Shaking Hallowen up this year -  with Julie Nutting

Today I want to share my sweet shaker card created using a few new seasonal products.  The card features Prima and Julie Nutting's new doll die/stamp combo, Photoplay Paper's Bootiful collection and a frame die from JustRite Papercrafts.   

The new Prima/ Julie Nutting doll and die combo it the best!!!  No fussy cutting and no sore hands.  You just run the die through your cutting machine and the hard work is done.  I love it!  Plus the die has embellishments too- that you can cut. 

If you have not grabbed the PhotoPlay Bootiful paper yet, you are gonna cry big 'ol crocodile tears if you miss it.  This is festive, fun and bright and once it's gone, it's gone.

Prima - Same Canvas - Different Directions ( also featuring Julie Nutting New Release )

Two Canvases using the same technique with Prima Color Bloom mists - with different results:

I decided to create some 8x8 canvases using  the same background technique , just with different focal points.  One being the new Chiara doll stamp from Prima and Julie Nutting, and one with an image of my dad.  

The base of the canvas was created using my favorite Prima Color Bloom mists in Tea Stain and Cotton Candy. They are soft and light and are a wonderful color combination.

 First  Project- Prima and Julie Nutting Doll Stamps!

I am so excited to see the new releases of Prima's Doll Stamps designed by Julie Nutting.  These little darlin's are winning hearts all around the world and creating a new generation of paper doll artists.  I know I am hooked for sure.  The themes are endless.  This is Chiara and she is adorable and charming.  

I also love the illusion of curly hair that Chiara has.  I simply accentuated it by drawing little circles with my pen,

This is an 8x8 canvas made with Prima's wonderful Color Blooms.

The next project, a mini photo of my dad was substituted in the canvas as the focal point.

I have created two tags because I could not decide which tag I liked better - and I had a great time creating them.  I 've got city sweet and country cute

This tag was created using the wonderful new collection by FabSraps - Gentleman's Club.  I really loved the image of the horse on the Thoroughbred paper piece.  It was perfect for Becky!

My tip:   I love to give the dresses a little extra ruffle and fullness by stamping a few times and tucking layers under the top skirt.  I also add a little popdot or dimensional tape for extra dimension.

Every Day Beautiful Tag

The base of this tag is Julie Nutting's Tag pad.  The I added some Prima dies (which is part of the grand prize by the way)

The doll is wearing Kasisercraft  Kaleidoscope.  You can see how gorgeous the dies really are.

1.     Background  Tag Preparation:

2.     Start with  FabScraps Gentleman’s Club Collection – Gentleman’s Club paper C66004 and cut strip approx  3.5in x9in to form base of tag.

3.     Cut small piece of  FabScraps Gentleman’s Club – Airships paper C66003  to use as bottom decorative edge.   Punch with decorative edge punch and attach to tag.

4.     Cover tag with lace.  You may need to use two pieces to overlap – that’s just fine. Glue in place.

5.     Cut large horse graphic from FabScraps Gentleman’s Collection Thoroughbred C66007.  Glue a small piece of cardboard or dimensional tape to the horse head so that just the head has a little dimension. 

6.     Glue horse to tag – his head will stick off the tag.  This is also good.

7.     Add lace and trim to the bottom of the tag as desired.

8.      Doll Stamp Preparation:

9.      Select cardstock for doll body and stamp the entire doll figure. Using dark ink – preferably black.

10.   Cut out stamped image to use as a base. Her clothing gets glued to this base.

11.   I create the doll using a series of stamps and cut out each piece.  The hair will be stamped onto either colored cardstock or colored with ink, paint or markers.

12.   Stamp  skirt and shirt and cut from pink cardstock.  Stamp and cut three pieces of skirt to layer . 

13.   Glue two pieces of the skirt side by side on the doll stamp.  This makes a fuller skirt.  Then add the last skirt piece on top with a piece of dimension tape or cardboard underneath.

14.   Boots and hat are stamped using FabScraps Gentleman’s Club paper C66004 and Horsing Around paper C66008 – accent with pink gem stones and pink cardstock.

15.   Vest is made from FabScraps  Gentleman’s Club Collection – Airships C66003.   Accent with trim and gems.

16.   Wind up approx 18in jute to use as a lasso leaving a little to wrap around doll as if she is holding it. . 

17.   Glue both lasso and doll tag in place.

18.   Embellishing and Finishing Touches:

19.   Using FabScraps Gentleman’s Club –Gentleman’s Picture ST66002 , take the horse circle sticker and back with cardstock.  This gives the sticker some richer color.  Glue to bottom of tag.

20.   Decorate with flowers, lace trim and brads as desired.

21.   You can also attach some folded cardstock on the back as a card.

Prima - Julie Nutting's New Doll Stamp , Prima Doily Die, Color Bloom, Seashore Collection

I am  featuring a few new Prima products today and theses products feed into my obsession for the perfect day at the sea shore.  Prima has a new paper collection called Seashore, a new Julie Nutting Doll Stamp, and some sweet intricate metal doily dies that enable you to create a delicate look to any project.

I just happened to use the Prima dies to create some lovely sea weed and the Prima Color Bloom Mist  to provide the backdrop for my perfect day.

This month, I created a canvas - lightly misted here and there with Summer Sky blue Color Bloom Mist for a watery flowing effect.  My misting technique?   Easy - set the canvas in it's side, spray the Color Boom, then immediately spray some water over it.  I also dabbed dry in places to thin out the mist effect.

I did dab my paint brush into the mist and paint onto the canvas in places where I wanted to enrich the blue color.

To create the sand -  I dipped a paintbrush into water and Prima Ingvild Bolme Chalk Edgers -Dark Bark and painted right onto the canvas as a water color.

After that, I just layer my background using the Prima Seashore collection.
