Embossed Christmas Cards - Spellbinders

Spellbinders has a fabulous embossing folder for the holidays :
Flurry of Snowflakes 3D Embossing Folder from the Christmas Collection.  I decided use gold and metallic paper to make the embossing stand out.

Today I am combining the embossing folder with other Spellbinders releases to make festive Christmas cards.

Snowflake Cards - Using Spellbinders Small Die of the Month

Winter Cards in Summer - Spellbinders Small Die of the Month for August

It's summer and I'm thinking of snow fall?  Well, yes, but I'm not wishing summer away.  I'm just preparing for the future using the August Spellbinders Small Die of the Month

This month's die set provides the option to completely customize your cards for endless creativity.

The tiny alphabet included in the Small Die set is perfect for creating customized sentiments.
The dies are also great for layering.

What's fascinating with this die set is seeing how others are inspired.  Do they imagine creating summer flowers from the set?  Leaves for autumn?  Custom patterns?  What is your imagination seeing?

I chose silver, purple and blue combination because that always seems like frosty beauty to me.
The silver is glitter paper and the purple /blue was created using Distress Inks from Tim Holtz.

As always, Spellbinders monthly dies are only available through Spellbinders on-line store. Don't miss out.

Thank you for stopping here.

Snowflake Shaker Gift Box - Home Decor for Christmas

DIY Home Decor Box with a Shaker Top

Tis the season to set aside time to create.  As busy as the season can get, do not forget to set aside time for you. Time to make gifts, a card, home decor or whatever, but carve out some YOU time.

I took my own advice and made a decorative box  for candy.  It's been decorated using a combination of chipboard snowflakes from Creative Embellishments, and 3D Buttons from Buttons Galore and More and papers form Maja Design in Sweden.

I created a home decor decorated box to fill with candy or a small gift.  This box is unique in that the lid has a beautiful shaker resting on top.  The coordinating patterns in the Maja Design collections are always perfect for fabulous layered projects.

I've added a vintage shaped  Snowflake Shaker Set from Creative Embellishments snowflake shaker from Creative Embellishments to the top of the box that completes the frosty winter theme of the box.   The wonderful thing about  shaker sets from Creative Embellishments is that every chipboard shaker set comes with a piece of perfectly cut acrylic to complete the shaker.  When creating a shaker, the acrylic is always the most stressful part for me and CE has taken that stress element out of "the mix".  LOL, excuse the pun.

I dabbed white acrylic paint on the chipboard pieces  to give a nice vintage look, but did not totally paint the pieces.

The shaker then was filled with fun and sparkly shaker mix from  Buttons Galore - Sparkletz December Dream  - a perfect frosty filler.

I made this project  using the new Maja Design - Holiday in the Alps paper collection.  This is such a gorgeous collection to see up close, with amazing patterns, rich reds and frosty blues as you can see  from the image below:

The front of the box was embellished with a combination of chipboard snowflakes and adorable 3D buttons from Buttons Galore .  In addition to fun shaker mixes and sequin blends, Buttons Galore and More also has the sweetest 3D buttons which make for perfect toppers and finishing touches for projects, cards and home decor.

The 3D buttons - Winter Woolies Hat/Mitten Set just happen to match perfectly with the Maja Design paper collection I am using.

Easy DIY Shaker Cards Using Artist Trading Coins (ATC's) - Tutorial

Jennifer Snyder here to present my interpretation of the The December Challenge at Creative Embellishments.
Have you joined in one of the monthly challenges yet?  Now is the time...the prize is fabulous and the rules are easy.

This month I am shaking things up....With a DIY Shaker Card.
My take is a warm old fashioned Christmas shaker card and traditional card with "Jingle Bells"...Creative Embellishments style.
The shaker card features the newly released Artist Trading Coins and Winter Artist Trading Coins decorated with some extra Chipboard Snowflakes.  Scroll down and check out the tutorial for the shaker card.

These are the chipboard pieces I used on the two cards presented today:

I've become obsessed with Creative Embellishments newest trend - the Artist Trading Coins (a cool new take on the Artist trading Cards).  Because I like making cards,  it's the perfect product for card making and encouraging my love of SHAKER CARDS!

Easy DIY Instructions:
Step 1 - Start with these three chipboard products - Artist Trading Coins

I sponge painted the solid chipboard coin, some snowflakes and one of the snowflake coins.  I inked the other coin for accent and contrast.  I used a sponge because it "dapples" the chipboard with paint and does not coat  completely.  I like the effect.

TIP: Use a sponge because it "dapples" the chipboard with paint and does not coat completely.  You can bunch up some paper towels or rags for the same effect.

Step 2 - Place acrylic behind one coin (using a strong glue like Beacons 3-1 to hold the acrylic in place) - Artist Trading Coins

Glue the second coin to the solid chipboard coin and fill with your shaker material...beads, sequins, glitter.  Now you are ready to close up your shaker with the acrylic backed piece.
Some close ups of the shaker card.

This is the second card I made for the challenge using the beautiful Creative Embellishments  - Jingle Bells.  The chipboard has been lightly coated in Silver Embossing Powder and heat set.
