Snow Globe Shaker Card - Christmas in July

Hello crafty friends.  I'm here to present a snow globe shaker card celebrating Christmas in July using one of Maja Design's wonderful Christmas collections, Holiday in the Alps.

Outside, it's hot enough to melt a snowman in minutes, but inside my craft table is filled with frosty papers and smiling snowmen.  I love it!

Holiday in the Alps is a beautiful classic Christmas collection with a vintage look.
Here are the papers used on this snowman snow globe shaker card:

The Shaker
The chipboard snow globe shaker is from Creative Embellishments.  It's easy to assemble and comes with the acrylic window -which makes me smile because I don't have to scrounge for acrylic like I do when I make my own shakers.

The best glue to use when assembling the shakers is one with a small tip  to control the amount of glue.
My favorite glue to use on shakers is Nuvo - Deluxe Adhesive because it dries clear, has a strong bond, dries fast, and has a small nozzle.

The chipboard has been painted with white acrylic paint then topped with Stamperia's Glamour Gel in Sparkling White. It dries with a beautiful shimmering sheen.  The photos do not do this justice because I can't capture the beauty and shimmer effect.  But it's exactly what you want if you are creating a winter wonderland.

The Shaker Mix
Every shaker needs fabulous sequin shaker mix and  is filled with Buttons Galore and More's newly released Polar Wind DooDadz shaker mix.  This mix is glittery and shimmery like fresh fallen snow.  Visit Buttons Galore to see the entire DooDadz collection.

Elegant Dimensional Flower - Cards with Spellbinders

 Elegant 3D Cards (Part 2)

3D cards and pop-up cards are all the rage.  They are fun and unusual to make and even more fun to give.  I imagine the surprise and the blooming smile that spreads upon the face of the person opening the card.

Spellbinders has a new line of 3D dies to add to the fun.
Spellbinders has released the Elegant 3D collection by Becca Feeken/Amazing Paper Grace.  This collection is all about the layering and dimension.
Yesterday  I featured  two dies from Spellbinders Elegant 3D Vignettes collection by Becca Feeken.
I also made a vintage looking card with the dies.  You can see the vintage card post here.

Do you enjoy making your own flowers?   If you do, then I have a great set of dies that will help create perfect layers.  Plus, they even have a hole pre-punched in the center to keep the flowers stacked perfectly.  Worst part about flower making is punching the center holes.

These are the dies/stamps that I am using on this card:

Paper Choice and Other Supplies:

In addition, I am using Graphic 45 Secret Garden Collection 12x12  and some inks to create the vintage accenting in the flowers.

I chose to use Finger Tip Daubers to apply the ink because they tend to make the application easier when using smaller pieces that need inking.

Here is my surprise sentiment tag for the inside of the card.  This can also be a gift card holder...for that lucky recipient (haaaa).

Thank you for stopping here and thank you to Spellbinders for inviting me to be part of the Spellblogger Team.  Such a wonderful opportunity to share the best dies in the world.

Vintage Christmas Cards Made Easy

I've love to use this post to share with you the spirit of Christmas, using the gorgeous holiday/winter collection from Maja Design- "Joyous Winterdays".

Maja Design collections have one very important feature helping to make Maja Design the very best paper for your money.  Since each sheet is double sided, the back side of the papers tend to have patterns that can be used year round.  That means you get great value for your money.  That's very important since the Christmas season is short.

Scroll down and I will provide links to help shop for this paper.
Above is an image of the Maja Design- "Joyous Winterdays" collection and the specific papers I used on my card.
"Beautiful Pine"
"Pick a Tree"
"Make Decorations"

And then there is the beautiful vintage ephemera from the collection.  This gorgeous sheet of vintage images helps your card making process super easy.   You can complete some of your Christmas or winter cards done in a few minutes.

Isn't the paper simply lovely?  The vintage ephemera is perfect for super quick cards.

