Flying Unicorns August Kit of the Month - Shadow Box

I made this shadow box from a combination of the Flying Unicorns Main kit from August as well and the Mixed Passion Add-on.  

Flowers, resin, pearl-ex oh my! Our Mixed Passion is a collection of everything pretty to add to the Main kit or the add on kits. The colors and embellishments will enhance your August Kit of the month creations or it can stand alone and you can create something Magnificent . So turn the music up order that pizza for the family and lock your self away while you create some pure yumminess!

This add -on is like a little project kit all it's own.   So that's what I did with it.  I used the cool wooden packaging box from the Prima resins. I decided the easiest thing was to leave it unpainted and just embellish. 

This gorgeous metal medallion is from the Flying Unicorns Adornments.  Alda has a giant assortment of metal adornments that can be used in so many ways. . 

This photo below features more metal adornments, the  Prima Metal  Die 572792 with inked edges and topped with Studio Calico Wood Veneer butterflies and leaves and a Prima Flower.  I sprayed the flower with Prima Color Bloom Mists in Gold Foil so as to blend a little better.

Get your Creative On! Flying Unicorn is pleased to share with you our August Your Passion, Your Art Kit of the Month. 

Our main kit is never complete without an off the page project to get you motivated. This month we have a steel glass cased lantern manufactured by Darice that is already fro you to alter. Let your imagination soar and check out some of the amazing inspiration from the Creative Team.

The Off the Page Project this month is cool little lantern.   I decided to turn mine into a vintage feeling Christmas decoration using laces and trims and lots of gold and trims.

I also opted not to paint the lantern since it comes is a pretty rich colored aged metal. If I don't have to paint and prime - all the better.  Perhaps that is really what the driving force was behind my color choices and theme.   No matter.

I used a few different selections of ribbons and trims at the top - some wired ribbon, some lace, some organza and some random green scrap of  trim I had sitting one my scrap table.  It's green? OK then it goes on before I end up tossing it out by mistake.

The inside of the lantern is a wee tad bid hazy because there is a layer of glass on the lantern.  I filled the lantern with lace instead of painting  the inside.  The white lace is supposed to resemble snow - but my version of vintage snow.

Flying Unicorns - Presents the Mixed Art Kit for August

From the beginner to the avid mixed media artist our Mixed Art add on kit will surely please you. Our Mixed Art kit will always come with a canvas and this month we have included a 12 x12 rectangle one ready for you to get your mojo going. With a splash of color blooms mists from Priam Marketing, a little more glimmer in the pearlex and lots of Flying Unicorn Adornments and Prima roses, its time to get your hands a little messy and create some art!

The canvas that was included this month was a unique triangle canvas.  When I saw it, I was reminded of the flag that was given to my husband's family at his dads graveside.   That's how I decided to interpret and proceed.

In order to further enhance the patriotic flag theme, I chose the Pride collection by Authentique.   It's just perfect for such a project.

I also used a mini flag in my cluster, topped by some metal flower medallions from the Flying Unicorn store.  

In fact, when I decided to make this a patriotic piece, I flipped the canvas around and used the backside for added dimension.

Bloom Girl Craze is here!

Prima and Jamie Dougherty bring us a new set of lovelies with the new releases of the Bloom Girls.

I love the new Bloom Girl Stamps by Jamie and was really moved by the Free Spirit stamp.  She has a special beauty that looks so carefree.  I had a dream catcher that used to be in my son's room.   I thought   it would be a perfect backdrop for this stamp.  

The feathers in the Bloom Girl's headpiece were made by misting  Prima Resins -Feathers 569990 with Color Bloom Mists in Worn Leather, Gold Foil and Antique Gold.  They were then Finnabair Mechanicals, beads and feathers.
