Lemoncraft -Christmas Season with Heart Painted Collection

Start to the Christmas Season
Hello. I'm here to share some Christmas joy using Lemoncraft's re-released Heart Painted collection.   These are not Christmas papers, but I would like to show how to transform these to work nicely for Christmas. You can see the original post on the Lemoncraft blog right here

The gorgeous reprinted 'Heart Painted' collection has such soft pinks and greens - untraditional Christmas colors and yet I love pink and green for Christmas.

I accented the page with some chipboard from 2Crafty -  2 Crafty Chipboard - Card Word Circles - Christmas  that have been painted white and backed  with the Lemoncraft paper to make them pop.
They have been embellished with die cut greens from Tim Holtz and rolled flower buds.

I want to point out the rose button on the "No Peeking" Lemoncraft's Heart Painted collection as well.
The tree below is also from 2 Crafty Chipboard - Whimsical Christmas Tree and has been treated just as the Word Circle chipboard pieces...painted white and backed with Lemoncraft paper.   The tree was topped with blush pink pearls.

The beautiful pink and green flowers are from Petaloo.  What a perfect match!

This is available in my ETSY shop - while it lasts.  Click here to see it.

Keep watching for the newest release to be available soon.  You will need to add it to your Christmas wish list along with Lemoncraft's other gorgeous collections.

Every Day Cards Featuring 2Crafty

Hello.
I'm here today to share some cards I created through the month to feature 2Crafty Chipboard.   I have many events coming up this Spring where I'll be grabbing my cards.

For my first purple card, I used 2Crafty "Frame Vintage Oval " fr0052 as the main decoration.  I kept the top treatment simple by embossing it in gold.  I thought gold would be a perfect combo for the rich purple.

Behind the frame is an old piece of a book page.  The book is a junker from 1894 - so yeah it's super old.  While that may sound very cool, and it is, old book pages are more brittle than a thin piece of mica.  They actually do not make great embellishments and are not durable, unless a coating or sealant is added to them to preserve.  I  sprayed mine with a sealant.  I often over mine with a matte gel medium as well.

If you scroll to the third card on my post, you'll see the very old book from which  I've been ripping pages.  Comes in handy as a photo prop too.

This is the second card.  I do love the fun and delicate art deco frame I used here.  It absolutely needs no treatment applied to it.  It's superb as is.

Here is the 2Crafty piece I used,  "Frame Artdeco" fr0091

The third card is rather simple and sort of plain but I really love the simplicity.  My husband requested a basic yet manly card for a musician friend having a difficult time.   I know that the 2Crafty "Card Word Circle Sentiments" are perfect to pop on any card and off you go.

Cards do not need to be overly embellished to be appreciated.  I absolutely know that the gentleman appreciated the thought.

Here is an image of "Card Word Circle Sentiments" - CAR054

I inked the "Card Word Circle Sentiments" and glued it to some patterned paper - then cut the paper out.  Yes, I glue it down first, then I cut around it.  I always use this technique when adding paper to the chipboard as a background.  I think this is the easiest and best way to assure perfection.

Thanks for stopping by.  I encourage you to follow the creativity at 2Crafty.

Autumn in New England - Flying Unicorns and 2Crafty ( with leaf making tutorial)

Autumn In New England
(You can find this post on 2Crafty's blog here)

This is a layout I created based on a photo I took in Vermont, US, a few years ago.   My father-in-law lived in Vermont and each time I visited, I was enchanted with this church that everyone must pass upon entering into town from a certain direction.   It appears like a welcoming beacon for travelers and a symbol of home for residents.

One Autumn day as we were driving into Bennington,  Vermont, the sky was perfect and the trees were at near peak in Autumn glory.  I asked my husband to pull over and I jumped out to snap a few shots.  In order to get the best shot, you have to stand in the middle of the road.  Thank heaven it was early morning before church got started.

This page was created using the Nov.  Kit for the Flying Unicorns - 7Dots papers, along with a fun set of chipboard from 2Crafty:
2Crafty Chipboard "Autumn Leaves " m00018
2Crafty Words "Nothing Beats a Father's Love"
2Crafty "Winter Twig Branches"

Available in my ETSY shop while it lasts. Right here

Chipboard Instructions:
2Crafty's chipboard leaves were absolutely perfect for my project.  I'll show you how I altered them.
First I painted the leaves with gesso to prime them.  After dying, I misted with 13Arts Ayeeda mist in Yellow.  I sprayed them a few times to darken in spots as needed. I did not blot them dry - I used the heat gun to dry them.

Next step,  I added some embossing powder to give them some crinkled texture.

Below is a page that shows the "Autumn Leaves " and  "Winter Twig Branches" nicely inserted into a cluster of  paper leaves, floral berries and flowers.  The  "Winter Twig Branches" were simply stained with orange ink.

Paper Leaf Instructions:
Next I want to show you how I created some paper leaves to be used along with the chipboard leaves.  I didn't have enough chippies so I had to make some paper leaves.

Step 1. I used a fun Darice leaf die ( Assorted Leaves) that came with the Flying Unicorn Oct kit and punched a bunch of leaves from Studio75 "Splash It" paper collection . I enhanced the colors using some inks.

Step 2. Step 2 is leaf crunching and inking.

OK let's break  the leaf process down even further:
fold the leaf in half.  Lightly touch or dab the fold onto the ink pad.

Next - crunch the leaf and gently roll the leaf on the ink pad so that the crunched folds get slightly inked.  When you unfold the leaf and open it up, you have a cool looking "old leaf" effect.

I decided to leave the  title, Nothing Beats a Father's Love ", as a natural chipboard piece with no finishing.

The chipboard on the left matches nicely with the paper leaf I made.

I love showing dimension in my photos if I can get a decent shot.  It really shows the depth of the page ands how wonderfully the chipboard is on the page up close adding nice pops of texture, dimension and interest.

Thanks for stopping here.  I value your time.

If you missed the Flying Unicorns Oct kit, consider pre-ordering your kit each month.  Pre- orders start the 20th of each month, you get the best selection, you get to see a preview to determine if you like the colors and style of the particular month, AND it ships early.   Bonus all the way around.   Details here

2Crafty and CSI Team up For Case 155

2Crafty and CSI Team up

This is case file 155. It's a gorgeous soft palate.  I thought the soft wonderful papers from Maja Design  would be a great choice.   Come play along with Case 155.

The Nifty Pixel, aka our own Composite Sketch Artist Em Stafrace. Digital designers can pick up the digital template for this sketch right here at The Nifty Pixel.

So here is my take.

You must choose two items form the evidence list as embellishments.  My two evidence pieces are circles and birds.

At CSI - one must journal.  I am not the queen of journaling but here it is:

I have some friends going through difficult, challenging times - depression, illness, death of loved ones ( yes including beloved pets) and life situations that would test the fortitude of even the strongest.
Their lives have been shaken, their faith has been questioned and the days are very dark.   To you....
I share my hope with you, that one day soon, the clouds will part and you will reclaim  the joy and peace that was meant for your life.   BELIEVE

I used some wonderful 2Crafty chipboard pieces on this.
