Flying Unicorns Dress form and Video

Hello friends!
We are THRILLED that the September  kit of the month was such a wild success.  And we graciously thank you for both your enthusiasm and your support.  In case you did miss the Sept. kit, you can now pre-order your kit so you never miss out.  Pre-orders start the 20th of every month.

Each month Alda packs a project into the main kit we lovingly call the "OTP",  or "Off the Page"  project meaning it's anything BUT a layout.   It's ranged from boxes to park benches, hangers to alter and "dress up", bird houses, wall cuckcoo clocks.  I can only imagine what's in store for future kits.  I've asked Alda to spill it - give us a little hint - but she's pretty tight lipped.  So no go on any hints for Oct.  Till then, let's enjoy and work on September's OTP because it's one of the best yet in my opinion.

September's "OTP" is a paper mache dress form standing a proud 13 inches tall and begging to be dressed, gussied up and totally fussed over.  As kits arrive at houses all around the world and are unpacked, I can hear a collective sigh..."oh dear - how beautiful, but how am I going to tackle this and where the heck do I start?"

Ahhhhh, I have put together a quick video to help.   I am hoping your sigh will now be one of relief and clarity as your mind starts to assemble plans. In fact, I know you are a crafty bunch and can accomplish amazing projects.  I have seen some dress forms rolling across the Flying Unicorn Facebook page    ( seen here) as well as in the forum gallery ( seen here).  Please upload your dress form there when you are done.  We are excited to see it.
I created a short (very short at under 5 mins!) showing you how I completed my project.  I hope this helps you start your dress form.

I used the Maja Design FIKA collection for my bodice and the hat.  The hat template is found in the Flying Unicorns templates from Tammy found here.  You may have to scroll down the templates page but look for HATS - and Tammy's name.

Our main kit  can be found here for Sept so you can see what was included.

special note - I sprayed the dress form white first.  After that, I started to decorate with the Maja Design papers from the FIKA collection, which is my favorite from Maja ( though I seem to say that every-time I use any of their collections). The bodice is  Tva Froknar.

In order to make the paper mold to the dress form, I misted the papers with water, then adhered to the dress form using Prima's Art Basics Soft Matte Gel , by Finnabair.
Once wet, the paper actually molds nicely.

I made the hat using a template that can be found on the Flying Unicorns site -posted by Tammy Henderson.

I added a metal Adornment from the Flying Unicorns to the bust-line.    The lace has been inked with Prima Color Blooms Tea Stain to give an aged antique appearance.

The large purple flowers are some older Prima flowers.   The metal frame came from the Sept Kit and is a metal adornment from the Flying Unicorns exclusive stock.

The hat is Maja Design Fika -Kladdkaka with the hat band being from the paper called  - En kopp.

The brown flowers are actually not quite as brown but have been enhanced a wee bit.  They are Prima Parchment flowers and I enhanced with Color Bloom Mists in Worn Leather.   The mist was perfect and created the richness I was hoping to capture.

Thanks for stopping by.
