Home Decor Pumpkin Featured on Ustream

Pumpkin Season Is Upon Us

Pumpkin Season and Ustream!   I am hosting Ustream this week and will be recreating this pumpkin!

Stop by and watch the fun.  In time for Halloween and Thanksgiving decorating.  Wednesday at 9:00pm est for one hour of Uni-fun!

Flying Unicorn welcomes Autumn and what better way to celebrate than pumpkins.
Included in each main Your Passion Your Art kit is always an "Off the page " project to alter and decorate.  October's "Your Passion Your Art"   had a Darice paper mache pumpkin.

really had to sit down and contemplate this project and which direction I wanted to take it.  But then I went shopping to a home decor store and the decision was made for me.  They had some cool burlap  pumpkins that I really liked.  I decided to give it a whirl.

I attached the burlap using spray adhesive.  I found it was easier to apply the burlap than with using gooey glue that could seep through the burlap holes.  I did have to add some extra burlap at the stem and make it longer. The stem was small to begin with - and after I glued all the burlap to it, it disappeared - which is why I needed to make the stem longer.

I wrapped the pumpkin with jute to give the pumpkin it's shape back.  After that, I decorated it with all my wonderful Prima goodies, some flowers, the new trim and some leave vines.

I added some new Prima leaves and flowers from the Victorian Xmas collection.  And of course I had to add some raffia to give it a touch of country. Plus I have the biggest bag of raffia on the planet that I mail ordered -thought I was buying a small bag and ended with a crazy size.   Gotta use that stuff up one project at a time.

yeah is this not crazy?

That gold lace trim is Prima's new Memory Hardware Rocquencourt Doily Lace - from Frank Garcia. Gorgeous.  I need more.

When your flowers aren't the right color, just add some mist.  That's what I did here.  I sprayed them with Prima Color Bloom in Tangerine.

Soft and Delicate Snowflake Layout - Using LemonCraft

I am the featured artist at Lemoncraft this month and this layout is part 2 of the blog post.  You can find the blog post here

Soft and glorious - this is LemonCraft's most wonderful Christmas collection called  Christmas Greetings.  I made the page very soft and choose the cream colored papers for my page along with the beautiful angel die cuts from the collection.  They surround a picture of my dad as a baby.

The LemonCraft paper is just so fitting for my dad - being of Polish heritage.  I get a kick out of the photo too- gosh darn that looks just like my dad.  Sometimes baby photos are a little difficult to see similarities to the adult person, but he still has that same expression, which goes something like this..." whaaaa?  Who Me?  Causing trouble?  no - couldn't be me."

There is such an enchanting appeal to these papers.  I could just scrap and scrap.
The photo below shows the cluster.  It features Lemoncraft flowers and trims.  All perfectly coordinated.

Thanks for visiting.  Oh, you want to know where to grab your collection?  Stop by the Flying Unicorns for the full line of LemonCraft goodies.  Click here to start your shopping experience.

Breast Cancer Awareness Shaker Card with Julie Nutting Doll Stamps

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Because Breast Cancer is hideous and effects the entire family....
....here are my little Julie Nutting kids.  They are giving support to their grandma who is a survivor. It says, "We Support Our Grandma With Love".  Breast Cancer effects everyone in the family.  Please note this is not for my mother or my grandmother - thank goodness.

This is a shaker card

  • Because cancer needs to shaken up and tossed on it's butt end to the curb.
  • Because everyone in the family is shaken.
  • Because we need to shake up reality and realize it's still claiming too many lives
  • Because research needs a good shake
  • Because I want to shake the hands of all those brave survivors and hug those going through the battle.
The little boy stamp is Toby.  The little girl stamp is called Little Girl.  hahahah she has no name.  I think Julie needs to fix that!  A sweet little angel with no name seems so wrong.

I also used the wonderful Prima Garden Fable paper collection for my card and dolls.

My Card Secrets
Inside my heart shaker card, I've added sequins and some glass beads.  I also used "fun foam"  as the layer to create my shaker card. What I realized??? Fun foam is not just for kids.

I also stamp several layers for the dress and stagger them using more fun foam for movement and volume.

I also added some Stickles glitter glue to the dolls as accents to provide more dimension.
I colored her sweet hair by inking it first then drawing tiny circles with a fine tip art pen for her hair.

How to Make a Rustic Country Wall Hanging Using Embroidery Hoops (Wooden Rings)

Make a Rustic Country Wall Hanging Using Embroidery Hoops (Wooden Rings)

Wooden hoops are all the rage lately.  They are easy to use and very versatile. Since they already have a hanger built right into them, you simply pop on the wall and you are done.

I decided to give embroidery hoop art a whirl.  I am up on the Blitsy Blog today showing you how I made this rustic wall hanging using embroidery hoops and raffia.

I also have a video to share.  My videos are always pretty short.  You can have a quick coffee or tea break and get a short video tucked into your day.

You can find the Blitsy Blog post here as well as the short video here
