Touchdown! Father's Day Card

Hello crafty friends.  I'm here with my first post for Authentique.  What a truly amazing and exciting opportunity.  Thank you.  

 Next, I'm celebrating fathers, grandfathers,step-fathers and those with a fatherly role.  Thank you for being our role models, helpers, "go-to" guys, and our biggest fans. You mean the world to us.  Authentique thinks so as well because they have introduced some wonderful collections perfect for Father's Day and all year round!  

Today I am showcasing  Authentique's All-Star Collection, Football paper pack  by sharing an interactive slider card with surprise pop-up on the inside.  When I create a card, I image the smile on the face of the person opening the card.  This is why I enjoy creating cards that often have an element of surprise.

Here are the slider card instructions: 

Step 1.  Prep Card Base and cut pieces.	Step 2.  Fold, add foam, cut notch.
Step 3. Set notch in place as slider guide.	Step 4. Flip over and add adhesive
Step 5. Add foam tape to create top  slider guide.	Step 6.  Secure top slider guide in place.

The image below is a side look showing the dimension of the pop-up element inside the card. What fun is it to have a bunch of football players pop out of the card!  

I added dimension on this card using foam, along with a fun pull-tab to make the football player glide effortlessly down the football field (a slick move every football fan wishes his favorite player could mimic). 

The finishing touch on the card was created by bedazzling with gold sequins and sequin stars.

Welcome to Spellbinders Card Club of the Month for May.  

Yes, it's May.  The start of the month always feels fresh and wonderful.

Spellbinders makes sure the card club box is versatile enough for both men and women, for a variety of occasions.  This month the club has some fabulous overtones for men and more masculine cards - to balance last months "shout out to the ladies".  Awe guys, we'd never forget ya!

Here are the close ups of the cards created using just the "Extras" from the box.  These are products from the actual monthly box that can be purchased separately if you run out and want more, or can be simply purchased if you didn't get the club box. 

Here's my vision for this card: 

Imagine you're at a backyard patio party one perfect evening...
Wonderful twinkle party lights hang all around the patio creating a romantic bokeh effect. 
Wisteria delicately hangs from a branch bobbing ever so gently with the comfortable evening breeze.  

This card is a close-up snapshot of THAT very vision in my head.  

Of course my husband's voice crashes through my romantic daydream vision and says, "it sort of looks like a Christmas Card, honey". So I leave it up to your imagination. 

Here is the second card - keeping life simple as well as the card.  A classic, elegant card for any occasion.

Cards - Feminine and Masculine using the same Collection

I received the Trimcraft Curiosity Corner Collection.  It's a beautiful collection filled with vintage appeal and soothing neutrals, a little on the rustic side and definitely perfect for a masculine project.  The collection also has wonderful  coordinating embellishments that I also snagged up.  But once you add up the cost of the paper and matching "must have" embellishments, you've now spent more than a few coins.  

You need to figure out a way to get the most out of the collections and make it as versatile as possible.   That's exactly what I did here.  I made a masculine card and a feminine counterpart.  I let the embellishments help me out. 

Masculine Card

Step 1

To start - fold your own base card or use a pre-folded 5x7 blank card.  You'll need to trim 1/4 inch off the bottom of the card.   

Choose a piece of the Trimcraft Dovecraft Curiosity Corner , cut and ink the edges. 

Glue to card.

Step 2

Cut a frame from Curiosity Corner 6x6 paper pack, ink edges.  Set aside to add decorative borders. 

Step 3

Cut 2 strips and give them decorative edges. I used a decorative edge punch. You can also use decorative scissors, dies or leave them straight.

Ink the edges and add to the frame from step 2.

Glue to card.

Step 4

Select a sentiment from Curiosity Corner stamp set. Stamp onto card stock.

Pick a wood frame from Dovecraft Curiosity Corner - Wood Elements ( Frames) and add the stamped sentiment.

Glue to center of paper frame with border.

Step 5

Take approximately 18 inches of hemp twine and wrap around the paper frame layer. Tie .

Add a fun Dovecraft Curiosity Corner - Fabric Brad and secure the twine to the card with brad. You may want to add some glue too. You can cut off the metal pieces in back of the brad and just use glue to card as well.

Glue border layer to card.

Feminine Card

Step 1

To start - fold your own base card or use a pre-folded 5x7 blank card. You'll need to trim 1/4 inch off the bottom of the card.

Choose two pieces of the Trimcraft Dovecraft Curiosity Corner for layers , cut and ink the edges.  

Glue to card.

Step 2​

Grab a doily from Trimcraft  Dovecraft Curiosity Corner -Paper Doilies.  You get 40 in a pack!

Ink the doily until you are happy with the rich tone.  

Glue to center of the card. 

Step 3

Embellishment time. Cut leaves from your favorite die ( you can punch them or cut from paper as well). Ink the leaves a bit for accent.

Select a frame and flip it over. The back of the wood frame is just gorgeous. I love it and am using the back.

Step 4

Choose a sentiment from Curiosity Corner stamp set. Stamp onto card stock.

Glue wood frame to the sentiment and glue to doily.

Step 5

Drape the leaves over the frame and glue in place.

Pick some gorgeous flowers and glue down.

Top the card with a small lace bow tied from Dovecraft Curiosity Corner -Lace Ribbon pack.
