Easy Festive Christmas Tree Card -Spellbinders  Large Die of the Month

Spellbinders Large Die of the Month for December is filled with options and possibilities -  die borders to be used year round.  I'm providing just one of those options by creating a simple yet decorative Christmas Tree.  

Below is an image of the Spellbinders Large Die set for December. The different shades of blue mean the dies are layered - so there are multiple options with the layering.  

The dies were designed with layering in mind. I think the layering has a beautiful elegant effect.  

The card was embellished with chipboard berries and Santa's sleigh from Creative Embellishments.  The berries and sleigh were painted with acrylic paint and topped with Glossy Accents and Crackle Accents.  Crackle Accents provide a cool effect but there is a certain level of patience one needs to let the medium air dry.

Floral Shaker Cards Straight From The Garden

I'm sharing shaker cards created for the August challenge at Creative Embellishments. These cards are blooming with the colors of a beautiful garden in August. 

Below is the image for the challenge.  Let the image inspire you to create any project you want but you must use a product from Creative Embellishments.  

 First Card  

I used some newly released designs to create my floral shaker.  Here are the chipboard pieces used on this card: 

********************************************************************************* Creative Embellishments -Circle Shaker - Chipboard Shaker Set     Creative Embellishments - Berries Creative Embellishments - Leaves Set 1 ********************************************************************************* I painted the chipboard with various layers of acrylic paint - starting with white/light ivory.  I prefer the white/ivory as a base coat when I want the final chipboard project to be lighter or pastel.   The stippled effect on the chipboard pieces was caused by  dabbing paint with a dry sea sponge.   The magic of a shaker card happens when the shaker mix is added.  With that in mind, I picked my Creative Embellishments chipboard and shaker mix from  28 Lilac Lane / Buttons Galore and More.  28 Lilac Lane WISTERIA HUES Sequin Mix PS600 My paper choice for this card is from Stamperia - Lilac Flowers.  It's a dreamy 12x12 floral collection with all the beautiful purple flowers and butterflies straight from the storybook garden.  Stamperia - Scrapbooking 12 x 12 Collection Pack - Lilac Flowers Second Card   I used some newly released designed to create the second floral shaker inspired by the August Challenge at Creative Embellishments.   I used 28 Lilac Lane's WISTERIA HUES Sequin Mix on this card as well.  It's just a gorgeous mix of greens and purples with the prefect touch of  rose pink.    Here are the chipboard and paper used on this second card. Wedding Joy Layout with Bows and Love

I'm here today with a Valentine's layout filled with lots of love, pretty bows and banners to celebrate the big day. 

Of course these wonderful embellishments start with Creative Embellishments chipboard pieces.  

My Creative Embellishments chipboard selection on this layout includes:

I'm also using the gorgeous I must share the paper collection I used.  New from Sweden, it's the Celebration collection from Maja Design.  This layout uses the following sheets shown below:

This collection was created to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Maja Design.  Gorgeous  collection with a versatile range of colors.  

I love to make chipboard look soft and wispy.  My technique is quite easy.  Paint everything with cheap creamy white paint - like a french vanilla color.  I do not bother with gesso.  It's too white for my needs and doesn't have enough coverage.  I go straight for the cheap acrylic paint.

Once the paint has dried completely, I went back in and added some pink/red ink for accents using a paint brush ( or waterbrush)  for softness.  The water brush eliminates any harsh lines on the chipboard.  Last step is to add some brown ink here and there as light shading.  

Additional finishing details may be Crackle Accents by Ranger, pearls or Stickles Glitter Glue for pops of glitz.  I'll tell ya, the Stickles really doesn't show well in photos but it has such a bedazzling look in person.

 Not sure how to type this without sounding odd, but I adore the "Adore Banner"  using the  Family Banners chipboard.  Such a sweet and romantic touch.  That was topped with the crackle accents as well.
