Sun Sand Surf - Nautical Themed Wall Decor Using Chipboard

Today I'm sharing my take on the August Challenge at Creative Embellishments.  Yes August already but while the summer is flying by, the start of a new month brings the start of a new challenge at Creative Embellishments.

I created a wall hanging/door hanging leading the way to the peaceful respite of sun, sand and surf. My chipboard pieces are: Creative Embellishments - Beach Word Set 1Creative Embellishments - Starfish And Sand DollarsCreative Embellishments - Lighthouse Set Of 4.

The special twist this month is to add a scalloped pattern.  My scalloping was created using a stencil and molding paste.

The image below shows the chipboard pieces featured on this project.  Each piece of chipboard was gently dabbed with white acrylic paint on a sea sponge - keeping treatments super simple.  For this project, less is best.

A little about the stencil used

The stencil is from The Crafter's Workshop - 6 x 6  Wave combined with The Crafters Workshop Light and Fluffy Modeling Paste.  It's a beautiful stencil and I think I'll be enjoying it for a long time.

The Crafter's Workshop - 6 x 6 Doodling Templates - Wave
I added a very inconsistent mixture of white and light blue acrylic paint to the modeling paste for a frothy feel.  I also added white highlights to the stenciling after it was dry to make some of the ocean froth be more.....well.....frothier.

Thanks and Happy crafting.  Don't forget to be bold and join the CE challenge this month.  We are a "judge free" kind group and value your creative imagination.

Seaside Gift Card - Spellbinders Large Die of the Month April19

Spellbinders  - Large Die  for April 2019

Leave it to Spellbinders to design a fabulous and practical die set that can be used as a card, tag set, and gift card holder.  So many ways to use this - I chose to create a decorative envelop for a slide out card.

The envelope was gussied up with the embellishment dies from the set - the gift tag die and the fringe die.

Here is a photo of the die set.  Don't let the image of the die confuse you

Here is a photo of the die set.  Don't let the image of the die confuse you.  Once you see the die in use, you'll smile and realize this is easy, useful for so many occasions and very very cool.

Here is a helpful video produced by Spellbinders to show you how to use the die.

"How to" Video

Here is the video I created to show you what my project looks like.  It's so hard to see and appreciate in photos.

This is an image of the tag and envelope separated.  I opted to use the ship as the flip top of the card.  You can also see the tassel looks worn from years of sun, wind and salt water.  The hemp cord and cheesecloth are extra seaworthy touches.

My paper choice for this project is from Craft Box UK - Seaside Stories.  It's a soft, flowing, peaceful collection perfect for the vision of my card set.

Happy By the Sea - with Spellbinders Card Kits

Spellbinders Card Club Kit for September
Did you know Spellbinders has monthly card kits?
Yes it's true.  They are packed with absolutely everything you need to start creating, including adhesive.

I am playing with Spellbinders Card Club for Sept 18 and I'd love to share  the two cards I made with Sept18's kit.

This is my first card.  I was thrilled that Spellbinders included an adorable starfish die in the kit because I love all things about the sea.  Look how absolutely perfect that starfish is with the silver paper from the kit.  In real life, it shines and adds a bit of pop to the card.

Included in the Sept 18 Card kit box was a pack of die cuts - some of which I used on the cards today; the boat, lighthouse and the whale seen in the second card.  I also added a stamped border using a sentiment stamp included in the kit.

YES!  The sea makes me happy.  It's indeed my happy place.

Here is the second card - still keeping with the ocean theme.
My inspiration for this particular card started with the paper pad from Spellbinders Card kit for Sept.   It had the coolest beautiful piece of scalloped paper - a small shade of purple/pink...a shade of blue to match the whale diecut.

The paper made me envision a sunset at the beach  - a sky filled with blues and pinks blending perfectly together.  A heavenly sunset that adds peace to your evening and makes you believe the world is a perfect place -even if but for a moment.

And that's the feeling that I wanted to capture for this card.  The small sentiment stamps were the perfect finishing touch.

A little more about the kit

Spellbinders really has assembled a great versatile kit.  It's doesn't have just one theme so you are not stuck on one theme all month long.  It's got cars, and feminine flowers, sea creatures and bold stripes.  Masculine or feminine - child or adult, they have thought of it all.

Samples from this kit
Here are some cards I made  with this very SAME kit.  See how versatile this is?
You can see these cards on my post found here.

Caught in A Net - Heart Card

I'm headed to the seashore this week for a wonderful, warm sunny holiday.
In anticipation, I pulled out the seaside collection by Maja Design called Life by the Sea.  I find this collection to be soothing, peaceful and calming.  It's possibly my favorite collection by Maja - timeless, classic and always comforting.

I think the only time I'm not comforted by the collection is when it's almost gone.

These are the papers I used from Life by the Sea by Maja Design
Regatta (B side)
Bottle Message ( A and B side)

In order to give my card an extra pop of nautical fun, I added a chipboard heart net from Creative Embellishments and a flair button.  I think the embellishments accent the papers perfectly.

These are the products I used from Creative Embellishments

Here is one last image to show the dimension of the card.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Happy crafting.

Sea Turtles Card

Under the Sea with Spellbinders
I think I am missing the sunshine where I live.  It's still snowing and cold.   My mind is completely centered on sunshine, warmth and peaceful ocean settings.  Those are my comfort thoughts.

Spellbinders new dies helped me find my peace and tranquility.

I have an assortment of Spellbinders dies that I used from  the  Elegant 3D Vignettes collection by Becca Feeken as well as from Tammy Tutterow - shown below:

How adorable are these sea turtles?  This is the beauty of the Graphic 45 - Sun Kissed  collection.  It's utterly delightful and captivates my heart.

I fussy cut the sea turtles and mounted them on foam to make them come alive with dimension.

Here are some cards that featured these same dies.
You can find the posts using Tammy Tutterow's Sew Sweet Valentine here and here .

You can find more cards using here and here.

Thank you for stopping here and thank you to Spellbinders for inviting me to be part of the Spellblogger Team.  Such a wonderful opportunity to share the best dies in the world.
