Christmas Mouse  - Spellbinders Card Kit for October 

This is the time of the year when things seem to speed up - time escapes and flies by in a wink.  Before you realize, it's time to send out Christmas and holiday cards.  Spellbinders wants to help make your card preparation a special magical time, not hurried paper frenzy.

Spellbinders Card Club of the Month for October will help you get ready.  Here is an image of the entire Card Kit this month complete with everything you need to start creating your very own DIY cards for a variety of occasions. Including adhesives.

This card features the most adorable mouse in a stocking.  

It's too cute for words and comes from the layered stickers in the kit.  These are also available for individual sale as part of the Extras.  Scroll down the page to see more about the Extras. 

The "Extras" are embellishments and elements from the kit that can be purchased individually from Spellbinders. Here's a link to this month's Extras from the Spellbinders Store.  Each month the selection of extras changes.

Autumn Leaf and Pumpkin Shaker Cards -Spellbinders Large and Small Die of the Month

Welcome Autumn - Shaker Cards for the Season

The start of a new month always means new challenges.  This month we also entered a new season and in NY, where I live, Autumn brings a rich array of colors; warm reds, purples, golden yellows, and so much more.  

The cards today combined numerous products and a few challenges rolled together into one post. It just happened that the products were harmonious, so why not, right? I'm using some shakers and stencils from Creative Embellishments, shaker mix from Buttons Galore and More, gorgeous papers from Maja Design in Sweden, and the sweetest dies from Spellbinders Monthly Die Club for October (the Large Die of the Month and  Spellbinders Small Die of the Month).

The Challenges: 

Two challenges this month seemed to have the same theme and color palette so they were blended. Creative Embellishments monthly challenge has a twist to use lace.  Maja Design's Mood Board focuses on the colors and the warmth of Autumn.

  The Shakers

Below are images of the shakers I used today: the  Creative Embellishments - Leaf Shaker  and  Pumpkin Shaker are new designs and simply fabulous for Autumn.

Each were painted with inexpensive vanilla colored acrylic paint (not white and not cream, but the perfect blend of both), then inked with purples and brown distress ink. 

The finishing touch was to add some texture to the shaker with Creative Embellishments "Rope" stencil and heavy molding paste.

The stenciling did need to air dry before moving on the add the shaker mix.   

The little pumpkins and green leaves are Spellbinders Large Die of the Month  for October.  The lady with the home baked pie is Spellbinders Small Die of the Month for October. 

Each month, the die clubs have completely enchanted me and October's is perfect for the season.

Let's Talk Shaker Mix

The shaker mix I selected is from Buttons Galore/28 Lilac Lane and is a festive and cheery combination of sequins, bead and buttons.  The image below shows the new Shimmerz shaker mix - in Desert Sky

Here is the second card made using Creative Embellishments - Leaf Shaker , shaker mix from Buttons Galore and More, and gorgeous "Enjoying Outdoors" paper collection from Maja Design in Sweden.

If you live in an area or have traveled to an area that has a distinct Autumn, you have probably experienced the golden tones shown in the Mood Board from Maja Design. 

 For me, the challenge image feels like warm Autumn day as the sun is setting - what's called the "golden hour".  In photography, the golden hour is the period of daytime shortly after sunrise or before sunset, during which daylight is redder and softer than when the Sun is higher in the sky.  

I chose the beautiful "Enjoying Outdoors" collection from Maja Design as  my backdrop for an autumn shaker card.

I adore the polar bear image. 

This card uses some of the red striped vellum paper from the box placed over gold foil cardstock (also included).  It's festive and gives the vellum a glowing warm look. 

This card shows the adorable die set. My family had a VW Bug when I was growing up so this is an image that holds dear to my heart.
