Americana Flag Shaker Card - Hope Believe Cherish

Americana never goes out of style.  Today I'm doing a few different things with Americana - showing how an "Every Day" collection can be transformed into an Americana style, and made into a cute shaker.

So let's get shakin' - scroll down and I'll share some simple instructions to make this shaker.

The paper featured today is from Maja Design- Everyday Life 12x12 paper pack - from Sweden. It's filled with great summer/autumn images and colors.

Below is a simple image of how easy this was to create.

I made the base card, then cut out the square to be used for the shaker.  The tulle netting will be the window for the shaker.  Yep, tulle netting is great to use for simple, quick shakers because it has "slack" or allows for space to let shaker mix move freely.

Instructions:

1. Cut a piece of tulle netting big enough to wrap around the paper square.

2. Wrap the tulle around the paper square like a present,  then secure the netting on the back with

double sided tape - leave one side open for filling.

3. Fill with fun shaker mix  ( I used Buttons Galore and More - Coconut Crystalz CRZ100and make sure all sides are glued/taped down so mix doesn't spill out.

Shaker Mix and Finishing Touches on the Card

Finishing touches help complete the card and give it that custom look.  It's all about the details - they do make a difference.  The shaker mix used today is Buttons Galore and More - Coconut Crystalz - beautiful, shimmery gems to represent the stars in the flag.

The next little finishing topper is a 3D button from Buttons Galore and More - Stars & Stripes. While these buttons have plastic shanks, they are quite easy to cut off so the button can be glued flat onto a project.

I also cut some of the journaling words from the Maja Design paper " Journaling - Everyday Life collection".  This sheet has a lot of wonderful words for so many projects.

Watch The Spellbinders Video to see how easy and fun the Large Die of the Month of June is.

This is a special card because it's going to be sent across the world to my nephew who is serving overseas in the military.

A card is a great way to say, "Hello, you are special and I am thinking of you."  But an interactive slider card says, "Wow!  You are loved, super special AND I really miss you."
Fun, right?

The papers I used are from Maja Design in Sweden.  I chose two collections to mix to complete the look of my card - papers from the collections; Life by the Sea and Life in the Country.  Maja Design collections can often be mixed  - it's part of the charm and versatility of Maja Design collections.

Cards With an Americana Twist

I'm here to share a few cards for the end of summer.
It's  the unofficial end to Summer and back to school time for many - the transition to cooler weather.

In the United States, our summers end with one last festive holiday at the beginning of September - Labor Day.  Labor Day is a wonderful day to relax with the family, have a picnic, watch a parade, or just enjoy time off from work.

I used the collection from  Maja Design called, Denim & Friends  paired with some dies from Spellbinders to celebrate Labor Day with some cards that resemble old fashioned  "flag buntings" in my opinion.  I love how a magnificent collection from Sweden and a little imagination with Spellbinders dies can help me celebrate Americana style.

These
are the particular papers I selected for this card.
I used the following:
Stars & Stripes (A & B sides) - shown on the top row
 Stonewashed
 Paisley

The die I used as a bunting is Spellbinders Shapeabilities - Venise Lace - Bella Clair Border by Becca Feeken.  Look how beautiful it is as a flag bunting?

Here is the second card using the same papers.  I added a bit of red cardstock behind the Spellbinders die for a bold pop of color. and I added the Spellbinders Nestabilities Stars Five die.  It's a classic star shape which I consider a staple in my die collection.
