Stars and Stripes Patriotic Shaker Cards to Shake up Your Summer

Patriotic Cards
I am featuring some of Creative Embellishments patriotic chipboard pieces including the new shaker design - the USA Flag Shaker Set filled with Buttons Galore and More shaker mix.

Interactive cards are the current trend. Cards that twist, pop and add that extra bit of surprise when opened.   Creative Embellishments is trend setting with it's unique chipboard shaker card designs. And I simply adore shaker cards because they are fun to make, fill, and give.

Wondering what to use for shaker filler?
A great shaker requires the perfect shaker mix to complete the card and make the magic happen.

Don't sit at your crafty desk and look around for little bits.  You have easy options! You need something as dazzling as the card you just made.

I filled my card with sequins and beads from Buttons Galore / 28 Lilac Lane ( Metallic Mix).   They have an assortment of sequins, beads, buttons in a rainbow of colors and styles creating the perfect shaker mix.

TIP:  Add your filler then use a good adhesive to seal the shaker with the pre-cut acrylic piece that comes in the kit.  I used Beacons 3-in-1glue because it dries clear and works well with a  variety of surfaces ( acrylics, plastics, wood, metal, fabric, canvas).

Here are the chipboard sets used in both of the cards presented today:

I created the cards for the monthly challenge at Creative EmbellishmentsThe inspirational image this month is shown above.  The twist for the month is to add banners or pendants to your project.

My inspiration is actually more of an emotion/memory that  I get when I look at the challenge image.
I remember the summer festivals, amusement parks and family traditions centered around Memorial Day, July 4th and other patriotic events.  I created patriotic projects to tie my feelings and childhood experiences to the challenge.

I kept the chipboard simple in both cards by embossing the surfaces with clear embossing liquid, and coating with Stampendous CHUNKY GOLD DEEP IMPRESSION Embossing Enamel.  It adds a rich vintage gold to the chipboard.

DIY Tutorial -Quick Cards in 10 Minutes with Banner Stamps From JustRite

10 Minute Cards using Banner Clear Stamps by JustRite

I love making cards. Mine tend to be ornate and embellished and quite decorative but I'm really starting to love simple, quick cards that people can actually make  with minimal supplies.

That's exactly the beauty of stamps.  They can be used over and over again...and with the Planner Banner Stamps by JustRite , the possibilities are endless for personalized thoughtful cards.

I do have some tips and a simple step-by-step to share that will make the process go quickly and successfully.  If you scroll down a bit, you'll see all three cards I made as samples to demonstrate the the versatility of the Banner Clear Stamps.

Here is an image of the JustRite Planner Banner Alphabet Clear Stamps .  Fun right?

For my first card I used the following stamps by JustRite Papercrafts with focus on the Banner Stamps:

Here is my step-by-step  with tips:
Step 1.  Paint design onto watercolor paper.  I am using Prima's Watercolor Confections - Classics set,  along with the Prima waterbrush.  It's really important to let this dry completely.  You can dry with a heat gun if you have one available.  Watercolor paints really do work best with watercolor paper.
Step 2.   After the watercolors are totally dry, you can decide where you'd like the banner to go and trace an arch for the banner ribbon onto the card.

I am a simple gal so I grabbed a glass from my cupboard and used that to make my perfect arch.  No need to get fancy on this 10 minute project.
Step 3.  The arch will help you decide where to place your letters.  So much easier than guessing where your banner stamps should go (which is what I started out unsuccessfully doing).   At this point, once the stamps are as you desire, pull out your acrylic stamp block.

Do NOT stamp yet.  I know you want to but fight the urge!
Step 4.  OK now you can stamp.  Place your acrylic block over the stamps and pick them up as a complete set.  My suggestion is to do the banners and sentiment separately for better results.   At this point, you need to make sure the watercolors are bone dry for the best stamping results.

Step 5.  Use the JustRite A2 Card Front Basic Dies to  quickly cut perfect colored background mats. Glue to pre-folded cards.    Continue to decorate the card as desired.

The second card is bright and fun.  I had graduation in mind yet it's so versatile that it can really be for many occasions.  Card two and three are simply variations of the same card but show how colors ,make such a difference in the final result.
These are the JustRite products used on card two and three.

Once again, card three is similar to card two, just showing the possibilities.

These are the products in card three.
