Spellbinders Large Die of the Month for December is filled with love and hearts. While our minds are on the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays, the December Large Die of the Month club helps you stay a step ahead and prepared to share the love in 2023.
Hello crafty friends. Each month Creative Embellishments presents a challenge to help exercise our creative imagination. The February Challenge at Creative Embellishments is Black and White Plus 1 Color.
These monthly challenges provide a great opportunity to join the fun and perhaps try something outside your comfort zone. Black and white is waaaayyyyy outside my comfort zone so quite a great exercise for my brain.
The Creative Embellishments chipboard pieces chosen today: Moon Fairies with Wings and Cupid Set - Valentine's Day. The pieces were painted with acrylic paints and the gold moon has a metallic acrylic paint finish.
The paper choice is Authentique's Timeless Collection 6x6 pad. shhhhh the white is really cream, so don't rat me out , ok? But exquisite paper collection for a touch of black and cream colored elegance.

Today I am sharing a card made using Spellbinders Amazing Paper Grace (APG) Die of the Month of February paired with the with the hearts from Spellbinders Large Die of the Month from January and the gorgeous cheery Little Street Cafe paper collection by Maja Design of Sweden.
Delicate and graceful - that's the signature look for Spellbinders APG (Amazing Paper Grace dies) created by Becca Feeken.
This set is very cool and is a sort of slider /pop-up card

In addition to the collection, I used the companion monochrome collection, Shades of Cafe, a set of solid cardstock created to perfectly match the patterned paper.

I am sending this card to a wonderful lifelong friend with a Valentine's Day Birthday. Don't you think these colors are warm and happy? I just know they will melt her heart.
My card opens to a surprise inside.
The sweet image in on the inside of the card was cut from the die cut sheet.

I'm getting ready for Valentines Day by making a DIY shaker home decor piece to hang on my wall. To be truthful, I was going to gift this to my friend, but I can't part with it. Is that bad? Don't judge me...haaaaaaaa. We all fall in love with some pieces and can't part with them.
If you are like me, I have forever been frustrated using beads and even sequins on my work. Pike it up and the beads and sequins flake off to the floor top sweep up. Very discouraging. Soon there are no little glass beads left on the project.
What's the best way to keep the little beads, sequins and buttons on a mixed media piece like this? Where ever I wantedembellishments, I slathered a generous amount ofPrima - Finnabair - Heavy Body Gel directly on the wood or chipboard.
Why this particular product? It dries totally clear and NOT glossy. And because it's super thick and the beads and sequins can relax into the gel a bit to hold...not sink and be covered.
I like to think the embellishments are being hugged by the gel medium and gently encouraged to hang around to be enjoyed.
The big bold red button focal embellishment is also from Buttons Galore's Cookie Jar full of Fancy Gold Buttons - a gorgeous, rich collection of various gold buttons; some have jewels, some look vintage, some are shiny, a wonderful surprise in the jar.
