June Maja Design Mood Board

Hello friends.  I'd like to share my heart card created using the Enjoying Outdoors collection from Maja Design.

I absolutely love the warm purples in this collection.  These are the papers I used from the Enjoying Outdoors collection:
Singing in the Rain
Beautiful Trees
and Butterflies from Garden creatures sheet

This was created for  the monthly Mood Board at Maja Design.  Have you considered playing along with the Mood Board?

The rules are super easy.  It's all about interpretation and inspiration - from the colors in the images, to the words, font, quote, or the images themselves.  The June Mood Board has lovely greens for summer...I missed those warm gorgeous greens over the long cold winter.

My florals were created using Spellbinders Victorian Garden Romantic Vines die along with a die from Cheery Lynn's Grapevine Frame die

Snowflake Cards

Bring on the Snowflakes
I say let the snowflakes come! bring'em on.
But only in the form of paper please.  I only want paper snow at my house.  I'd gladly substitute glue for a shovel.

The best way to play with snowflakes is by grabbing the new Spellbinders Snowflakes Holidays 2017 by Stephanie Low -Stamp & Die Set - and getting to work using Maja Design's Denim & Friends collection.

I created the card to play along with the  Maja Design Mood Board for the month of September.  Yes the Mood Board image invites you to think Summer but that's merely a suggestion.  My inspiration was taken from the colors.
You can play along and enter your creation right here

I layered by snowflakes on my card.  I thought they looked lovely that way.  The key to using the stamp & die set is to definitely stamp first.   This provides an easier platform for making sure your die cut is securely in place.  you can even tack down with tape if you want.

Hey - that's just my opinion.  Feel free to experiment with your own style.

I prefer a nice crisp stamped image and your choice of ink does have an impact on the final image quality.  I used Tsunkineko - Memento Ink- Rich Cocoa because it has a warm richness with great clarity when stamped.  Distress Inks will not provide as sharp an image as you may desire.

I used some white eyelash yarn as my fun wintery trim. I also added dimension to a snowflake by backing with foam tape.

Petaloo and Creative Embellishments Mother's Day Blog Hop

 Petaloo/Creative Embellishment Blog Hop

Petaloo has teamed up with Creative Embellishments this month for a fabulous product exchange and non-traditional blog hop ( visit both the Petaloo and Creative Embellishments blog daily.)

And dare I say PRIZES?????  OK I said it.  yes there will be prizes offered at the Petaloo and Creative Embellishments blog.  You can find the prize at the bottom of this post so scroll on down.

This means I had the opportunity to add Creative Embellishments chipboard to my cards.  That brings a giant smile to my face.

You can see the creative projects from both teams and join the hop at Petaloo's blog here and Creative Embellishments right here.

Mother's Day is fast approaching so I created 3 cards with a feminine touch just for the occasion.  It'll be here in a blink and I'll be prepared.

This is my first card.  I used Maja Design's newly re-released Sofiero collection for each of my cards.  I also created a card that played along with the mood board for Maja Design.   Won't you please consider trying your hand at the mood board?  YOu can find all the rules right here.
Your creation needs to be emailed by April 20th to

Here is a close up of the embellishments on this card.
The gorgeous lavender flower is Petaloo's Darjeeling Anemone in Purple .  The accenting  cream flowers  are Petaloo's Darjeeling Teastained Cream Dahlias .

The floral cluster rests atop a sweet chipboard piece, Creative Embellishments Chipboard - Flourish Set 2,  I kept the chipboard the natural color and dabbed some whitewash over the chipboard.

This is the second card.  I love how delicate this feels.  I think this is the card that my mom will receive.  For this card, I used the following flowers:
and the chippies used were:
Here's a close up of the  beautiful embellishments.
The chipboard treatments were kept quite simple with just white acrylic paint and a touch of brown edge inking.
My last card is also rather delicate thanks to Petaloo and Creative Embellishments.

Now you may say to yourself -"hmmmm crazy Jennifer says she used Petaloo's Maroon Hydrangeas on this card.   And yet I see no maroon."  Well let me tell you how cool one packet of Petaloo Velvet - Hydrangeas in Maroon  can be.

The packet of hydrangeas has so many variations of color. I took a flower that had a little less maroon and more green and cream.  I cut it to add as the greens in the cluster.  I did not want to use the leaves from the package because they just were too big for my floral cluster.

