Egg-Stra Special Easter Cards

Spring/ Easter Cards
I'm ready to celebrate a bit of spring and Easter with an EGGstravaganza  of adorable   embellishments for Easter and Spring.
I have some darling Spring/Easter paper  that I thought I'd use up.  Gasp...I know!  Actually use some papers from my stash?  What a crazy idea.

So to balance out my crazy side,  I thought I'd be sensible and shop for chipboard accents for the cards.  BAM!  I found the cutest Easter chipboard  and veneer selection at
Creative Embellishments.  I just couldn't resist making a few Easter cards to send to my family.

These are the pieces I used:
My first card features my favorite bunnies.  These mini Veneer wood Bunnies are way too cute.  They just melt my heart and make me smile.

First of all, I adore bunnies -and mini bunnies are cuteness overload.
The papers I am using are from Doodlebug Design - 6x6 Easter Express.

My first pet as an adult was a white house bunny.  He was a master snuggler.
I think he was the reason I dabbed the tiny wood veneer bunnies with a bit of white acrylic paint.  The little guy with his cotton tail facing us has an adhesive pearl gem for his cotton tail.
  Easy.
This is my second card made for an egg-stra special relative.
The chipboard eggs - Fun Eggs - were painted white and gussied up with ribbon.  Festive and yet pretty clean.

My last card is a combo of the Veneer wood Bunnies , the Fun Eggs, and my sentiment word from the Small Family Border Word Set.

I kept the treatments of the chipboard and wood veneer easy by using acrylic paints.   They don't need a lot of fuss to be spEGGtacular.
The beautiful heart die cut is from Spellbinders - Lace Hearts .

Heart Cards Soooo Sweet - With Spellbinders Dies

The Sew Sweet Collection By Spellbinders (Part 2)

I've been playing with the newest releases at Spellbinders.  This card features a die from the Sew Sweet collection by Tammy Tutterow.   This is Part 2 of my posts using this die.    You can see Part 1 here.

is fun,  a bit quirky as it sits slightly off center and absolutely sweet ( as the name, Sew Sweet implies).
The off-centered nested hearts give the die collection such charm.

As you can see above, the collection comes with an assortment of dies for embellishing your projects.  I took full advantage of this to add some darling vines and leaves to cluster  around my simple layered flower.

I also used the banner die from the collection and layered that as well for shadowing.

The little "love" tag came from Stamperia's Old Lace 12x12 paper that I used on this project.
This is the inside of the Spellbinders Sew Sweet Valentine  card.
Because I used the dark brown cardstock, the inside of the card needed a layer of lighter cardstock for the personal sentiment.

As I mentioned , the paper I am using Stamperia's Old Lace 12x12 paper collection.  I'm really loving this paper.

Elegant Dimensional Flower - Cards with Spellbinders

 Elegant 3D Cards (Part 2)

3D cards and pop-up cards are all the rage.  They are fun and unusual to make and even more fun to give.  I imagine the surprise and the blooming smile that spreads upon the face of the person opening the card.

Spellbinders has a new line of 3D dies to add to the fun.
Spellbinders has released the Elegant 3D collection by Becca Feeken/Amazing Paper Grace.  This collection is all about the layering and dimension.
Yesterday  I featured  two dies from Spellbinders Elegant 3D Vignettes collection by Becca Feeken.
I also made a vintage looking card with the dies.  You can see the vintage card post here.

Do you enjoy making your own flowers?   If you do, then I have a great set of dies that will help create perfect layers.  Plus, they even have a hole pre-punched in the center to keep the flowers stacked perfectly.  Worst part about flower making is punching the center holes.

These are the dies/stamps that I am using on this card:

Paper Choice and Other Supplies:

In addition, I am using Graphic 45 Secret Garden Collection 12x12  and some inks to create the vintage accenting in the flowers.

I chose to use Finger Tip Daubers to apply the ink because they tend to make the application easier when using smaller pieces that need inking.

Here is my surprise sentiment tag for the inside of the card.  This can also be a gift card holder...for that lucky recipient (haaaa).

Vintage Card With DIY Flowers from Spellbinders

 Elegant 3D Cards

Spellbinders has released the Elegant 3D collection by Becca Feeken/Amazing Paper Grace.  This collection is all about the layering and dimension.

These are the dies/stamps that I am using on this card:

Sometimes you have to make your own flowers - gorgeous flowers that match your project to perfection.

Spellbinders and Becca Feeken have a great set of dies that will help create perfectly layered flowers that can be dimensional or flat.    Bonus - they even have a hole pre-punched in the center to keep the flowers stacked perfectly.  Worst part about flower making is punching the center holes.

I decided to go vintage with this card using Graphic 45 - French Country Garden 12x12 collection and ink accenting.

These are the inks (either Distress or Oxides work)  I used  along with the Finger Tip Sponge Daubers :

Sweet Hearts and Lilacs

Sweet Hearts and Lilacs with Spellbinders
(Part 1)
I've been playing with the newest releases at Spellbinders.  This card features a die from the Sew Sweet collection by Tammy Tutterow.   I love love love it.   This is Part 1 of my Sew Sweet post.  You can see Part 2 here.

The die has a darling little 5 petal flower that I turned into a lilac.  OK lilacs have 4 petals.  All I can say is mine don't.  You're just gonna have indulge my imagination.

Below is my version of a delicate lilac.  A four petal beauty...until I create it from a 5-petaled flower.  It's all about the imagination.
I'm quite happy with my quirky lilac. It looks lovely in my opinion.

I'm going to give this card to my mom for Mother's Day.
Where I live, we have a giant Lilac Festival in May when the bushes and trees are in bloom.

I also adore the nested heart die and all the little adornments that come with the Sew Sweet Valentine by Tammy Tutterow .

The paper I am using is Lilac Flowers collection from Stamperia -
quite delicate and feminine paper and perfect for this die.

Masculine Cards with Flowers

Masculine Card with flowers?  Absolutely!

Time to share some favorites - Spellbinders combined with Maja Design papers.    This card features the beautiful masculine side of the Maja Design Celebration collection.

The vision for this card was to create a birthday gift effect on the face of the card but in a subtle way and yet keep it on the masculine side.

In addition to the gorgeous patterned papers from the  Maja Design Celebration collection, I also used a sheet from the companion monochrome collection, Shades of Celebration
These are the papers I used from both the 12x12 collection:
 Glamour #964
Congratulations #975
I added a detailed frame using Spellbinders die called Tallulah Frill Layering Frame from the Chantilly Paper Lace Collection by Becca Feeken

I also created custom flowers using a versatile fun die from Spellbinders and Marisa Job - Spellbinders Textured Flowers -Timeless Heart Collection by Marisa Job.

Ahhhh, now for the masculine flowers...
Custom flowers are easy to create and perfect to match your paper collections.  I simply added black ink to the tips of my flowers for accent and to make them really pop against the card.  I think the black accents keep them grounded toward the masculine side.

I also added a black bead in the center of my flowers.
The Spellbinders Chantilly Paper Lace Collection  is one of the many from the Amazing Paper Grace Collections designed by Becca Feeken
