Prima's Altered Metal Telephone Frame

Prima's Altered Metal Telephone Frame (Blitsy Video Exclusive)

Blitsy is featuring Prima Metal Frames so this is a perfect time to share my recent project and video link.

I recently grabbed the Prima Metal Telephone Frame by Finnabair.  I love whole range of  metal frames from Prima; the bicycle, house, clock, television and all the rest now being featured at Blitsy. They look great no matter which decorative style you choose as you add your special embellishments.

I took a festive vintage approach.  I call it festive because I used a photo from my childhood and accented with bright happy colors that reflect the moment the photo was taken.

Watch my short video at Blitsy.  See how I gave this magnificent metal frame my decorative touch.

Special Tip

Jennifer used an old black and white photo, but any photo will work. Change the feel of your piece by adding different colored flowers and trims and different colored mists.

Close Ups

You can see how the mist adds a little bit of sheen and interest to the piece. The drips of blue mist add vintage patina appeal

.

Additional embellishment ideas

Are you thinking of creating this for someone and don't want to add a lot of flowers? Maybe you want to make it more masculine? Why not consider these embellishment options:
Burlap or trim
Beads
Metal charms, metal vintage trinkets.,chains
Cork embellishments/stickers
Stamp on the metal using StayzOn Solvent ink or other alcohol based inks
Chipboard or wood icons
Old clock pieces
Happy Crafting!

Prima and Amazing Watercolors

Prima Build A Page for March

I know - March is history.  Then I realized I had not even posted my own design.   So here it is.
I designed the Prima Build a Page for March.   I made a card - because that's what I was feeling with my sketch.  I wanted it to feel soft and watery and the watercolor pencils did the job.

Prima Celebrates Teachers and the Start to a New School Year ( with Julie Nutting and Finnabair's new lines)

Celebrating the Wonders of Reading with Prima and Julie Nutting Dolls ( Prima blog post here)
available on my ETSY- see the ad in the sidebar at right

Teachers are in full swing right now either preparing their classrooms, or saying hello to students.  I made a banner for a classroom encouraging children to read.  Each of my sweet Julie Nutting doll stamps provides a sentiment or quote highlighting the wonders and importance of reading.  I used a variety of new Art Ingredients and Art Basics to help accent my pieces.

Below are five reasons why I love the Julie Nutting dolls.  Each one is as unique as each child is unique and special.  Make these for the home and classroom and customize them for each child.

Better yet...have the kids decorate each tag and add their favorite book title as jounaling on the tag.  Or Use this to add stars for achievements...oh so many ways to incorporate this into the learning experience.

Each of the tags is made with the Julie Nutting Water color tag pad as a background and mounted on the 6x6 Julie Nutting paper pads - perfect for clothing choices for the doll stamps.

Here is a list of the doll stamps I used going from top to bottom  - left to right -
1.  Prima Julie Nutting Doll Stamp -Chiara ( product 910761)
2. Prima Julie Nutting Doll Stamp -Aidan ( product 910907 )                                                                  3.  Prima Julie Nutting Doll Stamp - Betty ( product 910440)
4.  Prima Julie Nutting Doll Stamp -Valentina ( product 910778)
5. 910907 Prima Julie Nutting Doll Stamp Aidan-( product 910907 )
I accented each piece with some fabulous new products from Prima as well - the Art Basics collection which includes matte gel medium, gesso, glass beads and mica flakes to name just a few.   Each tag has a little stenciling also to show off the newest stencil releases by Prima.  You can see the entire product list at the end of the post.

Prima Julie Nutting Doll Stamp -Chiara ( product 910761)
I love her, with her curly hair and adorable innocence.   I can just see her now with butterflies fluttering around while she reads her book in the yard without a care.

I used a new Prima stencil here for the background applied to the new Julie Nutting watercolor tag pads and basic generic brand watercolors.
Prima Julie Nutting Doll Stamp -Aidan ( product 910907 )
Prima Julie Nutting Doll Stamp - Betty ( product 910440)

Prima Julie Nutting Doll Stamp -Valentina ( product 910778)

Prima Julie Nutting Doll Stamp -Aidan ( product 910907 )
I used Aidan twice so you can see how easy it is to change his look with coloring and painting.   This tag has some glass beads and mica flakes from Prima on the ground adhered using the Prima Art Basics Matte Gel as an adhesive.

Once again, here is the "all star " reading lineup.

Thanks for stopping by.
