Without further delay Flying Unicorn is proud to present Coffee & Muse - May 2013 Mixed Media Add on:

Here is what I created with the wonderful Mixed Media Add-on.

The above photo is my cover.  I used a whole bunch of mists and inks to create the cover.
I used the foam stamp set from the kit with black paint to make the circles.   Then added my embellishments from the kit - which include some wonderful Flying Unicorn metal Adornments, tulle, flowers and Claudine Hellmuth Acrylic paints.

If you have never used the Claudine Hellmuth paints, they are super smooth and creamy in texture and translate that way to paper and canvas.

Below is my first page of the canvas mini.    I used more foam stamps, metal Adornments and the Claudine Hellmuth paints from the add-on kit.

This is page two. I cut a piece of cardboard for a page in my canvas mini album and created my own background using some old book pages and the elements from the kit.  That gorgeous mask is so versatile.

This is the back cover.  I did not embellish so that it could remain lying down. I thought the paint, stamping and misting could stand strongly and boldly on its own.

A Great Big thank-you for participating in our Coffee & Muse Hop.

You have until 6:00pm est, on Sunday April 28th, 2013 to complete the hop. Winners will be chosen via random.org and will be announced on the Flying Unicorn Forums starting at 8:00pm est
Please continue the blog hop fun with Kelly's Blog

Wedding Day Joy -Inkido

What a great way to start the week by presenting you some pretty papers, stamps, flowers and embellishments?

I present Wedding Day Joy which features the Inkido Beautiful Memories Collection and many other products, including one of their wonderful stamps.

Here are some of the fabulous Inkido products I used.

Here is a close up of the top cluster where you can see the fun Inkido stamp of heart garland.  I wrote the word love with my black marker.

I really love the beauty in each of the ATC cards on the Inkido Beautiful Memories - Beige Flowers paper.  I wish I had many more sheets for this particular paper.  It can be cut apart and used so many ways.   I love tucking it under my clusters for such a stunning accent to the page.

I used a piece of chipboard from Blue Fern Studios - Blooming Foliage and covered it in Stampendous
Shabby Pink Embossing enamel.

In the image below, you can see that I cut out the butterfly from the Beautiful Memories -Pink Butterflies paper and added some crackle glue to the wings.

Can you see the delicate pink Inkido heart pin sticking out of the cluster?

The Inkido products are so delicate and romantic.  They were the perfect choice for me to create this wedding layout which is part of a complete album for the Bride and Groom.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Please visit the Inkido blog to see what the other Design team members are creating.

You can purchase Inkido products from the Flying Unicorns.

ZVA Creative -Shell Collecting Jar

This is the time of year that I start to dream of the beach and sandy warmth ( it snowed here today so I am dreaming really hard for warm).  My parents spend the winters soaking up the warmth of the Southern Florida sun and I would love to join them.

Since I cannot be in Florida, or any where warm, I will create my own little piece of warmth, peace and serenity to display the shells my husband and I collected last year in Florida.

hmmm, what goes nicely with sand and shimmering ocean water?    Beautiful glimmery flourish crystals - ZVA style!

This is what I used to represent my waves : ZVA Creative - CRW-05CB-154 - Flourish Ice Blue

I really love using ZVA Creative flourishes in my Off The Page projects in a dimensional way.
It's very easy to do.   I simply keep the product attached to the acrylic backing (the packaging) and  cut around it.  This technique leaves the flourish whole, gives it strength and lets it keep it's shape, and is clear so it does not distract from the beauty of the project.

Thanks so much for looking.  May the warm weather be here soon.

Supplies used:
ZVA Creative - CRW-05CB-154 - Flourish Ice Blue
Maja Design Paper - Life By The Sea Collection -The East Coast

Resin Star fish
Martha Stewart punch - Deco Fan

Playing Dress up - with the Blue Fern Studios

Today I am dressing up some Blue Fern Studios chipboard.

Blue Fern Studios is new to the chipboard world and creating quite a stir indeed.  They are ornate and elegant and unique in design.   You can find them at a number of on-line stores - click here for the store list.

Playing Dress Up
This first layout is just dressing up the gorgeous ornate Blue Fern Sweetheart Dressform.  I painted it with some pale yellow acrylic paint and adorned it with gold tulle.  I wanted to emulate the tulle or georgette dress in the vintage photo ( from Magic Moonlight Free Images).

Sweetheart Dressform Model 074574

I topped the neckline with  Stickles glitter glue in paprika to match my papers. .

Here are some of the simple flowers I made to look like the simple flowers in the patterned paper.

Our Special Day
This is my next piece featuring a few different pieces of Blue Fern.

I used the Heart Set, which is so elegant and exquisite.  They can easily be tucked into clusters or featured on their own.  They can be layered or stand strong as individual pieces.

There are the Blue Fern Studios pieces I used:
Heart Set Model: 074417
 Valentine Cupids Model: 074769

I painted my chipboard with gesso to prime them.  They don't need priming, but I wanted them light because I was going to be painting them with a pale pink.  A nice basecoat of  white creates a clean finished look for what I was trying to present.

I then painted the hearts with light pink acrylic.  After they dried, I dabbed here and there with Ranger Clear Rock Candy paint and sprinkled with micro beads while the paint was wet.  I also used some lace to back one of the hearts.

This beautiful ornate heart has a little white acrylic dabbed here and there to soften a bit. The design is just so striking.   You can see how the gold leaf wax ( Rub N Buff) just adds a little extra elegance to the heart.

Here is my darling little Cupid of love. He is sitting top one of the Blue Fern Hearts.  This heart has lace on the front of it.

The Cupid is covered in Stampendous Aged Enamel in Ivory.  It is great stuff and has chunks of gold in it to give a bumpy chunky texture when heated.

You can  see the generous coating of Rub N Buff on the paper. Both heart and cupid have a little Rub N Buff on them also.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Stop by the Blue Fern Studios Blog or Like us on FaceBook.
Remember to visit your favorite on-line store to purchase some of these gorgeous chippies and start having fun with them.