Don't forget to hop on over to the Creative Embellishments Blog found here for more gorgeous inspiration and a chance to win some prizes.  You can continue the blog hop and  shop for Creative Embellishments chipboard right here.

Oh - one last item.  Let's talk a bit more about the Blog Hop prizes....take a look.  Lots of flowers and chippies for your hearts delight.
There are 5 ways to win.  You'll find the rules posted at the end of each post on the Petaloo Blog.  DON'T  MISS OUT.

Pop-Up Card Full of Smiles

This is a pop-up card I created for a great friend who recently had surgery.  I love pop-up cards because they are so unassuming -but open it up and it's like a pop of smiles.  And that's sort of how I feel when I make them lately.

I created this for Maja Design Mood Board for the month of March.  I used the Maja Design Papers  - Life in the Country collection for this card as a perfect pairing for the Mood Board.
How Do I Enter the Challenge?

So what does it take to participate in the Mood Board? You do need to use Maja Design papers but you can interpret the Mood Board any way you like.  Use any of  the images as your inspiration.  Or perhaps the colors speak to you as inspiration.  You can also use the quote or even the inspiring words as your jumping point for the challenge.   There are no rules other than the ability to meet the deadline.

Email your creation to Maja Design by the 23rd of March.  moodboard@majadesign.nu

I'm tell you a bit about the products used on this happy card.

I mentioned previously the paper collection used from Maja Design.  This is Life in the Country - it's fresh and happy in my opinion.  Perfect for someone straight out of surgery and in need of a smile.
The gorgeous flowers are from Petaloo.  I chose soft soothing colors that resembled the little flowers on the patterned papers.

The stamps and dies I used on this card are from JustRite Papercraft.

Thanks for stopping.  Have a joyful day full of good health.  I do not want to be sending a "get well" card to anyone.  Those are never fun to make.
 Stay healthy.

Christmas Magic - Maja Design Mood Board

Vintage Santa Canvas - with Maja Design

Maja Design has a new collection out for Christmas 2016 called , "I Wish".  It's got Maja's wonderful vintage feel with traditional colors that I adore.  This month I decided to play along with the Maja Mood Board for November.

I used the Santa image from the ephemera page form Maja Design "I Wish" collection.  You can see all the beautiful pages in the collection here.

How to Participate in Maja's Mood Board
Inspiration for the mood board can be found from the words in the collage above, the colors, the quote, the feel, the font...whatever captures your attention.  The projects can be anything - home decor, cards, tags, pages, journals...if you can think it and create , then you can enter it.

The only rule is that it needs to be entered by November 24th.  All details are here.   You can email your entry to moodboard@majadesign.nu

When I look at vintage Christmas images, I feel the magic of Christmas that I had when I was a child.  Christmas is still magical, but the weight of daily worries and the general hustle of life seems to make that magic a bit blurry.

I admit that I need to refocus on the importance of the holiday, the season,  and try to live the meaning throughout the year.

My canvas is a small one - just 4x4.  I framed it with a silver and antique gold wooden frame which adds to the overall vintage appeal.

I mounted my paper image and the die to the canvas using Modpodge with a matte finish.  There are no loose little edges sticking up and this helps to protect the canvas from dusty and dirt so I can display it for years to come.

I used some chipboard pieces that I had.  These are Dusty Attic snowflakes that I had in my stash.   I dabbed them with ivory paint - but did not paint them completely. Just a dabbing - like a dusting really.

The die I used is from Find It Trading  - Precious Marieke Die-Snowflake Circle.  It is very delicate and pretty.

I you are interested in participating in the mood board,  All details are here

Thanks for stopping by and giving Santa a look.

Watering Can and Card Gift Set - Maja design

Maja Design May Mood Board.

The May Mood Board at Maja Design is now posted on the blog.  You can find the details all right here.  The Mood Boards are meant to  inspire in a number of ways; from the color palette , from the images provided, and from the quote and words.
You do not need to use them all in your creation.  You can create anything you choose.

Click here to play along.  Entries due May 26th and should be emailed  here moodboard@majadesign.nu

I took my inspiration from the image of the watering can and used the watering can I had saved on a shelf in my basement.  Not terribly original, but still tons of fun to create.

You can find this Watering can set  here in my ETSY shop along with other items in my ETSY shop .

I created a matching card as well.  I thought it would make a great gift set.

This is the watering can before and after I altered it.

These are the papers I chose from the collection:
