Prima Card with Specialty Flowers

Prima Specialty Flowers

The new release of flowers from Prima will know your socks off.  The brilliant burst of colors, sizes and variety offered this season is remarkable.   The flower I am showcasing is the Fairfield Collection - with this color being "Sugar".   You can find all the newest releases here on the Prima Blog.

I made a quick card to feature the flower using the Epiphany Collection and Prima dies.   I also misted the butterfly stick pin with Color Bloom mist is Tea Stain and dried it with a heat gun so the butterfly has a golden sheen to match the card.

The new flowers shall be blooming soon to all your favorite scrapbook stores.

Prima Coffee Break Collection - Altered Coffee Pot

Prima's New Coffee Break Collection
(You can find the original post here at Prima)

This collection is fun, fresh and so very relevant to so many coffee drinking, caffeine thriving people.  It's beautiful yet playful as well, so I made a fun piece with an old water pitcher that I had...we'll pretend it's a coffee pot.

Below is the entire collection.

So this is...

I created this by ripping pieces of patterned paper and misting it with water to get wet.  Then adhering to the metal water pitcher using gel medium. If you are not familiar with gel medium, it acts like a wonderful glue type product - think ModPodge only so much better.  I dip my fingers in the gel medium, spread on the metal surface, then lay my payer of paper down and  top with more gel medium.

I added some bright and coordinating tissue paper inside the pitcher so that I did not have to cover the entire inside of the pitcher.

The flowers  are new this season from Prima and are vines!  yes, mini vines are back!  and the heavens parted and the angels sang...ahhhhhh vines. These are gorgeous.  The new collection is called Winthrop -Tourmaline and are delicate and soft pink.

I used the Prima leaf die to cut some leaves for my cluster.  I misted them with Prima's Color Bloom Lime Wedge and dried with a heat gun.  The process of wetting and heat drying seems to make the paper stiffer and more durable for dimensional projects.   Tuck here, tuck there - done.

Some finishing touches were made using  Prima's new Weave trim is Buff wrapped around the bottom and Prima's new lace trim in "Cloud" color wrapped in the center of the pitcher.

The stenciling is some using Finnabair's new Heavy White Gesso from the Art Basic line over the new Prima stencil .575922.

In stores soon!  Thanks for stopping here.

Prima new Releases: Cigar Box Secrets Rooster

Prima's new Cigar Box Secrets Collection

You can see the entire collection here, at Prima but below is a sample of the papers in this collection.

The colors in the Cigar Box Secrets collection are so rich, wonderful, and vintage perfection.  The papers remind me of old world nobility - and in my wild imagination, roosters do as well. I thought a rooster could wear these colors and patterns with flair, pizazz and style.

Prima also introduced some great new fibers and threads that make great accent pieces for feathers on my Rooster.

My rooster is created using a metal rooster form that I found in a clearance bin at a craft store. Boy do I love clearance bins. I guess the most difficult part was determining what patterns were going to be used  since this collection is just overflowing with gorgeous colorful prints.

Look for this collection to ship soon! Thanks for stopping here.

Flying Unicorns Small Art Big Passion - Kit of the Month

Flying Unicorns presents Small Art Big Passion

http://www.flyingunicornstore.com/category_s/1356.htm
Our Small Art, Big Passion addon kit can stand alone or mix it in with the main kit. Perfect for card makers, altered projects, tags, atc's and so much more!

The Small Art Big Passion kit is absolutely ideal for folks who have limited time in a month to create projects, yet still want to dabble with a few cards and smaller things; Folks who are new to idea of a kit with coordinating products; folks who have a tight budget yet still want to newest trendiest products on the market; and people who just enjoy making cards and tags, ATC's and other smaller items.

This sweet little kit this month features Atuhentique's Pretty collection - a wonderful range  of pinks mixed with the contrast patterns with black.

The kit also had some great Prima resin frames.  I wanted to roll my own flowers  - which is an excellent way to embellish your cards and projects if you are short on  coordinating embellishments or want  something to match perfectly.    I cut a small  circle from my cardstock.  The I cut a spiral inside the circle - from outside all the way to the inside.  I use a quilling tool to then curl the paper tighly into a rose bud.
