Meet Ashley - the sweet wood mermaid doll. 

I really love mermaids and find the wood doll enchanting.  The wood dolls are really great for altered projects so I thought I'd give this 'lil mermaid a place to swim and an underwater home to enjoy.

I painted her with Prima Color Bloom Mists and a small paint brush.    I topped here with some fun Prima Art Ingredient Glitter.   You can see in the photo below how beautiful the glitter looks on her mermaid outfit - like glistening flipper scales in the sea,  

I used the new Jute trims by Prima to convey movement in the water like waves.  The jutes are fun and come in an array of colors.  I did use the jutes for a purpose however, to tie the wood form to my metal starfish frame and secure it.  The wave effect was an extra bonus. 

My seaweed cheesecloth was created by misting it with Color Blooms in Lime Wedge and Soft Teal.  I did blow it dry with my heat gun so that is stiffened up a bit.   The sweet little wooden shells come in the package for Ashley the Mermaid.  They are also covered in Art Ingredients - Glitter.

The last cool little sea weed vine is actually Prima Flowers -Providence Vines in Oregano,  I painted it with the Color Blooms to give it more definition.

I accentuated the piece with Prima's Say It In Crystals from the Seashore collection which look simply dazzling here.
