Prima and Pink Paislee as a Tag Team with the Color Wash Collection

Prima and Pink Paislee are having a whole lot of fun together as a perfect match.

Prima Marketing and Pink Paislee have paired up products for some added fun. Today we feature some wonderful embellishments from Prima to coordinate with Pink Paislee's Color Wash collection: light, breezy, soft,  like a splash of water color on the page with Prima products to make it pop.

I really love the Pink Paislee pastels because they have a calming effect on me. These are pastel perfection when mixed with the softness of Prima embellishments.  They make a spectacular pairing.

The Prima Team decided to make some tags with a theme of "Watercolor Fun".
You can find the fun on Social Media using these hashtags: #watercolorfun and #primapinkpaisleswap

I used a whole lot of Prima embellishments as accents:
Prima Resins Butterflies, Prima Say It In Crystals mini  pearl flourishes, Prima Wood Icon Embellishments -Words, Prima Soubrette White Flowers, and Prima Delight Brads.

I decided to keep the wood embellishments natural with no ink or mist.  They look very delicate that way on my tag.

The seam binding used at the top of the tag as well as the ribbon at the bottom were both misted with Heidi Swapp Color Shine Mist  in Blush - from Pink Paislee.  Why the difference in color ?  The seam binding at the top was a cream color which resulted in a cream-sickle orange.  YUM.

The orange pulls out the color from the Pink Paislee Color Wash Vellum Banners.

Flying Unicorns Oct Off The Page Project - Haunted House Spooktacular

Flying Unicorns  Oct Kit of the Month - Farmer's Market and Hayrides
October also means spooky houses and Halloween frights.  I did my best to spook my family with the Flying Unicorns Off the page project for the month Farmer's Market and Hayrides. .  And the biggest surprise?  I used FabScraps – Angelic Christmas Collection

The purples and greens in this nontraditional  Christmas Collection from FabScraps was exactly what I needed as odd as that sounds.    This is what the house looked like to start.

To walk you through my creative process, I need to start at the beginning.  I originally had sugarplum visions for this house.  It was going to be a winter ice castle.  I started well into the project and had the intricate roofing all finish and was well into creating the walls.  I let a night's rest sink in and when I got up, I looked at my project and yawned.  Oh dear me - not good.

Was I yawning because it was 4:30am?  Heck no. That's when the best scrapping is to be had at my house.  I was bored to tears of the direction I was heading.   so I ripped off all my roofing and tossed out my walls.  i revamped my direction and grabbed the FabScraps papers,   I just knew they would save me from  certain scrappy disaster.

I started on the roof first.  Here is a close up of my dimensional, multi-layered roof. You will find complete and detailed instructions on how I made my roof  if you scroll down .

I then decorated the sides and added embellishments.    My sweet little skeletons were from a craft store  in the Halloween section.  The little fencing was found at a craft store in the unfinished wood section.

This little guy has a Prima Liberty rose in his pocket.

Thanks for looking.  Grab your FabScraps papers at the Unicorn store today before they are gone.

Instructions
1.     House Preparation:
2.     Paint the house black.  I used both black gesso and black spray paint.
3.     Cut walls using sheet of FabScraps Angelic Christmas Collection – I believe paper  C61 002.  Lightly ink the edges of each wall. Glue the paper to all the walls.
4.     Cut door frame and window frames from FabScraps Angelic Christmas Collection – Festive Bells paper  C61 004.
5.     Draw lines in the shutters with a fine tip black marker and glue shutters in place.
6.     Using a texture stamp, add some black stamping to the walls as desired.
7.     Roof/Shingle  Preparation:
8.     Cut  ½ in strips of black cardstock.  Set half the strips aside.  The second half will be backed with either cardboard strips or dimensional tape.  These will be used to achieve a dimensional and varied look to your shingles.
9.     Cut all the paper strips into sections varying from ½ inch up to1in.  Add extra interest to your roof by cutting the pieces on angles, adding jagged edges and making some of the shingles  unique.
10.   Glue the shingles to the roof by starting at the bottom of each roof section. Alternate by gluing a dimensional shingle, then a flat shingle next to it.  When the bottom layer is complete, add the next layer making sure to overlap on top of the layer below it. Alternating your shingles.
11.   Once all shingles are on, you can fill in sparse places on the roof as desired.
12.   Glue mica chips on roofing as desired.
13.   If cardboard is showing on the roof, touch up with black spray paint.
14.   Finishing Touches:
15.   Paint wooden fencing with silver paint and add a touch of black paint to distress.  Glue to sides of the porch.
16.   Glue plastic toy skeleton to the porch.
17.   Spray flowers with a light black mist to grunge up – not totally discolor.  Glue to porch and add one red rose to the skeleton.
18.   Tuck a small plastic skull to the floral cluster.
19.   Cut small pieces of cheese cloth and glue to the roof and windows for spooky cobwebs.
20.   Finish by gluing bats to the roof.
21.   Enjoy.

Flying Unicorns Kit of the Month for Oct - Farmer's Market and Hayrides

Summer has bid her farewell and the morning air is crisp as the leaves turn from greens to golds.
These are the days where weekend mornings are driving down the country lane and stopping at the Farmer's market for some apple cider as the children frolic in the pumpkin patches and tug asking if they to can have a hayride. With the Solace of Fall Flying Unicorn is proud to present to you our October Kit of the month Farmer's Market and Hayrides.

The summer-flower has run to seed,
And yellow is the woodland bough;
And every leaf of bush and weed
Is tipt with autumn’s pencil now.

And I do love the varied hue,
And I do love the browning plain;
And I do love each scene to view,
That’s mark’d with beauties of her reign.
John Clare

Our You Tube channel is filled with great techniques and tutorials to help you grow and learn . Every month as the kit is released we add to our you tube library and this month is no exception. Join Jen this month as she takes you step by step in creating this amazing layout.

