Hello crafty friends. I'm here today with some all purpose cards for the summer. I tend to like red, white and blue for the summer because there are so many patriotic holidays and events in the warmer weather.
These two cards feature stamp themed chipboard from Creative Embellishments.
The treatment on the chipboard is simple. I added white acrylic paint to a dry sea sponge and dabbed the chipboard. The sea sponge has an irregular surface with holes here and there much like Swiss cheese. The irregular surface allows the paint to be dabbed softly without full coverage like a paint brush would.
The paper on both cards is from Maja Design in Sweden. It's a classic collection called "Life by the Sea". While it's a nautical collection, the colors are especially great for patriotic projects as well.
Shaker Card for Baby Boy
Today I'd like to share some shaker card boy cuteness using a fabulous line up of products that I adore; Maja Design papers from Sweden, 3D Buttons and shaker mix from Buttons Galore and More, chipboard shaker from Creative Embellishments that's been backed using foil papers from Rinea.
Do you have a challenging time creating baby cards for boys or masculine cards in general? I know I do. If I can start with a strong image as my focal piece, I tend to be more successful in the creative process - for me that means less paper waste from my crazy failed attempts at getting a card put together that satisfies me.
My process started with the Creative Embellishments -Onesie Shaker Set as my inspiration. The onesie is adorable and is great for babies and toddlers too! If you have a moment, check out the giant selection of shakers available at Creative Embellishments.
You can't have a successful shaker without shaker mix to make the magic happen. Am I right?
The sequin mix I used here is from Buttons Galore's Denim Blues Sequin Tin mix - with a rich assortment of deep blues. It's absolutely stunning in person.
Finish off the project with accents of 3D buttons also from Buttons Galore and it can't get any sweeter.
The paper used on this card is a classic collection from Maja Design - Life by the Sea. The names of the papers featured today are; Marina, Sailing and Bottle Message.
This collection has wonderful strong nautical images and colors which I adore for so many occasions but I especially adore when using on a project for a baby boy
A little about the cool textured foil paper I used on the base of the baby onesie. This is from Rinea Frosted Foil Paper - Variety Pack which is a collection of blues, gold and silver textured (called starstruck) and glossy sheets. They are super easy to use, cut, and emboss.
Spellbinders Large Die of the Month for June is one of those dies you won't want to put down. It's a really fun, interactive slider card with embellishing dies that cover all the seasons and holidays.
If you scroll down, you'll find a video from Spellbinders, showing how to use the die set to create your own custom slider.
The adorable die set can be seen in the image below:
Hearts...anniversaries weddings/work, BIG Birthday celebrations
Acorns and Leaves...Autumn, Thanksgiving
Clovers... Good Luck, St Patricks Day, Spring
Snowflakes... Christmas, winter
and the ideas are limitless.......
Watch The Spellbinders Video to see how easy and fun the Large Die of the Month of June is.
This is a special card because it's going to be sent across the world to my nephew who is serving overseas in the military.
A card is a great way to say, "Hello, you are special and I am thinking of you." But an interactive slider card says, "Wow! You are loved, super special AND I really miss you."
The papers I used are from Maja Design in Sweden. I chose two collections to mix to complete the look of my card - papers from the collections; Life by the Sea and Life in the Country. Maja Design collections can often be mixed - it's part of the charm and versatility of Maja Design collections.
The papers used from the Life By the Sea collection:
Drop the Anchor, Bottled Message, West Coast
The papers used from Life in the Country 12x12 collection:
Strawberries with Ice

I'm headed to the seashore this week for a wonderful, warm sunny holiday. In anticipation, I pulled out the seaside collection by Maja Design called Life by the Sea. I find this collection to be soothing, peaceful and calming. It's possibly my favorite collection by Maja - timeless, classic and always comforting. I think the only time I'm not comforted by the collection is when it's almost gone. These are the papers I used from Life by the Sea by Maja Design Regatta (B side)
Bottle Message ( A and B side)
In order to give my card an extra pop of nautical fun, I added a chipboard heart net from Creative Embellishments and a flair button. I think the embellishments accent the papers perfectly. These are the products I used from Creative Embellishments:
