Do you have a tradition of giving someone a new ornament each year?  I know many folks have a tradition of giving a new ornament each year to their children, grandchildren, teachers, etc.  

This is a quick and inexpensive idea, and one made with love and crafty talent. 

Each of my ornaments are double sided so the beauty can be viewed from all angles. 

My first ornament features the Winter Artist Trading Coins and the frosty beauty of winter.  Each ornament uses the solid chipboard Artist Trading Coin as the base of the ornament.  

I added some decorative silver cord trim on the edges for accent and a finishing touch.

Easy DIY Shaker Cards Using Artist Trading Coins (ATC's) - Tutorial

This month I am shaking things up....With a DIY Shaker Card. 

   My take is a warm old fashioned Christmas shaker card and traditional card with "Jingle Bells"...Creative Embellishments style.    

The shaker card features the newly released Artist Trading Coins and Winter Artist Trading Coins decorated with some extra Chipboard Snowflakes.  Scroll down and check out the tutorial for the shaker card.

I've become obsessed with Creative Embellishments newest trend - the Artist Trading Coins (a cool new take on the Artist trading Cards).  Because I like making cards,  it's the perfect product for card making and encouraging my love of SHAKER CARDS!

Easy DIY Instructions:

Step 1 - Start with these three chipboard products - Artist Trading Coins, 

Winter Artist Trading Coins (2 packages)

Chipboard Snowflakes

I sponge painted the solid chipboard coin, some snowflakes and one of the snowflake coins.  I inked the other coin for accent and contrast.  I used a sponge because it "dapples" the chipboard with paint and does not coat  completely.  I like the effect.  

TIP: Use a sponge because it "dapples" the chipboard with paint and does not coat completely.  You can bunch up some paper towels or rags for the same effect.    

Step 2 - Place acrylic behind one coin (using a strong glue like Beacons 3-1 to hold the acrylic in place) - Artist Trading Coins,

Chipboard Snowflakes

Glue the second coin to the solid chipboard coin and fill with your shaker material...beads, sequins, glitter.  Now you are ready to close up your shaker with the acrylic backed piece.

Autumn Thanksgiving Cards

Happy Thanksgiving.  I'm here to share some Thanksgiving wishes.  

My cards are adorned with fabulous chipboard designs from Creative Embellishments.  

The two cards presented today feature a few of the unique and fabulous autumn chipboard shapes designed by Creative Embellishments.  So many options in design - such a fun decision to make.  I selected the following chipboard to showcase:

Acorn Clusters

Cornucopia Set 2

I treated the chipboard Acorn Clusters quite simply.  The Acorn Clusters have  been heat embossed by dabbing  Clear Embossing Ink onto the chipboard and then coating with  Stampendous - Frantage Aged Gold Embossing Enamel  or  Fine Antique Gold Embossing Powder .  A quick blast with a heat gun to heat set and you have gorgeous aged acorns and leaves.

The aged gold also looks great with my paper choice, The Story of Fall from Echo Park.    

Top the card with some robust flowers and raffia, and it's all wrapped up.  I love raffia for fall/Autumn pieces.  It feels so earthy and warm to me. 

My second card showcases one of Creative Embellishments coolest Thanksgiving designs - Cornucopia Set 2. And the little veggies/fruits....well they are so darling.  

The cornucopia is a strong symbol of abundance - and at Thanksgiving time, it symbolizes the abundance of goodness, thankfulness and blessings.  

My chipboard has been painted with acrylics and then enhanced with dabbs of Stickles Glitter Glue - Sprinkled Sugar.
