Gift Tags - Spellbinders Clear Stamp of the Month

Gift Tags Created Using Spellbinders Clear Stamp of the Month

Stamps have more purposes that just cards.
I needed some quick gift tags so I pulled out the Spellbinders Clear Stamp of the Month Club  for August, put on my crafty thinking cap, and got to work.

Here is an image of the Spellbinders Clear Stamp of the Month Club for the month of August.
Here's the final results.

I stamped the images on watercolor paper and colored the stamping  using Spellbinders Mermaid Markers ArtEssentials by Jane Davenport.  These are water color brushes, richly pigmented.  I'm having a lot of fun using these.

The actual chipboard tag is from  Creative Embellishments Chipboard ATC Tags (Gift Tags) .

Teddy Bear Tags - Shakers

Hello.  Jennifer Snyder here sharing a large shaker tag made for my granddaughter to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.  She's 9 months old and this is her first St. Patrick's Day - which happens to be a big deal in my household because my husband is in a band that features Irish music for the local pubs in New York, where we live.

This is my interpretation of "baby Irish" - using Maja Design's classic Fika collection, still my favorite collection for it's rich chocolate browns, , creams, greens and purples.  Just thinking about it makes me feel like a chocolaty treat.

Here are the images and papers I used from the collection: Chokadmuffins, Favoriter, Apple, Kärleksmums

Now then, don't those beautiful paper images don't make you hungry? Yum.

Here is a close up of the beautiful papers and the chipboard teddy bear shaker from Creative Embellishments.  It's filled with shaker mix from Buttons Galore, to help make the shaker "come to life".  The shaker mix adds that "bit'o lucky charm", as my husband would say.

Mermaid and Sea Turtle Seascape Tag

I'm here today to give you my version of a sea escape a la Creative Embellishments.

The ocean is filled with wonder, beauty and a bit of  mermaid magic.
I made a giant tag expressing my love of the ocean and it's creatures.
The tag features some really amazing elements from Creative Embellishments.

Large Tags are so cool and trendy.
The large tags from Creative Embellishments offer a perfect blank "canvas" for these darling chipboard pieces and for your fabulous imagination.   They offer  5in x 10in of work space...that's quite a bit!
Plus they come in packs of 3!  Yep - what a value!

The sea turtle and mermaid chipboard pieces have gorgeous intricate details burned into the pieces that I wanted to highlight.  In order to work with the chipboard details and not cover up the fine details, I decided to dab on liquid pearls to color the pieces different colors.  I felt I was not skilled enough with acrylic paint to stay inside the tiny lines so I needed a different option to treat the chipboard.

Ranger Liquid Pearls come in an assortment of vibrant colors that do not bleed and run when applied to the chipboard.  For me, these worked perfectly within the fine details of the chipboard pieces.

As a finishing touch once the liquid pearls were dry, I dabbed some Ranger Crackle Accents - Crackle Medium   here and there over the top of the liquid pearls to provide the illusion of movement, especially in the seaweed and mermaid hair.

These are the colors I used:

As the Crackle Accents dried, I sprinkled gold micro beads on the chipboard (fine glitter would be nice as well).

You can see how cool the Crackle Accents looks on the turtle shell and the mermaid tail in the next two shots below.  The secret to using Crackle Accents is to let the medium dry thoroughly - without using the heat gun.  For me, patience may be the biggest challenge when completing any project.
Patience you say?????   Oh the horror of it!

I added stenciling to the background of the tag using Prima's Bubbles Stencil by Finnabair
and Prima's Art Basics - Heavy White Gesso.    This stencil is probably on of my favorites.  It's just fun. and it makes great bubbles in the ocean.
Happy Crafting and thanks for visiting.

Quick Tags for Gifts - DIY in Minutes

http://www.flyingunicornstore.com

Our Small Art Big Passion is all about the love of making cards, tags atc's and anything in between. From Stamps, flowers, paper, embellishments and pretty things in between! These yummy goodies will enhance any of the kits or stand alone .

This month's kit features Sherry Baldy's "My Besties" 6x6 paper pad called "Pink Pink Pink".   As you can see, one of the sheets has her signature "My Besties " darlings on it - so that's the image I decided to highlight.  It's very sweet.  ( You can find more "My Besties " paper by Sherry Baldy right here in the Unicorn shop.)

