Quiet Chair - Scraps Of Elegance May, Swan Song.

This is a photo I took July 2011 in Naples, FL.   Peaceful, quite and solitary - a perfect place to think and enjoy the water.

Created with the Scraps Of Elegance May Kit, Swan Song.  This is the most gorgeous kit I've ever seen.  Pains me to cut up the gorgeous papers but then I know I'll get an equally gorgeous kit next month - so I can relax and cut and play joyfully.   Please check us out.

I used Dusty Attic Decorative Trim Set DA0435.  I covered it with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo distress ink, dabbed with Adirondack paint in Gold,  then white washed it with gesso.  

I cut some fish net and painted it with gesso.  As a final touch too my layout, I poured a bit of gesso on my nonstick craft mat and used my fingers to dab gesso all over the page to give it a whitewash feel resembling the chair in the photo.

Special Investigator CSI - Color, Stories, Inspiration for May 2012

Escape Kitty Episode #44

I am so proud to announce that Escape Kitty and I are Special Investigators for May at CSI - Colors, Stories, Inspiration.   Kitty beat me to the punch by getting the first post, case file #18.   So, in turn, I am using her wonderful creation in my blog.  Sorry Kitty, but it's too pretty to keep just on your blog while we are a team.

Escape Kitty Episode #44 - Cast Party -CSI- Colors, Stories, Inspiration Case File #18

I am honored to be part of the team of Special Investigator for CSI - Color, Stories, Inspiration for May 2012.  The team being Jennifer Snyder and my wonderful talented self, Escape Kitty ( I bet they had no idea they were getting a duo - lucky them).   

Here is my Evidence List:

• I used a decorative tissue at the underneath my photo and adhered it with modpodge. 
• I used a buckle on my ribbon
• I twisted the orange gems
• I used leaves
• I used a very large blingy gem

My Testimony.  Now this is kind of funny.  One of the testimony selections says to grow in your journaling and write more than typical.  Oh my goodness - I am not sure I can blather on more than I already do!   I always try.  My Inspirational word is extreme.  

Escape Kitty is currently starring on stage at the Sidney Opera House in the ballet, Swan Song.  This is Episode #43 and she is magnificent in her tutu.  Check out her blog and be dazzled.  Now Kitty would love to believe that she is the lead dancer because they placed her in the front row in the dance troupe photo but really she's just in the front row in the photo because she is, well, very small. The taller dancers must stand behind her. 

Kitty is the smallest ballerina you will ever see,  BUT she is extremely talented, delicate on her feet and wins the hearts of the audience. 

To help celebrate her accomplishments on the big stage, she sent her cousins, Fezzik and Lexie, tickets to see her performance.  They sailed from the US and arrived in time to grab the afternoon matinee and join her for the cast party after the show.  Fezzik and Lexie were hungry from the long journey, and Escape Kitty worked up quite an appetite twirling and jumping on stage.  You can imagine that dancing is difficult work for a little Kitty with 10 inch legs.  

This photo shows the three cousins anxiously awaiting the food being brought out for the cast party.  Lips a smackin' in anticipation for some delicious morsels and kibble. 

Enjoy the party little buddies.  Eat up.  And Kitty, better grab a cat-nap because the evening performance starts very soon.   Kitty would love to send you tickets to see her.  But you need to hurry before the shows sell out.  

Please check out Escape Kitty's blog and see her in her tutu.  She certainly is tutu cute.  By the way, Fezzik is the little pup that looks like a teddy bear and Lexie is the darling Yorkshire Terrier.  Fezzik is a labradoodle puppy just in case you wanted to know.

Here is a page that I helped Escape Kitty make since she has no thumbs being a cat and all.  Makes it really hard to hold a hot glue gun, so that's where I come it.  Glad to help a Kitty out!

Select your chipboard piece and your paint colors.  We used the Dusty Attic Pots and Columns DA0546 becuase it fit the look and elegant feel of Escape Kitty's page.  You pick what works for your page.

