Halloween and Thanksgiving Cards - Using Spellbinders

Spellbinders Large Die of the Month Club
Did you know Spellbinders has a variety of monthly die clubs?
Yes it's true -they have a Small Die of the Month and Large Die of the Month Club -plus combinations of both.
The dies selected each month are exclusively created for the clubs.

This month, I have the privilege of playing with Spellbinders Large Die of the Month  for October called Truckin Through the Season.   You can see the image below.   I've got to say, this die set includes elements for every season making this perfect to use all year long.  I love that kind of clever versatility.

Truckin Through the Seasons - Large Die of the Month Club

I focused on the two upcoming holidays in the US - Halloween and then Thanksgiving.
My first card was so much fun to make.  As you can see, I created a haunted car and used the pumpkins as my halloween accents.  Well that and some nips  of cheesecloth tucked here and there.

This is my second card featuring a Thanksgiving theme for the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday.  Like many of us, I have family that live far away and cannot join us at the dinner table this year.  In fact, both of my sons relocated to different states and we are first-time empty nesters.

One guess who's getting these cards?

The die set has a sweet vine die so I created a little pumpkin swag.  I also added foam to the back of the "Thanks" diecut for dimension to look like the back end of a pickup.

As you can see, with a few small changes of paper and color, you can easily change the theme of the card.   The paper choice on this card is from Reminisce - Best of Harvest Collection Autumn Plaids.

I also created a Christmas card with this same die set.  You can see the details for the Christmas card here.

You can also find this card here.

Wedding Romance in Denim- Grapevine Heart Card

Today I'd like to share a wedding card I made for my beautiful niece and her dashing prince.

My paper choice is Maja Design - Denim & Friends.  You might say it's an odd choice for a wedding because the collection is Denim.   But this is exactly why Maja Design papers are so amazing.  Each collection is versatile, ranging from feminine to masculine and can be used for a variety of projects.

These are the papers I chose from Denim & Friends
Floral
Sun-bleached (both A and B side)
Fashion (B side)

I accented the card with some chipboard pieces from Creative Embellishments to help set the mood for love and romance.
The Grapevine Heart Frame has been lightly dabbed with paint and the script word has been natural  to match with the papers.

These are the pieces I used:

***NOTE - this Grapevine Heart Frame used on the card has been specially sized for a card.   I requested this to be smaller when I placed my order.  I placed my request on the order form in the "Notes" section.  This grapevine heart wreath is approx. 4.5"x4".  ***

I hope I showed you that Maja Design's fun loving collection, Denim & Friends can be turned into a romantic wedding card.

Spooky Halloween Home Decor Canvas

Hello friends.   Today I'm here with a Halloween Canvas to decorate for the spook-fest later this month (Halloween).

This is a fun and whimsical piece of home decor that features a few of Creative Embellishments amazing designs:

I kept this canvas somewhat simple.  The canvas board is sized 6"x8".  I painted the board with Soft Matte Gel Medium and then applied a layer of cheese cloth to the canvas board.

The gel medium dries clear, protects the canvas board from getting dirty, and acts as a great adhesive enabling me to apply a layer of white cheese cloth right to the canvas.

Next I painted the  Spider Web Circle Frame with black acrylic paint and then coated the spider web frame with Prima Finnabair Soft Matte Gel Medium  and adhering to the canvas.

I dabbed some white acrylic paint onto the mummies and glued small strips of cheesecloth to the Mummies.

Once the canvas was assembled, I backed with patterned paper from Pebbles (Midnight Haunting collection) and taped the entire piece to a frame with the glass removed.  This way, the canvas can be dimensional and be a fun table top holiday piece.

Here is a shot to show the dimension of the mummy and the Pumpkin Faces.
I did add black fun foam to the back of the mummy for additional dimension.

Spooky Halloween - DIY Cards

Hello and welcome to October.
The month where the spooky festivities begin.  Such a unique month - one of transition from warm to cool, lawn mowing to leaf raking, whimsical carefree summer to spooky autumn.

So that can only mean one thing.........crack out those Creative Embellishments  Halloween chippies and dive right into DIY Halloween cards.

My cards were created for the October challenge at Creative Embellishments which focuses on the image below.     I took my inspiration from the skull on the black image.

Creative Embellishments chipboard helps make DIY cards simple and quick because the designs are clever and outstanding.
I made two cards using chipboard from Creative Embellishments:

The Trick or Treaters are painted with black /white acrylic paint in silhouette style and placed on bold papers to make the silhouettes pop.  Noting too fancy here.

My second card incorporates Steampunk Skulls accented with Mini Gears 3/4in .

While this looks fancy, it's still quite simple.
The Steampunk Skulls and Mini Gears 3/4in were painted with acrylic paints.  Once dried, I added some Stickles glitter glue to the gears.

Next I coated with Skull with Ranger Crackle Accents  - Crackle Medium
and accented with gears and gems.

Your inspiration for the Creative Embellishments monthly challenges can be interpreted as you please but it must have a piece of Creative Embellishments chipboard on it.