The Small Art Big Passion kit also included a fascinating chipboard plaque that's sized 6inx7in - a pretty decent size  to hang in a bedroom wall, in a nook, on a door - pop a name on it and you've got a great door plaque.

This month our kit includes : 6x6 Sherri Baldy paper pad, 2 watercolor tags, laser Cut plaque, Petitie Alphas, 5 Brads, Resin Clocks x 4, 1 yard Seam Binding, Prima Chalk Ink, Laser cut keys, Butterfly metal die Burlap flowers by Petaloo.

This is the first tag I made.  They are simple mini gift tags meant to be tied to boxed and gift bags.  Totally not time intensive , week long projects.   You can write little notes on the back.  Just perfect.

I used the chipboard plaque piece that came in the Small Arts Big Passion Kit as my template for the tags.

Ink the edges of everything.

Ink the ribbon that came in the kit.  I want a nice soft vintage feel to the seam binding.  Just use the ink that is already on your pad.  No need to dip and re-ink.  You may over ink the ribbon if you dip again.

I added some Liquid Pearls to the roses on the patterned papers.   True enough that delicate Petal Pink Liquid Pearls will not show up on an internet photo, but it makes a difference when I am holding the tag.  It's there and it's a nice finishing touch.

Tag two is equally simple.  Nothing much to them, but then again does everything need to be difficult, time consuming and  involve intensive technique?  Nope, sometimes you simply need to get the tag done, placed on the gift, get yourself dressed and make it to the party on TIME for once instead of fiddling with details.  OK - I'm clearly talking about myself and not you.

Top with a sweet little gemstone brad and some mini alpha stickers.    Doesn't get much easier.

Thanks for stopping.  You can find more "My Besties" papers right here in the Unicorn Shop.

Tags, Cards, and Small Projects

Flying Unicorns....Small Art Big Passion?  Absolutely

I'm here today to show off my favorite kit each month.  It's the Small Art Big Passion kit - a smaller version of the main kit.   Each month, the Flying Unicorns gives you something that no other kit club provides.
 Alternatives.

Let's be frank.  There are months when you know you wont be able to scrap or play with your pretty flowers and papers.  There are months when the colors of the kit are not speaking to your heart.  There are months when the household budget is extra tight ( if not always).  There are months when you know you won't have any time to enjoy.

BUT you still WANT new products.

Ok - that's where the Small Art Big Passion kit it always perfect.  It's a tiny affordable version of a kit, but scaled down in price. Comes with papers and perfectly coordinated embellishments for smaller projects, cards, tags, and such like that.

This is a quick project I made.  The mini tags are a little example of what I made using the Small Art Big Passion kit for September. These are sweet tags for gifts.  The base of the tag is the darling Bo Bunny Chipboard that comes in the September Small Art Big Passion kit combined with some beautiful Petalooo flowers ( also in the kit).    There is not much to these tags and yet they are so delicate and elegant.

What was included in Sept Small Art Big Passion kit?
This kit adds extra dimension to all the other kits and is perfect for the card makers, tag makers and so much more. This month our kit includes : Nature's Garden by Papermania for Docraft —16 sheets, 2 sheets of decoupage cut outs, Nature’s Garden Label Stickers, Petaloo Mixed Blossoms Peach1836-051, Nature’s Garden Fabric Covered Buttons, Bo Bunny Laser cut tags, 2 yards of string twine , flying unicorn adornments.

Scroll down and have a peek at each of my tags.

I added a small piece of cardstock to the back of my tags to turn them into gift cards.  Tie them to a gift bag, present or bottle of your favorite beverage.  You can add your personal sentiment to the tag.  Perfect and super quick.

There is really not a lot to each of the tags and yet they each are lovely.

Easy enough, right?  Grab your Small Art Big Passion kit here

Never Miss a Kit Again!
Of course there are never any subscriptions and obligations at Flying Unicorns.  Sadly, this does mean they sell out fast.  Who wants to be strapped with monthly kit obligations only to find the kit doesn't suit them on a particular month?  Flying Unicorns will never do that to you.

If you are not fortunate enough to have grabbed the kit. then consider pre-ordering.  Pre-orders are available starting the 20th of each month.  Flying Unicorns provides a sneak peek at the upcoming offerings and you decide what you want.  They even get shipped right out to you.
