Light House Canvas - DIY Home Decor with Creative Embellishments

Welcome to the ocean. The ocean is my happy place and I adore creating a variety of coastal projects to keep me as close as I can be to my favorite place.

Creative Embellishments has a large selection coastal themed products to help with card making, home decor, traditional memory keeping,  scrapbooking, and any crafty idea you can imagine.

Today's feature is an easy  DIY home deco canvas made using Creative Embellishments Wooden Home Decor - Lighthouse and embellished with Creative Embellishments Seagull Set and Starfish and Sand Dollars

The wood wooden Home Decor - Lighthouse  piece is fairly large (4.2" wide and 12" tall ) so I selected an 8"x 10" canvas for the project.  The paper background is a sheet of patterned paper from Stamperia's Sea Land 12x12 collection. It's also the backing behind the wood light house.

I think I am on my 4th reorder of this gorgeous collection.

I used a sea sponge and dabbed the wood light house with white  and light blue acrylic paint - but did not cover the whole piece. I tried to achieve a weathered look - not full coverage.    Tip:  if you find you have "over painted", just take some sand paper to the wood and ruff it up a bit.  You'll get it back to sea worthy perfection in no time.

Summer Beach Cards and Shakers -Creative Embellishments and Buttons Galore

Traditional and Shaker Style Summer Cards

Hi friends.  I'd like to share some cards with a warm beach theme featuring products from Creative Embellishments and Buttons Galore and More.
Sunshine in a card.

Creative Embellishments has some fabulous shells and beach related chipboard designs to help make summer card creating super easy.

Here are the chipboard pieces I used on the cards featured today:

My first card is a shaker.
When creating a card, I am always envisioning the person who will receive the card.  When the card is a shaker, I know the reaction is going to be one of joy and amusement.

It's impossible to have a shaker card without the shaker mix, right?  While doing some on-line shopping, I came across a very unique company that specializes in blending the perfect shaker mix.
yep, true.

As far as  shaker mixes, Buttons Galore and More  has a rainbow of colors and a variety of options to make you smile from ear to ear.  The magic is in the mix.

The product I used on this shaker is called Sparkletz - with some gems, beads, unique sequins, acrylic droplets and more.

My chipboard treatments are minimal - meaning I kept things easy and didn't spend too much time altering the chipboard.  I dabbed the chipboard, Starfish and Sand Dollars
Sea Shells and Fancy Rectangle Frame with white acrylic paint, making sure to leave some of the natural chipboard color showing.

Here are the papers I used on the cards today.
The papers used on this collection are from Ciao Bella - Summer Tales collection.

The second card features some of my favorite sun loving birds - the flamingo.  I recently saw some flamingos in person and was captivated by their grace.
I was equally captivated by the watercolor effect papers by Alexandra Renke.

Happy By the Sea - with Spellbinders Card Kits

Spellbinders Card Club Kit for September
Did you know Spellbinders has monthly card kits?
Yes it's true.  They are packed with absolutely everything you need to start creating, including adhesive.

I am playing with Spellbinders Card Club for Sept 18 and I'd love to share  the two cards I made with Sept18's kit.

This is my first card.  I was thrilled that Spellbinders included an adorable starfish die in the kit because I love all things about the sea.  Look how absolutely perfect that starfish is with the silver paper from the kit.  In real life, it shines and adds a bit of pop to the card.

Included in the Sept 18 Card kit box was a pack of die cuts - some of which I used on the cards today; the boat, lighthouse and the whale seen in the second card.  I also added a stamped border using a sentiment stamp included in the kit.

YES!  The sea makes me happy.  It's indeed my happy place.

Here is the second card - still keeping with the ocean theme.
My inspiration for this particular card started with the paper pad from Spellbinders Card kit for Sept.   It had the coolest beautiful piece of scalloped paper - a small shade of purple/pink...a shade of blue to match the whale diecut.

The paper made me envision a sunset at the beach  - a sky filled with blues and pinks blending perfectly together.  A heavenly sunset that adds peace to your evening and makes you believe the world is a perfect place -even if but for a moment.

And that's the feeling that I wanted to capture for this card.  The small sentiment stamps were the perfect finishing touch.

A little more about the kit

Spellbinders really has assembled a great versatile kit.  It's doesn't have just one theme so you are not stuck on one theme all month long.  It's got cars, and feminine flowers, sea creatures and bold stripes.  Masculine or feminine - child or adult, they have thought of it all.