Three Easy Steps set in stone! 

Complete.  Now you can decorate with lace trims, gold floss, flowers, stickles, rub ons, or vine ribbon.  Whatever fits your style.

Welcome to the Scraps Of Elegance Reveal for May - Swan Song.  

This kit is extraordinary.  We have assembled the most spectacular coordinated papers and embellishments available.  I honestly think this is the Premier Kit club.  Really! 

This month, the featured papers are quite a combo of pure elegance:

Here are my designs:

Snow Princesses

I always like to start with the sketch of the month.  This design is based on the  May sketch from Charlotte Jenkins.  This is a gorgeous sketch and fun to use.  Thanks Charlotte, for your inspirational design.

I took this photo of my nieces on a Saturday in March 2012, when they slept overnight at my house.  I woke them up, fed them, and dressed them in their pretty Snow Princess outfits.  We managed to snap a few photos before their mom came and whisked the Princesses off to their castle. 

This layout uses the wonderful Dusty Attic Snowflakes DA0501.

I used some older Prima vines here that I had been saving in my stash for the perfect application.  They are Winter Branches Icicles.  I also used Prima flowers wood embellishments and the chipboard pieces from the newest collection, Fairy Belle.   

Thanks to my friend KimmyC for giving me the gorgeous punched background paper I used as photo matting.

Ballerina Postcards
This layout was built around two images of vintage postcards I obtained from the Graphic Fairy.
I used the Prima Fairy Belle La Spa papers and the coordinating chipboard flowers.

This design was from Sketchabilities #69 by Karan Gerber.

I created the background with the Prima Stencil mask and inking with Tim Holtz Scattered Straw and Spun Sugar.

Here is a close up of the wonderful chipboard flowers combined with the Prima Fairy Belle Lucerne Flowers and a butterfly I cut from the patterned paper.  I finished them by outlining in Liquid Pearls, Gold and added a few dots of Yellow Stickles in the center.

The jewelry chain is something I picked up at Michaels in the clearance rack.  yeah -love clearance jewelry finds.  I believe I found this on a recent scrappy "power shopping" outing with my scrappy friend KimmyC.  Frankly speaking, I believe I grabbed for it first beating her to the goods.  Truthfully speaking, I believe I may have hip checked her out of the way in order to grab it first.  Just saying...it MAY have gone down that way.  Not sure and no one has come forward to verify.  Let's keep it that way.  hahahaha

Beautiful Smile

I have a wonderful fellow artist to thank for the inspiration on this layout.  

Agnieszka Bellaidea sent me a photo of her gorgeous daughter.  When these delicate papers arrived in the kit, I knew they were befitting such a beautiful young lady with the prize winning smile.

Lots of Prima in this layout.   I used the Prima Fairy Belle La Ronde paper as my background layer.  Cut the Fairy from the La Spa paper and used the chipboards from this collection as well.

Here is a close up of the Prima vine I used.  It was the Summer Carnation Melon vine with a wonderful peachy pink blush color.  Tucked into the vine is the Prima Fairy Belle chipboard and some dyed cheesecloth.

 I outlined the Fairy in Liquid Pearls to make her pop.

Butterfly Whisper
This is a photo I obtained from  Magic Moonlight Free Images.   I decided this one needed the minimalist approach.  Not sure why, it's just what I was feeling.  I wanted the papers to speak I guess.
And those papers are from the  Pink Paislee London Market collection, along with the chipboard buttons.

This layout uses the Dusty Attic Wrought Iron Trim Set DA0547 just cut up and painted in Adirondack Paint, Sandal located at the bottom as my edging.

Here is the close up of the cool Melissa Frances Angel wings I used.  I have them connected with the Pink Paislee London Market chipboard button. 

I inked the chipboard buttons with Tim Holtz Antique Linen distress ink and tethered the buttons together with the string of pearls that came in the kit.
