St. Patrick's Day Shaker Cards Part Two

St Patrick's Day Shaker Cards Part 2

Hello Friends.  You can see PART 1 here.

Today is Part 2 of my celebration of all things luck and Irish - meaning shaker cards with a St. Patrick's Day theme.    You can see Part 1 here. Shaking even more than yesterday!

Let's shake some luck into the month of March with St. Patrick's Day shaker cards. I don't think I know anyone who would pass on a little luck.  Today I'll be showcasing chipboard shakers from Creative Embellishments and shaker mix from Buttons Galore

Creative Embellishments has a giant assortment of chipboard shaker sets covering a wide range of holidays, occasions, whimsy and classic shapes.  You can find all of Creative Embellishments shakers right here.

Today's featured chipboard shaker sets are less traditional but great examples of how to integrate non-traditional designs into the holiday spirit.  This is the Creative Embellishments Snow Globe shaker set and Creative Embellishments Jar shaker set.

The treatments on the chipboard are quite simple.  Both shaker sets have been painted with cream acrylic paint - and gold embossing added to the top layer of the snow globe.  The Jar was left natural with no treatment.Creative Embellishments Jar shaker set

The Shamrock Border was cut apart and added to the inside of the jar shaker.

Every shaker needs fabulous shaker mix. It's St. Patrick's Day so I am going for some mix that has a bit 'ol Irish magic or at least luck.  The cards today use  Buttons Galore - Sprinkletz - Erin Go Bragh , a combination of unique festive polymer clay pieces.

Both cards are finished with Buttons Galore's  Glitter Shamrock Buttons. These buttons have shanks. Depending on the project, I'll cut the shank off if I need the embellishment to be flat against the card/project.   Most of the time, however, I leave the shank attached and thread wire through it.  I'll use the wire as a "stem" and glue the stem to the card.

My paper choice today is Photo Play Paper - Tulla and Norbert's Lucky Charm Collection - 12 x 12 Collection Pack.  It's as cute as can be with the sweetest touch of all things lucky including Tulla and Norbert.

Snow Globe Shaker Card - Christmas in July

Hello crafty friends.  I'm here to present a snow globe shaker card celebrating Christmas in July using one of Maja Design's wonderful Christmas collections, Holiday in the Alps.

Outside, it's hot enough to melt a snowman in minutes, but inside my craft table is filled with frosty papers and smiling snowmen.  I love it!

Holiday in the Alps is a beautiful classic Christmas collection with a vintage look.
Here are the papers used on this snowman snow globe shaker card:

The Shaker
The chipboard snow globe shaker is from Creative Embellishments.  It's easy to assemble and comes with the acrylic window -which makes me smile because I don't have to scrounge for acrylic like I do when I make my own shakers.

The best glue to use when assembling the shakers is one with a small tip  to control the amount of glue.
My favorite glue to use on shakers is Nuvo - Deluxe Adhesive because it dries clear, has a strong bond, dries fast, and has a small nozzle.

The chipboard has been painted with white acrylic paint then topped with Stamperia's Glamour Gel in Sparkling White. It dries with a beautiful shimmering sheen.  The photos do not do this justice because I can't capture the beauty and shimmer effect.  But it's exactly what you want if you are creating a winter wonderland.

The Shaker Mix
Every shaker needs fabulous sequin shaker mix and  is filled with Buttons Galore and More's newly released Polar Wind DooDadz shaker mix.  This mix is glittery and shimmery like fresh fallen snow.  Visit Buttons Galore to see the entire DooDadz collection.

DIY Cheery Shaker Christmas Ornament - Buttons Galore

Create a Custom Shaker Ornament

Does it seem like your Christmas shopping list gets longer every year while your budget gets smaller? Don't stress because you have some quick, unique and inexpensive options this year.

Create a custom shaker ornament for the folks on your list. They are fun to make, super easy and will bedazzle everyone.

There's not a lot to this ornament yet it looks like it took a lot of effort and work; a clear acrylic ornament, shaker material, ribbon and decorative embellishments.

The shaker mix is the key to the project.

You need to make the difficult decision...what color shaker mix from Buttons Galore to use and which adorable 3D Buttons to pick for embellishments.    The shaker mix will help determine the color ribbons to be used and any other embellishments you add to the ornament.

This is what I selected for my cheery and festive ornament.  The options, color choices and themes are limitless.

These are the other products used:

You'll need a Plastic Fillable Christmas Ornaments. These are very cool because they are large enough to add a small trinket if preferred, plus your beautiful shaker material.

Below is an image of the fillable ornament used.  Once I filled the ornament with shaker mix, I sealed closed with durable glue.  Beacons 3-in-1 glue is typically what I use on every project I create because it dries clear and works well with fabric, ribbon, wood, metal, paper, clay and many other products.

There's nothing worse than having your beautiful ornament open and become confetti all over your floor.

Why the Wire?
I take an extra measure of security- by wiring the top together.  I also use the wire to secure all decorations and embellishments to the ornament.  The gold wire is simple to use and is pretty so I don't really worry if some of the wire shows.

The wire will get wrapped around the top of the ornament to secure your embellishments including the ribbons and even the decorative button.

Here's a close up of the top of the ornament and embellishments.