Prima Holiday Jubilee Wall Hanging

You can find this project featured on the Prima blog here
This was made as a gift for a friend who just bought a house.  This will be her first Christmas entertaining in her home and I wanted to create something special for her walls for the season.  This will look beautiful against her freshly painted butter cream walls.

The project started out as a little bit of an ugly duckling that I purchased on the clearance rack after Christmas.
I turned it into a Swan with the help of Prima.  You can see the post on Prima's blog here

I added some stenciling with one of my new favorites: 960551 Prima Elementals Stencil and mixed some sand colored paint into the molding paste.  Then I topped with Prima's 570583 Holiday Jubilee Collection - Wood Stickers lightly painted with a white wash.    These wood tag stickers are very pretty and detailed in person.
The panel above also features the Holiday Jubilee Collection - Wood Stickers lightly painted with a white wash as well.  I added a small  floral cluster using  Prima Frost Mini Sachet Flowers and  Prima Winter Branches Icicle, an older product that I have been saving.

You can find all the product coeds listed below for  shopping convenience.   Most times if you copy the Prima product code into whatever internet  shopping site you prefer, the Prima product usually pops up.

This last panel has a paper doily on it to add a delicate touch.  I  painted the paper doily with some Tim Holtz Scattered Straw distress ink.  After adding Prima Frost Mini Sachet Flowers and Prima Soprano E Flowers, I finished my cluster with pearl strings and some pine branch punches.

Thanks for looking.   Happy Holidays...in advance.

I really love the Pink Paislee pastels because they have a calming effect on me. These are pastel perfection when mixed with the softness of Prima embellishments.  They make a spectacular pairing.

I was inspired to create something soft and feminine with the focal point being the Junkyard Findings Ballerina Resins.  The Pink Paislee Color Wash collection gave me plenty of gorgeous soft options.
I decided  to make a little wall hanging for a girl's room.

My cluster includes Prima  Junkyard Findings  Ballerina, Tatiana flowers, Elementals Resist canvas, Charlotte flowers and Prima Flair Buttons from the Delight collection.  You can find all the product codes below to help make your  on-line shopping experience easier.

The resist canvas borders are misted with Pink Paislee's Heidi Swapp Color Shine Mist in Blush.   It is really feminine and magnificent.    The chippy  word stickers are Pink Paislee Colorwash Stickers.

Authentique and Flying Unicorns Team Up

Authentique Seasons  "Autumn"  Collection now available at the Flying Unicorns.
The Creative Team is showcasing the new collections from Authentique and I picked Seasons "Autumn" because I had a fabulous rooster that I wanted to alter and gussy up. These papers are perfect to warm the cool chill in the air as you sit at your craft table.

OK so what did I do here?   This was not a precise project and I had to guess at what a rooster looked like.  I used the metal rooster as my pattern and flipped it over on my Authentique paper in order to get patterns.

I used the wonderful Adornments in the Flying Unicorn store for his headpiece and his neck.  I rubbed the metal adornments down with Rub N Buff - Gold leaf.   I love this  stuff and use it often.
His head and neck have some Prima fabric leaves that I have been hoarding.  It added rich texture to my rooster.

I do have to tell you a little story about the rooster.
I was holed up in my crafty nook - eyes darting about to find embellishments ...fingers working frantically....cuss words a flyin from the other members in the family because there is nothing to eat since grocery shopping has been neglected by me.

YET - boxes are piling up on the front step by Mr Postie.     No groceries but plenty of scrappy goodies.

Here is the real problem....the definition of goodies has been warped in our home.  When husband and kids says please buy some goodies,  I listen and head to the Flying Unicorn shop to buy goodies but NOT edible ones.   LOL

Sooooooooo  anyway,  I am now done with the rooster  project and emerge from the scrappy room in proud admiration to show the family.   Husband looks at it, scratches his stubble chin.  Raises his eyebrow.
"Hmmmmmm looks like rooster is missing an eye.    He needs one of those GOOGLE EYES or maybe one of those funny eyeballs that dangles from a wire coil. "

I had to run from the room covering my ears in disbelief.   He seriously suggested google eyes.  LOLOLOLLLL    It was a precious moment in our house.

SAY NO to the GOOGLE EYES.  heheh

His tail end consists of a few layers of paper, cardboard and feathers.  I embellished the top layer with the most amazing paste - Studio 490 Wendy Vecchi Metallic Gold Embossing paste.

This is used as an embossing paste and when heated with a heat gun, it leaves a rich gold metallic appearance.  I paired it with an older Prima Stencil 564803.   The gold feather is another metal adornment from Flying Unicorns.

It is interesting that I had a vision for this project in my head. I knew the Authentique papers were going to be perfect.  I had no idea how I was going to execute this, but did a lot of trial and error and did not agonize all that much.  I just moved along, had fun and let the rooster and the papers do the crowing while I listened.

and more from Authentique Seasons Collection
and on to Escape Kitty...( used by permission of Miss Kitty of course)
Kitty loves Autumn as well.  She loves to chase the falling leaves and smell the crisp fresh air.  Not much of a fan of the chilly weather, but is fine to sit out in the cool weather in small doses.
This is a photo of her sitting in some sunflowers -looking like the Queen of  the Autumn Parade.  Don't tell her otherwise.

These Authentique papers really make her shine.

The gold metal adornment is once  again rubbed with Rub N Buff.  I had to assist as Kitty refuses to get the Rub N Buff in her claws.  She watches and directs but refuses to do the dirty messy work.

Come visit the Unicorns store today and pick up a pack before they are gone.
