Patriotic USA Wood Home Decor ( Shaker Art)

 

Freedom isn't Free.  I am thankful for the brave patriots (past and present) working to keep America free.

Creative Embellishments has some amazing products with patriotic themed designs to celebrate all things patriotic, from shakers to stamps, home decor, chipboard and stencils. My project today features the wood home decor USA shape, flag shaker and some chipboard shapes to accent the piece.

Today  I am featuring a home decor piece celebrating freedom using:   United States - Wood Home Decor.

This decor piece is going on my front door.  To protect the unfinished wood piece from sun fading,  I sprayed the piece with a coat of clear shellac to seal the wood.  As you can see, the wood Creative Embellishments uses is clean and unblemished, ready to use.

 

The sentiment, Freedom Isn't Free,  and the Creative Embellishments chipboard  Star Pieces were also kept simple and painted with vanilla acrylic paint.  

Let's Talk About the Shaker

 The flag is a classic iconic design for any patriotic crafty project but a  Flag Shaker  brings this to a whole new level of crazy decor fun (for me at least - smiling at my craft table because I enjoy the process.)  

The shaker pieces were painted using acrylic paints. The shaker was filled with fun shaker mix from Buttons Galore called DooDadz.  Great shaker mix makes the shaker all the more fabulous.  I like adding shakers to home decor projects because they add a unique, interactive element that is not typical of wall art.

Teddy Bear Tags - Shakers

Hello.  Jennifer Snyder here sharing a large shaker tag made for my granddaughter to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.  She's 9 months old and this is her first St. Patrick's Day - which happens to be a big deal in my household because my husband is in a band that features Irish music for the local pubs in New York, where we live.  

This is my interpretation of "baby Irish" - using Maja Design's classic Fika collection, still my favorite collection for it's rich chocolate browns, , creams, greens and purples.  Just thinking about it makes me feel like a chocolaty treat.

Here is a close up of the beautiful papers and the chipboard teddy bear shaker from Creative Embellishments.  It's filled with shaker mix from Buttons Galore, to help make the shaker "come to life".  The shaker mix adds that "bit'o lucky charm", as my husband would say.

Celebrate Cats and Dogs - Shaker Cards with Pet Friendly Products

 

Celebrating Our Cats and Dogs 

Hello friends.  As we say goodbye to a rather challenging year, I want end 2020 with a "PAWsitive" post celebrating the furry members of our families.  Pets bring such comfort and joy into our lives. 

I appreciate when the crafting companies like Authentique and Creative Embellishments share their love for pets by offering pet themed crafting products.

 

Through the years Authentique has featured cats and dogs in their collections such as:

The cards today were created using the Companions collection  - just one of the fabulous pet themed collections from Authentique.  I used the 6"x6" paper pad.  

I love the mini sentiment cards that are included in the collection.  The first card, a kitty card, has the following sentiment inside the shaker paw: 

"Some things just fill your heart without trying." 

The cat chipboard shaker set is from Creative Embellishments  and was painted with cream acrylic paint, and topped with Ranger Crackle Accents  to create texture.  Gold glitter was lightly sprinkled on the Crackle Accents while it was still wet.  This allowed the glitter to permanently set into the crackle accents and not fall off.  

The shaker was filled with Velvet sequin mix from Buttons Galore and More then embellished with a  3D Paw Print Buttons from Buttons Galore. 

The Dog Shaker Card

In the spirit of being equal, I created a companion dog shaker card using the Authentique's Companions collection.  The adorable sentiment here says: 

"The path to my heart is paved with paw prints."

The dog card used similar products:  chipboard dog shaker set from Creative Embellishments, Doo Dadz Caribbean Sea shaker mix from Buttons Galore, brown gingham ribbon, and  3D Paw Print Buttons from Buttons Galore.

Snow Globe Shaker Card - Christmas in July

Hello crafty friends.  I'm here to present a snow globe shaker card celebrating Christmas in July using one of Maja Design's wonderful Christmas collections, Holiday in the Alps.  

Outside, it's hot enough to melt a snowman in minutes, but inside my craft table is filled with frosty papers and smiling snowmen.  I love it!  

Holiday in the Alps is a beautiful classic Christmas collection with a vintage look.

The Shaker

The chipboard snow globe shaker is from Creative Embellishments.  It's easy to assemble and comes with the acrylic window -which makes me smile because I don't have to scrounge for acrylic like I do when I make my own shakers. 

The best glue to use when assembling the shakers is one with a small tip  to control the amount of glue.  

My favorite glue to use on shakers is Nuvo - Deluxe Adhesive because it dries clear, has a strong bond, dries fast, and has a small nozzle. 

The chipboard has been painted with white acrylic paint then topped with Stamperia's Glamour Gel in Sparkling White. It dries with a beautiful shimmering sheen.  The photos do not do this justice because I can't capture the beauty and shimmer effect.  But it's exactly what you want if you are creating a winter wonderland.
