I am honored and very excited to start the year designing for Maja Design - such amazing softness and elegance to their papers, and such thick quality paper.   One can't help but fall in love with each piece of paper. The real problem you will have is which gorgeous piece to use first.  Now that can be a real problem.  Ohhhhh to have such problems like that!

Snow Day:

I wanted to keep going with the January Mood Board challenge and winter theme.  This Challenge runs until Jan 31st and you can have a chance to win a great Maja Designs collection.  I am in love with the colors of this Mood Board. While they are chilly, they also warm my heart.

I wanted my piece to be vintage winter so I used  a vintage photo of a little boy and his snowman. I decided to use my Martha Stewart snowflake punch as an edge punch and then glue the punched out snowflake as accents around the page.  The paper was too pretty to waste.

I selected the Vintage Summer Basics Collection as my paper choice - 1916 and 1902 paired with the Ska Vi Ta En Fika Collection - Kaffetaren Den Basta Ar.

I accented this page with a chipboard frame by Blue Fern Studios left raw but simply coated in Stickles.  I did not over embellish this page as I really want the highlight to be the papers.

Blue Fern Studios - Seasonal Wildflowers

Let me introduce you to Blue Fern Studios Seasonal Wildflowers. 

Lavender Fields:

I took this photo of some lavender in the spring 2012.  I think I was really trying to get the little bumble bee  BUT ended up with the flowers.  Either my shutter speed or my eyesight is way tooooo slow. I ended up with a different image than what I envisioned.  Just like a scrap page.  Sometimes (most times) the page starts with one vision and ends with completely different vision.  

I used the  Blue Fern Studios -Seasonal Wildflowers : Model  074394 to resemble my lavender.  great piece, isn't it?

Before I treated my Blue Fern chipies with any paint, I set them on my layout and used them as masks.  I sprayed with Tattered Angels Mist in Lavender Fields. 

I painted these with gesso first, then after they dried I dabbed the  flower part of them with molding paste to create some dimension.  When dry, I used my fingertip to dab some purple and yellow acrylic paint on them sparingly.

Someone asked about my corners and the techniques applied.  First I punched my corners with the Martha Stewart Large Wild Flowers corner punch.  Then I mixed some molding paste and some Claudine Hellmuth yellow acrylic paint together and applied it to a Prima mask.  This is illustrated below.

My layout was based on this design by Marie-Nicolas Alliot for the Prima BAP (Build a page)  Challenge in Dec.  This was featured at Prima.

Blue Fern Studios - The Floral Clock

Let's talk about Blue Fern Studio.  

This is a brand new paper crafting company offering unique and delicate chipboard made in the US.  

Best wishes to Blue Fern Studios and the faces behind Blue Fern (Leslie Kammerdiener and Michele Singh) a future with overwhelming success.  Congratulations on the launch of this wonderful, elegant new product line.  May your wildest dreams come true.

I am over the moon excited about designing for Blue Fern Studios.   I am humbled, honored and thankful for this opportunity.  I look forward to watching Blue Fern shoot to the top of the paper crafting world and helping in that endeavor as much as I can.

This is my first piece created for Blue Fern Studios. 

Angels:

This is a piece I created using the Floral Clock, which is shown below.  It is truly an exquisite piece whether used as a clock form, delicate frame or accent piece.   I opted to use as a frame for my little cherub.  It has a very similar pattern as the ornate cupcake wrapper that is underneath the cherubs.

Now a little about this piece.  I love a fascinating bargain that can be used in my scrapping.  I found the cupcake wrappers in a big name hobby store in the clearance bin... yeah!   I think they were a bomb of a product in the baking industry, but in scrapping -  ohhhhhh my, so pretty.   

The beautiful Blue Fern Floral Clock has the same intricate scroll work so it was the perfect choice for me. 

I painted it with a whole bunch of Adirondack acrylic paints - first in Sandal, then dabbed some Snow Cap white here and there, followed by some Lemonade Yellow, a little turquoise paint and finally completed with Adirondack Gold.  

I have mounted my cherubs on some 1/4 inch thick cardboard so that the layout has some dimension.  rarely do I bother with pop dots anymore. 

My background paper was a bit of a mistake that I took out of the garbage. It was some test paper for mists used on a different project.  I pulled out a bunch of bottles of different mists and sprayed them in vain trying to find that color I needed last week.   It was aggravating last week but this week it's all good. 

 I stamped some script on the page to add some filler in Tim Holtz Peacock and  memory Ink Chestnut.   I also used the fun new stamps by 3rd Eye called Cardiogram.  Love those stamps by Drycha -super fun.

This is an example of the cupcake wrapper I am talking about.  Please note those are NOT my cupcakes.  If they were, most of the frosting would be licked off.  I love sugar.  hahaha  PLUS the other reason they could NOT possibly be my cupcakes is that my wrappers are too busy being used on my scrap art and not  on my baking.
