Mouse Theme Day at the Park Card and Wall Plaque

Let's Go to the Magical Theme Park 

Let's take a virtual a trip to the magical theme park with the help of Creative Embellishments chipboard and Buttons Galore and More's Sprinkletz shaker mix and 3D Buttons.  

  Spring break vacations and upcoming summer vacations are a popular time for vacations to magical theme parks.  

I made a shaker card and wall plaque commemorating such a trip.  The chipboard pieces used in my card are shown below.  The chipboard pieces were painted with acrylics then embossed with clear embossing powder for a nice glossy finish.

I love Creative Embellishments -Circle Shaker Set for it's versatility.  It can be used to create such a wide variety of shakers and themes.  

I also had a lot of fun creating the vacation theme with the luggage.  It really sets the tone for a trip full of fantasy and theme park magic. 

The adorable shaker mix and 3D buttons are from Buttons Galore.  The 3D buttons look cute adorning the outside of the card but are also fun as shaker elements too.

The bold, bright, theme park paper used is Photo Play's "Another Day at the Park" collection.  I like the 6x6 paper pads in Photo Play because the prints are smaller and great for cards.

My next park themed project is a wall plaque complete with a big mesh bow resembling mouse ears ( in my mind at least).  This piece is a simple wood pre-pained plaque from a big box craft store.  I added the  Creative Embellishments -chipboard Star Doodle Set also painted white to blend yet remain a focal point.  

Next came the large Creative Embellishments -Dream Word Set with it's bold inspirational words, "dream" and "imagine"  - so very iconic for the theme park.  I left the chipboard very basic and painted with acrylics.

Last finishing touch was to add the 3D buttons, once again from Buttons Galore and More.

Love - DIY Shaker Home Decor Wall Hanging

DIY Valentines Day Shaker Wall Hanging

I'm getting ready for Valentines Day by making a DIY shaker home decor piece to hang on my wall.  To be truthful, I was going to gift this to my friend, but I can't part with it.  Is that bad?  Don't judge me...haaaaaaaa.  We all fall in love with some pieces and can't part with them.  

I actually bought a  Hanging wood wall decor piece from Hobby Lobby that said, "You are so loved".  Half price too!  Can't beat that. 

The sign started off good but I knew I could make it better by gussying with chipboard from Creative Embellishments  and cheery shaker mix Buttons Galore and More.   


I combined the "Love Makes the World Go Round" chipboard  wreath and veneer Conversation Hearts from Creative Embellishments to decorate my piece.  The wreath with cream acrylic paint and topped with Crackle Accents - Crackle Medium.

Every fun shaker needs cool fabulous shaker mix.  I used mix from Buttons Galore and More to bedazzle my wall hanging. 

28 Lilac Lane - Embellishment Kit - Love Story

If you are like me, I have forever been frustrated using beads and even sequins on my work.  Pike it up and the beads and sequins flake off to the floor top sweep up.  Very discouraging.  Soon there are no little glass beads left on the project. 

What's the best way to keep the little beads, sequins and buttons on a mixed media piece like this?  Where ever I wanted embellishments, I slathered a generous amount of Prima - Finnabair - Heavy Body Gel directly on the wood or chipboard.  

Why this particular product?  It dries totally clear and NOT glossy.   And because it's super thick and the beads and sequins can relax into the gel a bit to hold...not sink and be covered.  

I like to think the embellishments are being hugged  by the gel medium and gently encouraged to hang around to be enjoyed.   

Want beads to stick? ....slather on the Heavy Body Gel .  

Want to add a big bold button?  slather and glob

Need sequins to behave?  Yep slather and stick. 

The big bold red button focal embellishment is also from Buttons Galore's Cookie Jar full of Fancy Gold Buttons  - a gorgeous, rich collection of various gold buttons; some have jewels, some look vintage, some are shiny, a wonderful surprise in the jar.

Petaloo - Thanksgiving Home Decor - Pumpkin Wall Hanging

Hello.  I'm here to share my VERY FIRST post as the new member of Petaloo's Design Team.  I must tell you how excited I am to be part of this talented family.  Thanks Petaloo, for this opportunity.

To start my Petaloo adventure ( you can see the post at Petaloo by clicking here), I chose a home decor piece to hang on my front door and celebrate autumn.  Something fun and colorful.  

Here are a few close ups of the wonderful assortment of Petaloo blooms I used to adorn my piece ranging from Petaloo's gorgeous velvet autumn leaves, to the textured flowers and some older Petaloo berry sprays that I have been hoarding.  

This started as a plain wooden wall hanging that needed to be covered.  My goal was to make this project resemble a patchwork pumpkin with a wide assortment of patterns and textures.   I chose warm golden tones from Echo Park's "Fall is in the Air" collection.  

Once the gorgeous Petaloo embellishments and rafia bow were added, the result was a fun, happy and cheery piece to decorate my front door and welcome friends and family.
