I took a great photo of my mom with her two sisters in 2017.  It's one of my favorite images of the three ladies who have been so important in my life.  My sweet Aunt on the right is no longer with us, and this photo captures her spirit so perfectly - happy, joyful and full of love.  

I love that Creative Embellishments has been so instrumental in helping to decorate this layout and to capture my feelings.   My Aunt was a bright star in my life so I was excited to grab the newly released Falling Stars Stencil to accent the chipboard circle frame, Stars in My Universe. 

When I look at the  Stars in My Universe circle frame, it has a lot of symbolism for me.  

It's the universe; it's the stars in the heavens; it's the endless and perfect circle of love; it's my family filled with the stars of my life.  It's strong and magnificent.

I kept the treatments of the chipboard very simple - painting the pieces with white acrylic  and inking the word "family " with Distress Ink in Wilted Violet after the paint was dry.

I used the Creative Embellishments Falling Stars Stencil with some Distress Ink in Wilted Violet.

Heartwarming Cards with Hearts and Birdhouses

Hello.  I'm here to share a touch of Spring.  

It's April on the calendar, however there is still snow where I live.  I need spring cards to help keep my hope alive. 

Helping keep the hope for spring alive at my house is the gorgeous Celebration 12x12 collection from Maja Design. 

These are the papers I am using:

I've also added some darling chipboard embellishments from Creative Embellishments.  The wonderful Heart Flourish Frame 2 has been painted with white acrylic paint and the chipboard Birdhouse was slightly whitewashed with acrylic paint added to a sponge.  

The key to the soft white wash effect is the sponge.  Use a dab of white acrylic , a few drops of water mixed together, and dip the sponge lightly into the wash.  With the softest touch, LIGHTLY dab the sponge to the chippie.  Less is more.  I do not want to cover up the delicate lines in the birdhouse with a lot of heavy paint.

The designs from this collection range from bold to delicate. It's such a versatile collection.  As you can see, I am using the soft and delicate papers for this card. 

The Prima flower vine has been wrapped around the heart to accent the blues in the paper.

The Small Sentiment Words chipboard pieces are especially handy because the package contains so many options for expressing your thoughts. 

This is the second card.  There isn't a lot to this card.  It was easy to quick, but the Flourish Butterflies chipboard piece makes such a lovely focal point.  

No fancy chipboard treatments needed.  Simple is all you need sometimes.  This has been painted with acrylic paint. 

My paper choice is Graphic 45 Seasons Collection 12x12.

Sea Turtles Card

Under the Sea with Spellbinders

I think I am missing the sunshine where I live.  It's still snowing and cold.   My mind is completely centered on sunshine, warmth and peaceful ocean settings.  Those are my comfort thoughts. 

Spellbinders new dies helped me find my peace and tranquility.

How adorable are these sea turtles?  This is the beauty of the Graphic 45 - Sun Kissed  collection.  It's utterly delightful and captivates my heart. 

I fussy cut the sea turtles and mounted them on foam to make them come alive with dimension.
