Flying Unicorns Kit of the Month - December Magic OTP

Flying Unicorns Kit of the Month Off the Page Project
Each month the Flying Unicorns offers a unique kit of the month ( KOM) and included in each  kit is a wonderful project.  We call this an Off The Page project (OTP).   This month for the December Magic kit, it is a cool  pine box with a picture frame.  You can use as a frame or gift box, photo box, what not. The possibilities are endless.

The front panel slips out so that the glass picture frame can be inserted.

I decorated  this with some Kaisercraft papers from the Enchanted Garden collection and lots of Prima Marketing embellishments.

I primed my box first with a spray gesso. Very handy product for hard to paint surfaces.  Then I covered in Adirondack acrylic paint in white (snow cap) and sponged on some cream color (sandal).

Next I stamped on it to give some definition.  I added Tim Holtz tissue paper - but glued the pieces on.  They tend to pull up easy if not glued.

The bird is also from Kaisercraft Enchanted Garden die cuts.

Thanks for stopping by.  You can purchase the kit of the Month here.

FabScraps - Masculine and Feminine with the Wild At Heart Collection

FabScraps
I decided to  make a feminine and masculine card using the same exact papers.  I had fun doing this project and it was a bit of a challenge for me.   if you scroll to the end, you will find step by step instructions for each card.

The two sheets of paper were from the FabScraps Wild At Heart collection - Wild Tunes 2 and Wild Ride 2.  At first glace these papers cater to the masculine side of life.  With a little creativity and a boarder punch, its easy to add a delicate feel.

The masculine card uses Wild Ride 2 as the base for the card.
I coated the Wil;d At Heart chipboard piece with Molten Metal Enamelz from Shimmerz.  This is such a cool product. When melted, it looks just like, well, metal.  Perfect for a masculine rugged look.

I grabbed this little bubblewrap trick from Shona Keehn,  She works magic with bubble wrap and I love how rugged it looks so I thought I would try it myself.  Thanks Shona.

For the feminine card, I reversed the papers and used Wild Tunes 2 as the base of the card.  The beautiful blue/teal work well for a feminine card.  Add a touch of lace and some pink and it all comes together.
The little pink flowers are rolled from paper using  Rolled Rose Die die from  La La Land.
The leaves were punched from EK Success large leaf punch.  I crumpled the leaves and then ran an ikn pad over the crumpled edges.

Thanks for stopping by.  LIKE Fabscraps on FaceBook and visit their blog here.

Prima Christmas Card - with Paintable and Chalkboard Note Cards

Prima Marketing had been featuring Christmas cards for the month of November.   Today, the feature is to use the Everyday Vintage lines of paintable and chalkboard cards.  I did one of each.

Prima's Chalkboard cards have an elegance about them so I thought it would be nice to use for Christmas. Black for Christmas you say?  Indeed, as it makes the wonderful embellishments and the sentiment on your card just pop with love.

You can really see the green and red drama in this card against the chalkboard background.

I used a combination of patterned papers here for  the background - Prima's Optimist paper - Whimsy for the outer most edge which is also the bas of the card.  Next is Prima Holiday Jubilee paper -Christmas Morning.

My embellishments are  also from Prima Marketing - the mistletoe, flowers, stamps and wood icons are all listed below intertwined with some bold trims to finish the card.

Here is my second card using the Prima IOD Everyday Vintage Paintables Notecards.   I used some Ingvild Bolme chalk inks to color my journal card. The paintable cards are perfectly sized for greeting cards.

This is backed with pare from the Prima Holiday Jubilee collection.

These are the notecards.  Very pretty with a wonderful warm vintage appeal.
A close up of the Prima cluster - some branches from Prima, mistletoe, wood icons and florals.

Prima Holiday Card using Prima Natural Bark and Burlap

Prima is celebrating 12 days of Christmas cards by introducing a different theme each day for card crafting inspiration.  Today's challenge is to create with Prima's bark stars and burlap sheets.

When burlap and natural wood come together in a project,  it makes me think of rustic,  outdoors themes.   This is Christmas in the Country.

I used the  Prima Finnabair Elementals Resist Canvas to create my trees.  I cut the canvas and frayed the edges.  After I frayed the edges, I dipped the edges in Shimmerz Spritz - Olive Branch mist sprayed on a craft mat.

My bark stars have a little gesso painted on the with a dry foam brush to give them a frosty look.

Want to play along with our card challenge? Here's how:
1. Just make a Prima-based card or tag inspired by one of our 12 Days of Christmas Cards. Pick anything you want that inspires you: the product, a technique, layout of card, or a color scheme.
2. Add your project to that day's post found here.
3. After the features are over we will pick 12 lucky winners to get a Prima prize in December!
(Open to all countries. Void where prohibited by law.)
Thank you for stopping by to visit.   I have linked the products below to the Flying Unicorns store for your shopping convenience.

Histories de Pages - Magazine Debut in English

New French Magazine Translated into English

Histoires de Pages, a French scrapbooking magazine and partner of Prima Marketing, has just been translated into English.  It arrives on the market  today.  How exciting!

What does this magazine offer?

·        -   A very precise translation has been done by a Franco-British team.
·        -   A number of pages that are of interest only to the French readership have been replaced by some of the best articles published in previous issues, which gives an incredible richness to this issue!
·         Pictures of the layouts were made by a professional photographer. The result in the online version is excellent and allows zooming.
·        -   There is a wide variety of styles - with a design team of 30 people, including 6 well-known European scrappers, today we do not consider Histoires de Pages as a French magazine, but as a European magazine!
·        -   There are many techniques and step-by-steps well explained – more than in any other magazine and much more than in the print version!
·

Escape Kitty's Thanksgiving Preparation

Hello.  Escape Kitty here today along with Jennifer Snyder preparing for Thanksgiving in the US at the Snyder/Kitty household.

It starts with a little "hats off" to the Pilgrims who settled in the US many many moons ago after a long journey from England on the Mayflower.    The first Thanksgiving feast was held in the Autumn of 1621 between the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag in celebration of the colony's first successful harvest.

Today, we prepare by dressing Kitty in traditional Pilgrim wear and popping a turkey feathered tail on her - to symbolize the traditional food many of us eat in the US on this holiday.  This day is also one for giving thanks for the bountiful blessings around us.  I remain thankful that Kitty puts up with such shenanigans in letting us dress her up.

We have also used the Autumn theme here of golds, olives and rich warm colors as well as leaves.
The gold metal flowers pictured below are the wonderful Metal Adornments  from the Flying Unicorns store.  I simply rubbed them with Rub 'N Buff in golf leaf to give them a nice gold shine.

The butterfly at the top is also Flying Unicorns Metal Adornments -Wings (Butterflies) rubbed with gold Rub N Buff as well.

The leaves and flowers are from Prima Marketing.

I did a little sewing on the patterned papers.

Those supplies listed with links are available in the Flying Unicorn stare and are linked for your shopping convenience.

Thanks so very much - have a wonderful Sunday
