Petaloo - Thanksgiving Home Decor - Pumpkin Wall Hanging

Hello.  I'm here to share my VERY FIRST post as the new member of Petaloo's Design Team.  I must tell you how excited I am to be part of this talented family.  Thanks Petaloo, for this opportunity.

To start my Petaloo adventure ( you can see the post at Petaloo by clicking here), I chose a home decor piece to hang on my front door and celebrate autumn.  Something fun and colorful.  

Here are a few close ups of the wonderful assortment of Petaloo blooms I used to adorn my piece ranging from Petaloo's gorgeous velvet autumn leaves, to the textured flowers and some older Petaloo berry sprays that I have been hoarding.  

This started as a plain wooden wall hanging that needed to be covered.  My goal was to make this project resemble a patchwork pumpkin with a wide assortment of patterns and textures.   I chose warm golden tones from Echo Park's "Fall is in the Air" collection.  

Once the gorgeous Petaloo embellishments and rafia bow were added, the result was a fun, happy and cheery piece to decorate my front door and welcome friends and family.

Christmas Magic - Maja Design Mood Board

Vintage Santa Canvas - with Maja Design

 Maja Design has a new collection out for Christmas 2016 called , "I Wish".  It's got Maja's wonderful vintage feel with traditional colors that I adore.  This month I decided to play along with the Maja Mood Board for November.  

I used the Santa image from the ephemera page form Maja Design "I Wish" collection.  You can see all the beautiful pages in the collection here.  

How to Participate in Maja's Mood Board

Inspiration for the mood board can be found from the words in the collage above, the colors, the quote, the feel, the font...whatever captures your attention.  The projects can be anything - home decor, cards, tags, pages, journals...if you can think it and create , then you can enter it.

When I look at vintage Christmas images, I feel the magic of Christmas that I had when I was a child.  Christmas is still magical, but the weight of daily worries and the general hustle of life seems to make that magic a bit blurry.   

 I admit that I need to refocus on the importance of the holiday, the season,  and try to live the meaning throughout the year.  

My canvas is a small one - just 4x4.  I framed it with a silver and antique gold wooden frame which adds to the overall vintage appeal.  

I mounted my paper image and the die to the canvas using Modpodge with a matte finish.  There are no loose little edges sticking up and this helps to protect the canvas from dusty and dirt so I can display it for years to come.  

I used some chipboard pieces that I had.  These are Dusty Attic snowflakes that I had in my stash.   I dabbed them with ivory paint - but did not paint them completely. Just a dabbing - like a dusting really.  

The die I used is from Find It Trading  - Precious Marieke Die-Snowflake Circle.  It is very delicate and pretty.

Three Different Cards Using the Same Die - With JustRite

Today I am featuring a versatile die from JustRite called the JustRite Classy Frame and Tag Die DIE. 

I made three cards and you can see the dramatic results.  

This is the first card created using  the following stamps and dies from JustRite.

This is the second example using the same die set.  I simply used the negative space from the die and added lace behind the negative space for a little softer look.    A simple card to create with a dab of grace. 

The papers used on this card are from the Maja Design Summertime collection.  

These are the papers I chose from the Summertime collection.  This is a double sided sheet called "Flowers Everywhere".  Beautiful, isn't it?

You can see here that the lace adds a sweetness to the card. Not much else needed between the design of the die and the pretty lace mixed with the gorgeous papers.   

This is the third card created and also created using the Maja Design Summertime collection.  The collection has a perfect blend of colors that hop from beautiful raspberry  to soft and pastel navy blue.
