Freedom isn't Free. I am thankful for the brave patriots (past and present) working to keep America free.
Creative Embellishments has some amazing products with patriotic themed designs to celebrate all things patriotic, from shakers to stamps, home decor, chipboard and stencils. My project today features the wood home decor USA shape, flag shaker and some chipboard shapes to accent the piece.
This decor piece is going on my front door. To protect the unfinished wood piece from sun fading, I sprayed the piece with a coat of clear shellac to seal the wood. As you can see, the wood Creative Embellishments uses is clean and unblemished, ready to use.
The flag is a classic iconic design for any patriotic crafty project but a Flag Shaker brings this to a whole new level of crazy decor fun (for me at least - smiling at my craft table because I enjoy the process.)
The shaker pieces were painted using acrylic paints. The shaker was filled with fun shaker mix from Buttons Galore called DooDadz. Great shaker mix makes the shaker all the more fabulous. I like adding shakers to home decor projects because they add a unique, interactive element that is not typical of wall art.
Spellbinders Large Die of the Month for June is one of those dies you won't want to put down. It's a really fun, interactive slider card with embellishing dies that cover all the seasons and holidays.
If you scroll down, you'll find a video from Spellbinders, showing how to use the die set to create your own custom slider.
The adorable die set can be seen in the image below:
Hearts...anniversaries weddings/work, BIG Birthday celebrations
Acorns and Leaves...Autumn, Thanksgiving
Clovers... Good Luck, St Patricks Day, Spring
Snowflakes... Christmas, winter
and the ideas are limitless.......
Watch The Spellbinders Video to see how easy and fun the Large Die of the Month of June is.
This is a special card because it's going to be sent across the world to my nephew who is serving overseas in the military.
A card is a great way to say, "Hello, you are special and I am thinking of you." But an interactive slider card says, "Wow! You are loved, super special AND I really miss you."
The papers I used are from Maja Design in Sweden. I chose two collections to mix to complete the look of my card - papers from the collections; Life by the Sea and Life in the Country. Maja Design collections can often be mixed - it's part of the charm and versatility of Maja Design collections.
The papers used from the Life By the Sea collection:
Drop the Anchor, Bottled Message, West Coast
The papers used from Life in the Country 12x12 collection:
Strawberries with Ice

I am featuring some of Creative Embellishments patriotic chipboard pieces including the new shaker design - the USA Flag Shaker Set filled with Buttons Galore and More shaker mix.
Interactive cards are the current trend. Cards that twist, pop and add that extra bit of surprise when opened. Creative Embellishments is trend setting with it's unique chipboard shaker card designs. And I simply adore shaker cards because they are fun to make, fill, and give.
Wondering what to use for shaker filler?
A great shaker requires the perfect shaker mix to complete the card and make the magic happen. Don't sit at your crafty desk and look around for little bits. You have easy options! You need something as dazzling as the card you just made.
TIP:Add your filler then use a good adhesive to seal the shaker with the pre-cut acrylic piece that comes in the kit. I used Beacons 3-in-1glue because it dries clear and works well with a variety of surfaces ( acrylics, plastics, wood, metal, fabric, canvas).
Here are the chipboard sets used in both of the cards presented today:
I created the cards for the monthly challenge at Creative Embellishments. The inspirational image this month is shown above. The twist for the month is to add banners or pendants to your project.
My inspiration is actually more of an emotion/memory that I get when I look at the challenge image.
I remember the summer festivals, amusement parks and family traditions centered around Memorial Day, July 4th and other patriotic events. I created patriotic projects to tie my feelings and childhood experiences to the challenge.