Escape Kitty in a Basket - Flying Unicorns and Frank Garcia - Prima

Tales of You & Me - by Prima and Frank Garcia

The April kit from Flying Unicorn was chock full of Prima this month.

Prima's newest collection by Prima and Frank Garcia, Tales of You & Me ,  is one of those collections that is a "must have"  - with soft warm colors.  I decided to show you how important photo choices are in your end result.   I created a layout with three different but similar photo options.

My photo options: Escape Kitty is chocolate sepia, my sweet little niece in rosey creams and a photo of my siblings in a bright sepia.

First:  Escape Kitty ( because she'd have it no other way)
I know that Escape Kitty certainly digs this collection - makes her look absolutely enchanting.

Escape Kitty is no different than most kitties ( shhhhhhh I'll never tell this to her sweet furry cat face).  She loves boxes and baskets and places to explore and jump into for a quick shut-eye.  She looks puuuuurfetly angelic here.

I love the darling photo.  It matches wonderfully with the collection but is it too busy?  Maybe.  I still love it.

Simply as a result of my indecision, I said adios to my kitty and brought my sweet niece in for a test.   Her lovely soft creams and blush pinks are a great match to the papers.  I also love the results.  So why stop there?

Last, I decided to toss my siblings into the ring of indecision.  I like the bright sepia photo because the layout have some bright cream accents.

And the winner is...............
The winner of my heart is Escape Kitty.  Yes, of course I love my siblings and my darling niece.  But I no longer live with my siblings and do not see my niece daily.  I do, however,  have a sassy furball cat who will stomp on my face at 4am to wake me so I try to keep on her good side and make her happy.  Just being truthful and practical.

Here's how I cut my papers and organized my layout:

It's hard to see what a gorgeous piece of paper hides behind side A of this piece of paper.  I do wish  the papers were displayed so that both sides were seen, as both are  equally gorgeous, but the internet doesn't show both sides very well.  No fear -  I will show you.

I focused on using side B.  I cut the edges and flipped on of the edges.  This created a fascinating border for me to use.  From there, I continue to build my Escape Kitty page.

Here are more close up's of the page with embellishments from Frank's Tales of You & Me collection as well as from the Flying Unicorn April collection.

This is Available in my ETSY shop ( I'll add your photo)

Here's a twist:  I have this page available in my ETSY shop and I will add YOUR photo to the page.  You can email the photo and I'll make it fit - turn it a beautiful creamy sepia if you want...and make it look spectacular ( even better then Miss Kitty's photo).   Check out this and the rest of the shop items right here.   You can see the actual ETSY item here

Mini Vintage Canvas Home Decor - Flying Unicorn and Prima

Create a piece of Vintage Home Decor with the Flying Unicorns

Mini Canvas Featuring Prima/Frank Garcia "Tales of You & Me"....and Flying Unicorns

The April Unicorn kit is now available while it lasts...which isn't usually long.  A great kit in such popular demand doesn't last long.

The Flying Unicorn kit this month included three canvases sized 3x3. The kit featured Prima's Tales of You & Me collection by Frank Garcia this month. Also included in the kit were some of Frank's sweet matching chipboard pieces for his collection.  I used the chipboard to adorn the little canvas pieces.

I used Mixd Media Inx from Clearsnap to color the edges of my canvas.  They are easy to use and I really love the pigmentation.

I accented each little canvas with elements to tie them all together  and make them a cohesive set- the lace, some pearls and similar colors.

The ribbon was stapled to the back of each little canvas in order to adhere it.  I originally added glue, however I knew that glue alone would not hold the weight of each canvas very long if hung on a wall.  The staples just reinforced it.

Here are some more close ups of the individual canvases.

Special note about my beautiful triple bow - it's perfect if I must say so.  haaaaaa!  That's because I used the Bow-It-All to make the bow.  If you can't tie good bows, then the Bow-It-All is something to think about.

Thanks for stopping by for a peek. You can shop the Flying Unicorns and grab the kit right here.
