafts most unique embellishments! Sparkling iridescent flat back gems and rhinestones for crafting make up this colorful collection of shimmering iridescent embellishments."

Here is the second card.  The dream catcher is the base layer lying flat on the paper.  No need for foam under the chipboard feathers.  The ATC rings layers are added on top.  The feathers are also accented with Doo Dadz.  Because the gems have a flat side they are easy to glue to projects for a touch of  shimmery glam.

The papers used today are from Little Birdie Boho Dreams 12x12 Scrapbook paper

May your dreams be wonderful and colorful.

Patriotic USA Wood Home Decor ( Shaker Art)

Freedom isn't Free.  I am thankful for the brave patriots (past and present) working to keep America free.

Creative Embellishments has some amazing products with patriotic themed designs to celebrate all things patriotic, from shakers to stamps, home decor, chipboard and stencils. My project today features the wood home decor USA shape, flag shaker and some chipboard shapes to accent the piece.

Today  I am featuring a home decor piece celebrating freedom using:   United States - Wood Home Decor

In addition to the wood home decor piece, here are the chipboard accent pieces used:

This decor piece is going on my front door.  To protect the unfinished wood piece from sun fading,  I sprayed the piece with a coat of clear shellac to seal the wood.  As you can see, the wood Creative Embellishments uses is clean and unblemished, ready to use.

The sentiment, Freedom Isn't Free,  and the Creative Embellishments chipboard  Star Pieces were also kept simple and painted with vanilla acrylic paint.

Let's Talk About the Shaker

The flag is a classic iconic design for any patriotic crafty project but a  Flag Shaker  brings this to a whole new level of crazy decor fun (for me at least - smiling at my craft table because I enjoy the process.)

The shaker pieces were painted using acrylic paints. The shaker was filled with fun shaker mix from Buttons Galore called DooDadz.  Great shaker mix makes the shaker all the more fabulous.  I like adding shakers to home decor projects because they add a unique, interactive element that is not typical of wall art.

Here is the mix used today:   Buttons Galore - Doo Dadz - Yankee Doodle DD110
