Spellbinders Card Club of the Month for August is a tropical paradise in a box - with pink flamingos, pink cockatoos, lush florals and even fruity drinks; relaxing and soothing.  

I have a fascination with flamingos.  They appear graceful and remind me of a recent vacation so I was immediately drawn to the flamingos in the packaged die cuts from the kit. 

The post today consists of two cards using a combination of products from the kit;  the packaged die cut set, as well as the stickers and paper from the box. These products are also part of the "EXTRAS" this month for sale separately in the Spellbinders store.

This is the first card - soft, tropical and definitely full of vintage island relaxation.  The background of the card is from the Memory Card Extras and reminds me of an old postcard with the pastel colors. 
 
I embellished with more packaged die cuts and then finished the card with leaf and floral die cuts made using the exclusive die set from the kit.  

The kit comes with paper, cardstock, stickers, die cuts, stamps, glitter pearls and even the adhesives you need.   In fact, this is what's included in the August kit:

Lovely in Pink - Girl Layout

Lovely In Pink  Layout

I created this pink layout for my two lovely nieces.  The BoBunny Juliet collection from the Sept. Flying Unicorns kit, Your Passion Your Art, has a wonderful elegance to it - so I kept this layout basic and simple.  A little stenciling, beads and heavy gesso, and  some chipboard pieces from 2Crafty, and my little lovelies.  

The beads were adhered using soft gel medium from Prima.  The stenciling was done with heavy gesso and the "weaving" stencil by Finnabair.  I prefer heavy gesso because it is super thick and tends to stay white and does not take on a yellow cast or transparent look when it dries.

The 2Crafty chipboard pieces used were:"checkerboard clumps", "Freda's Butterflies", " mini word set 2".  I painted them with white acrylic and dabbed them with glitter.  I wanted to try and match the look of the photo to the chipboard.  

The little gals are my nieces. I took this photo a few years ago.
