Birthday Cards Created By Adapting Spellbinders Slimline Collection

Birthday Cards  - Adapted from Spellbinders Slimline Collection

When I am shopping for new products, versatility is king.  Products need to have multiple purpose and functionality.  I also love products that can be used through the year and with a bit of creativity can be used in multiple ways.

Slimline cards are trendy lately.  These are long cards measuring  3.5" by 8.5", which conveniently fit into a standard business sized envelope.

Today I am featuring Spellbinders Flowering Slimline Etched Dies from the Slimline Collection however I am not creating a slimline card.  I'm showing alternative ways to use the die set from Spellbinders new collection of Slimline dies.  The sentiment on the card is also part of the collection;  Spellbinders Essential Sentiments Clear Stamp from the Slimline Collection

Additional Information

The sentiment stamp was stamped with Fun Stampers Journey  - Black Licorice True Color Fusion Ink Pad.  This black is robust, dries quickly and does not bleed  leading to a crisp clear stamped image.

Bright Watercolor Slimline Cards - Spellbinders Stamp of the Mont and Large Die of the Month

Slimline Cards  Using Spellbinders Monthly Club Kits

Did you know Spellbinders has a Stamp of the Month club?
.Spellbinders Clear Stamp of the Month Club for April 2021 is unique because it provide opportunities to create traditional sized cards or venture off to the world of the slimline card, especially when paired with Spellbinders Large Die of the Month for April.

I created two cards demonstrating the options available with the stamp set.

My cards were created using smooth surface watercolor paper.  I do not prefer stamping on paper that has any texture because I cannot get the images crisp.

The first card is more of an autumn themed card, but can be modified to be any season by changing the colors used.
Note: I repeated the stamp pattern to follow the slimline die.
Additional Information

These pencils are amazing.  The set has an array of colors that capture most every color I need.  The pigmentation is rich and blends so wonderfully.  I do use a paint brush for blending.  I have yet to find a water brush pen that I like.

Here is the second card - a birthday theme.  I repeated the stamp here as well to follow the flow of the slimline die.  I did use a stamping platform and blending brushes on these cards.  I am a giant fan of stamping platforms to achieve a perfect image.  There are many platforms on the market but I remain a devoted MISTI (Most Incredible Stamp Tool Invented) person.

I colored the candles with Spellbinders / Fun Stampers Journey Color Splash Watercolor Pencils and matched the Distress Inks used on the dies.  Scroll down and I will show you the Distress inks used here.

Bright Birthday Cards with Borders - Spellbinders Clear Stamp of the Month

Bright Bold Birthday Cards- Spellbinders Stamp of the Month

Did you know Spellbinders had a Stamp of the Month club?

My cards are bold because I really need to create some cards for young men in my family.  While I am sure they appreciate cards adorned with flowers and fabulous embellishments, I decided to streamline and leave flat - let the stamping and borders have the spotlight.

Sometimes I get carried away with my embellishing details when I need cool functionality.  These days I cannot get to the post office as much as I'd like to so cards needs to be flat so they can get to their destination on time.
