Every Day Cards Featuring 2Crafty

Hello.
I'm here today to share some cards I created through the month to feature 2Crafty Chipboard.   I have many events coming up this Spring where I'll be grabbing my cards.

For my first purple card, I used 2Crafty "Frame Vintage Oval " fr0052 as the main decoration.  I kept the top treatment simple by embossing it in gold.  I thought gold would be a perfect combo for the rich purple.

Behind the frame is an old piece of a book page.  The book is a junker from 1894 - so yeah it's super old.  While that may sound very cool, and it is, old book pages are more brittle than a thin piece of mica.  They actually do not make great embellishments and are not durable, unless a coating or sealant is added to them to preserve.  I  sprayed mine with a sealant.  I often over mine with a matte gel medium as well.

If you scroll to the third card on my post, you'll see the very old book from which  I've been ripping pages.  Comes in handy as a photo prop too.

This is the second card.  I do love the fun and delicate art deco frame I used here.  It absolutely needs no treatment applied to it.  It's superb as is.

Here is the 2Crafty piece I used,  "Frame Artdeco" fr0091

The third card is rather simple and sort of plain but I really love the simplicity.  My husband requested a basic yet manly card for a musician friend having a difficult time.   I know that the 2Crafty "Card Word Circle Sentiments" are perfect to pop on any card and off you go.

Cards do not need to be overly embellished to be appreciated.  I absolutely know that the gentleman appreciated the thought.

Here is an image of "Card Word Circle Sentiments" - CAR054

I inked the "Card Word Circle Sentiments" and glued it to some patterned paper - then cut the paper out.  Yes, I glue it down first, then I cut around it.  I always use this technique when adding paper to the chipboard as a background.  I think this is the easiest and best way to assure perfection.

Thanks for stopping by.  I encourage you to follow the creativity at 2Crafty.

Escape Kitty's Friends - 2Crafty, Flying Unicorns and Maja Design

Escape Kitty and her Friends

This is Escape Kitty...and her pals.  She is enjoying a marvelous day with her dog cousins.   They are about to sit down to Easter dinner....thus the silly tongues hanging out.

Flying Unicorn, Maja Design, 2Crafty.....what do they all have in common?  They are all sponsoring CSI-Colors, Stories, Inspiration - the wonderful innovative weekly color challenge.

The challenge is played by creating a layout that incorporates all 2 colors, includes 3 pieces of evidence and has 1 piece of testimony.

My 3 pieces of evidence:  stripes, string, flowers.
My testimony is on the back, where I like to write so that I have documentation but not for  the world to see.  I'm not big on journaling on the front of my layouts though I love the look when others do it.

There's no better day than to spend it with great friends and companions. (Escape Kitty with cousins, Lexie and Fezzik).

I added 2Crafty chipboad to my piece for accents.  I didn't really do too much with the chipboard because it doesn't need it.  I pained some of the chipboard white and topped with white embossing power.

"Elegant Flourishes", "Dogs Have A Way of Adding Love to Everyday", "Mini Branches"

On to the paper I chose...Maja Design's Fika collection.  It was really a great choice for this particular challenge.  You can grab your Maja Design Papers from the Flying Unicorns.

Thanks for looking and consider playing along.

Spring Is Almost Here Layout with Lemoncraft and 2Crafty Chipboard

Lemoncraft Forget-Me -Not Collection Paired with 2Crafty Chipboard

I'm here today to share some projects made using the beautiful Forget -Me-Not collection from Lemoncraft.  Spring is on it's way and this collection makes me feel like celebrating Spring. You can find Lemoncraft in the Flying Unicorn Store right here

I paired the lovely LemonCraft with some wonderful 2Crafty chipboard pieces.

I took this photo of my family and thought it needed some delicate papers.  Forget-Me-Not was the perfect choice.  I added some additional stenciling, flowers and chipboard as finishing touches.

I used the wonderful journal tags from the collection as accent pieces on the page.

I used some chipboard pieces from 2Crafty to help accent this layout.  You can find a selection of 2Crafty chipboard at the Flying Unicorn Store.

  • Mixed Buttons m00425
  • 2Crafty Chipboard -Sakura Flowers
  • 2Crafty Chipboard -Cartia Swirl m00347

Here's how I made the chipboard flowers
Step 1.  Emboss -  I embossed the flowers with white embossing powder.  I embossed the flower centers with light teal and set aside.

Step 2.  Separate the Layers - Chipboard is layer upon layer of cardboard.  If you add a bit of water to the chipboard, you can get the layers to separate.  That's' what I did here.  I misted the chipboard lightly with water  - very lightly.  I used tweezers to separate the layers and lift them, keeping the center attached.   Then I heat dried them while to stay raised and dimensional.

Step 3.  Assembling the Flower -  I colored the petals white with a Sharpie.  Paint would have been ok too but my Sharpie was very quick.  Add a punch for the center, and then the chipboard center.  Top with a small rose or flower.

Step 4.  Finishing Touches - I used a brown ink pad to give the chipboard flower some accents.  I actually used Distress Ink in Vintage Photo
Here are a few more close ups  of the finished chipboard flower before I move to the card.

