Mini Vintage Canvas Home Decor - Flying Unicorn and Prima

Create a piece of Vintage Home Decor with the Flying Unicorns

Mini Canvas Featuring Prima/Frank Garcia "Tales of You & Me"....and Flying Unicorns

The April Unicorn kit is now available while it lasts...which isn't usually long.  A great kit in such popular demand doesn't last long.

The Flying Unicorn kit this month included three canvases sized 3x3. The kit featured Prima's Tales of You & Me collection by Frank Garcia this month. Also included in the kit were some of Frank's sweet matching chipboard pieces for his collection.  I used the chipboard to adorn the little canvas pieces.

I used Mixd Media Inx from Clearsnap to color the edges of my canvas.  They are easy to use and I really love the pigmentation.

I accented each little canvas with elements to tie them all together  and make them a cohesive set- the lace, some pearls and similar colors.

The ribbon was stapled to the back of each little canvas in order to adhere it.  I originally added glue, however I knew that glue alone would not hold the weight of each canvas very long if hung on a wall.  The staples just reinforced it.

Here are some more close ups of the individual canvases.

Special note about my beautiful triple bow - it's perfect if I must say so.  haaaaaa!  That's because I used the Bow-It-All to make the bow.  If you can't tie good bows, then the Bow-It-All is something to think about.

Thanks for stopping by for a peek. You can shop the Flying Unicorns and grab the kit right here.

Escape Kitty's Friends - 2Crafty, Flying Unicorns and Maja Design

Escape Kitty and her Friends

This is Escape Kitty...and her pals.  She is enjoying a marvelous day with her dog cousins.   They are about to sit down to Easter dinner....thus the silly tongues hanging out.

Flying Unicorn, Maja Design, 2Crafty.....what do they all have in common?  They are all sponsoring CSI-Colors, Stories, Inspiration - the wonderful innovative weekly color challenge.

The challenge is played by creating a layout that incorporates all 2 colors, includes 3 pieces of evidence and has 1 piece of testimony.

My 3 pieces of evidence:  stripes, string, flowers.
My testimony is on the back, where I like to write so that I have documentation but not for  the world to see.  I'm not big on journaling on the front of my layouts though I love the look when others do it.

There's no better day than to spend it with great friends and companions. (Escape Kitty with cousins, Lexie and Fezzik).

I added 2Crafty chipboad to my piece for accents.  I didn't really do too much with the chipboard because it doesn't need it.  I pained some of the chipboard white and topped with white embossing power.

"Elegant Flourishes", "Dogs Have A Way of Adding Love to Everyday", "Mini Branches"

On to the paper I chose...Maja Design's Fika collection.  It was really a great choice for this particular challenge.  You can grab your Maja Design Papers from the Flying Unicorns.

Thanks for looking and consider playing along.

DIY Cards Featuring Prima Tales of You & Me by Frank Garcia

Tales of You & Me - by Prima and Frank Garcia

Prima's newest collection by Prima and Frank Garcia, Tales of You & Me ,  is one of those collections that is a "must have"  - with soft warm colors.  These papers are great for layouts but I am also having fun making cards using 990992 Prima Tales of You & Me - 4x6 Journal Cards and the 3x4 cards a well.    I love how the papers look with kraft backgrounds.  The kraft gives the paper an added vintage boost.

I accented this card with gorgeous gold trim... Prima Memory Hardware -by Frank Garcia - Rocquencourt Doily Lace.

This is my second card

This card was made using layers upon layers.  I created a small envelope that I will share with you at the bottom of this post.  I also will show you how I made this card.

Here's how I made this card:

Step 1. Cut layers.  Ink edges.  I used Seedless Preserves and Vintage Photo Distress Inks. I really wanted to pull out a rich purple hue with the Seedless Preserves.

Step 2.  I made a small envelope using kraft paper. You can find the  envelope template here

Step 3.  I cut out the envelope making sure my postcard, or letter fit nicely.
Step 4.  I added some foam tape under the flap of the envelope before I attached it to the envelope.  The I stamped the butterfly image onto the flap.  The stamp is from the Tales of You & Me collection as well ( Prima Frank Garcia Tales of You & Me - Stamp Set 990930).  I used clear embossing powder to make the stamped image  a little crisper and to pop a little.
Step 5.  I gently inked the envelope to add more purple.

Step 6.  I used a craft knife and cut into the flower images so that the envelope could nicely fit onto the top of the card.
Step 7. You can see the envelope now just slips into the card.
Here is the template for the envelope that I created.  You can find the link right here.

Here are some close ups.

Thanks for stopping here.  Enjoy Frank Garcia's collections! You can find the Tales of You & Me collection right here.  You can find Frank's other collections here as well and all the other fun Prima goodies at the Flying Unicorns Store
