Scraps Of Elegance - March Kit - Spring's Promise

Welcome to Scraps of Elegance's reveal of Spring's Promise.  Gorgeous, romantic and packed with unique surprises.

This is what I created:

Weekends:
This was also made using the color palette of the Prima PPP.  The color palette is all greens.  Scroll down a bit to see the palette.

The image was from the Gecko Galz and I simply did a little photo shop altering for my needs.

This was created for the March sketch at Once Upon a Sketch created by Nadia Cannizzo.  The topic for the month is "Weekends,What does your weekend look like?"
My weekends are typically filled with music and dancing.  My husband is a musician so he is always practicing and filling the house with his talent.  As such, I tend to dance around the house a bit as he plays.  No fancy moves and definitely NO tutu.  But heck, a gal can dream of having better steps and a better dance costume than my ratty scrappy clothes that I usually wear when I am home, right?
My weekends always consist of relaxing with hot tea.
My journalling says "Weekends are for dreaming, dancing and sipping hot tea."

Purse:
Here is a little purse wall decoration I created using an old Halloween wall decoration bought for about a dollar.
This was made keeping the Prima PPP in mind as well.  I found the Prima Divine collection had all the greens I needed.  Easy!

Purple Angel:
This was based on the design by Charlotte Jenkins for the Scraps of Elegance sketch of the month challenge.  She is an amazing sketch artist so I thank her for continued inspiration.

The image is from Moonlight Magic Free Images

Pink Canvas:
I had the most fun making this piece.   I am in love with the soft colors of the Prima Divine collection.

This is an 8"x10" canvas, lots of moulding paste, a mask,  some paints and mists, and a whole lot of Scraps of Elegance goodness.

This was created for the Prima BAP using the amazing sketch this month by designer Marie-Nicolas Alliot.

Thanks for looking.   I value your time.

Scraps Of Elegance June Reveal

Welcome to the Scraps of Elegance June Reveal.  This is called Country Charm and indeed it is.

This kit features the gorgeous new Botanique paper line from Donna Salazar, tons of Prima flowers and embellishments and Fabscraps papers.   It is perfect for your summer layouts, but if you are heading into Winter ( and I am sorry for you), you can absolutely make these cold and crisp as well.   That's real all season versatility.

We are also celebrating with a blog hop as well, June 2-4.  Please join us for prizes and fun. The blog hop will start here.

Here are my designs:
Spruce Girls
Now you may be thinking this is odd paper to go with an odd photo.  They just don't make sense.  So hear me out and it all will be made clear.

This photo was taken in 1929 and features lovely ladies called the "Spruce Girls".  The photo was taken by Vern C Gorst (1876-1953) ca. 1929 in Hoquaim, Washington State.

Lumber was the lifeblood of Hoquiam, Aberdeen, and all of Grays Harbor, Washington. Throughout the first quarter of the twentieth century, Grays Harbor County retained its title as the greatest lumber-producing and lumber-shipping region in the world.  To celebrate Wood Week, five young ladies were selected to wear bathing suits made entirely from thin spruce veneer to promote the products of the Washington lumber industry.

Veneer is very thin sheets of wood.
Ouch!  Sistah, can you help me with a splinter?  LOL
At any rate, these are cool photos I obtained from the University of Washington data files.

For this reason, I paired this photo with this wood grain paper.  Made sense to me.

I used the Donna Salazar bubble wrap stamp with her Peridot colored Mid'x Media Inx.

I used the sketch of the month by Charlotte Jenkins, suepup,  to create this with the wonderful Fabcscraps paper. I also cut a Dusty Attic ATC DA0673 and embossed it with Stampendous aged silver embossing enamel.  Cool stuff.

Also want to pint out the amazing butterflies included in the kit handmade by Renea Harrison.  She does a great job coordinating them perfectly.

The kit came with a small grapevine wreath that I cut apart, soaked in hot water to make it soft and pliable so as to use as drift wood under the photo. The shells on this layout are ones that I collected at my favorite beach getaway to Naples, Florida.

Brick Wall
This is a photo I took of my niece all dressed up for an afternoon tea party.  We got dressed up and went to afternoon tea on Saturday, May 27, 2012.  Girls and mom in beads and elegance.  Aunt Jen not so much as she toted her camera equipment.  Not sure who had more fun - the girls or me clicking away.   Then home to play with my valued photos and the Donna Salazar papers and this kit.   I am a lucky gal.

I used the lace trim from the kit to replicate the wall she is leaning against.  I also used the Dusty Attic Chicken Wire Panel DA0177 .  I painted white and added some randomly placed pearl beads to glam up a bit.

I used the Heartfelt Creations/Spellbinders Bella Rose Die and stamp set for the leaves and stamped the new Donna Salazar Vine stamp with her equally amazing Clearsnap Donna Salazar Mix'd Media Inx in Jasmine, then used clear embossing powder over it.

Baby Birds
This image is from Graphics Fairy.

This paper is Donna Salazar and the white corrugated cardboard is from Jillibean.

Please consider joining us over at Scraps of Elegance.