Now to show you the card I made with the same gorgeous Forget-Me-Not collection.  This is a collection that can be used for so many occasions.   This is a card that features the beautiful journal tags from the collection.

You can find Lemoncraft in the Flying Unicorn Store right here
I tucked some pretty green gingham washi tape into the card as well to bring out the greens in the tag.

The journal tags are so easy to use and look beautiful when mixed with the papers from the Forget-Me-Not collection.

Christmas Cards featuring 2Crafty Chipboard

Hello everyone.  I'm here today to showcase  some Christmas Cards using  2Crafty. I made two quick Christmas cards.  The wonderful 2Crafty chipboard creations make it super simple to pop a card together for the holidays.  Not a lot needed to make a card that will dazzle and wow your friends and family.

I made the first card using the paper from the December kit from Flying Unicorns.  It features Riddersholm papers this month and I found the colors to be a great match for my card.

My first card used the "Holly Tree" chipboard piece.  I painted this gold, then added fine embossing powder to give some sheen and sparkle.
Look how pretty the "Holly Tree" chipboard piece is.

This is my second Christmas card.  It's created using the darling 2 Crafty chipboard - "Blitzen" .   "Blitzen" is a statement piece all it's own.  All I did to this chipboard piece was ink it with a rich brown ink.  Simple.

Look, Christmas cards do not need to be elaborate. Do not over think the process but instead, let 2Crafty chipboard help do the work for you so you still have time to shop and bake and finish all your holiday preparations.

LemonCraft Santa Layout with Escape Kitty

I am the special guest at LemonCraft for October.  Yeah for that as I adore and love all things LemonCrafty.  So thank you LemonCraft for such a great opportunity to showcase your products in my style. You can find the first of two feature posts at LemonCraft right here.

This is my Santa layout.  I have mixed beautiful LemonCraft with some Prima flowers for a warm Christmas page.  The photo of Santa is my husband dressed up - being Santa's helper for the day while the "real" Santa delivers gifts.   He is holding my kitty, her name is Escape Kitty and she loves Christmas too.   Plus she also wanted to be featured at LemonCraft - sneaky little kitty - always looking for a way to slide on in somewhere.

LemonCraft collections have nice assortments of ribbons that accompany the collection.  The Christmas Greetings collection is no different and that ribbon assortment is quite spectacular.  You can see the assortment here.  They have a vintage feel and are perfectly coordinated for the papers in the collection.

I cut holly leaves from the LemonCraft Vintage Time Labels 3 page and tucked them around the flower cluster, which is predominantly Prima Victorian Christmas.     I also added a green Prima flower to the cluster to pull more green into the layout.

These are the Prima Kindled Lush Flowers that have been enhanced a bit more using the Prima Color Bloom mist in Lime Wedge.  I needed them a bit more green - thus I sprayed them and popped them dry with my heat gun.   For some reason paper seems to hold up better when dampened and then dried with the heat gun.  I'm no chemist so I have no idea why that is, but I just know my paper seems to love that chemical process of adding heat and water to stiffen it up.

My last little finishing touch embellishment is the 2Crafty chipboard Christmas word, "hohoho".  I left it the natural kraft color because it was perfect as is.

OK gotta tell ya about the my husband the "stand in" Santa.
bhaaaaaaaaa I look at Santa and I crack up every time. His frosty glasses???? not props. Galsses frost up upon transitioning from the bitter cold to the warm house. Santa Ken couldn't read the gift tags. and yet he could find the whiskey bottle on the table? hmmmm. so now you know why the real Santa also has his glasses pushed down his nose as well from necessity.

Kitty Showing Her Intentions

Escape Kitty Lives Everyday With Intention

This is Snaggle-toothed Kitty living with intention.   You can clearly see what she is intending - and she's up to no good.  But never fear, the birds fly away safely and this has a happy ending for all.

Hello  I'm here today presenting a  collaborative layout  between Flying Unicorns and 2Crafty.  The Oct Flying Unicorns kit, Your Passion Your Art, has the most wonderful warm rich colors for Autumn, thanks to the 7Dots paper collection selected this month.

( Special note - this layout is available on ETSY - and I will add your own photo.  Scrooll down to see what it looks like blank.  Kitty gets to stay home with me. See it here.   )

I chose some designs from the July release; "Bird Set", "Pretty Birdcage", and "Live Everyday With Intention".  I didn't do anything fancy with the chipboard.  The birdcage is beyond gorgeous on it's own so I left it "as is" because it blends perfectly with my page.  I did paint the birds with acrylic paints to make them stand out.

Here are the images of the chippies I used:
"Bird Set

 "Pretty Birdcage"

  "Live Everyday With Intention"

I also left the  sentiment natural as well.  Look at how beautifully it blends.

This is how the page looks so that you can add your own photo.  I have this page available on my ETSY shop and will be happy to add your photo to this if you send me the photo you select.  I can also turn your photo sepia or black and white.

Thanks for stopping here.  I value your time.

If you missed the Flying Unicorns Oct kit, consider pre-ordering your kit each month.  Pre- orders start the 20th of each month, you get the best selection, you get to see a preview to determine if you like the colors and style of the particular month, AND it ships early.   Bonus all the way around.   Details here

Grab this layout on my ETSY while it lasts. I'll add your photo to it and mail it right out.
